June 6, 20206 yr Why is Lady Gaga allowed to have 4 songs in the top 100? Shallow is from a soundtrack.
June 6, 20206 yr Shallow is from a soundtrack. I thought it was regardless of which album it’s from. Three best selling songs (lead artists mainly but excludes being a feature artist) should be the rule. The fact that 3 of the 4 entries Lady GaGa has on the chart are of joint collaborations. Is the OCC adding collaborations and solo songs separate?
June 6, 20206 yr I thought it was regardless of which album it’s from. Three best selling songs (lead artists mainly but excludes being a feature artist) should be the rule. Is the OCC adding collaborations and solo songs separate? ‘A Star Is Born’ is on the compilation chart, so it’s allowed to chart.
June 7, 20206 yr ‘A Star Is Born’ is on the compilation chart, so it’s allowed to chart. Oh ok. Gotcha. I wonder how many possible entries can an artist rack up at once? 3 lead artist songs per artist album, 3 songs off compilation album and 3 songs as a featured artist?
June 7, 20206 yr Oh ok. Gotcha. I wonder how many possible entries can an artist rack up at once? 3 lead artist songs per artist album, 3 songs off compilation album and 3 songs as a featured artist? Unlimited as a featured artist!
June 7, 20206 yr The 3 song limit only seems to apply as far as how the OCC decide to internally register what the 'primary artist' of each song is. In this case 'Shallow' seems to just not be counting as a Lady Gaga song, presumably it must be registered either as 'Lady Gaga & Bradley Cooper' (being considered an entirely separate artist for whatever reason) or, more likely imo, as 'Motion Picture Cast Recording' as the soundtrack overall is credited on OCC charts. But there isn't a consistent rule about soundtracks - the songs from the 'Black Panther' soundtrack, for example, seem to have been registered as counting only towards the first named artist on each song. The week the album came out, not only did more than 3 songs from the soundtrack chart, but Kendrick Lamar alone had five songs in the top 100, all as joint lead artist, because he was only the first named artist on 3 of them. Then a few weeks later 'Pray For Me' was starred out of the chart for a week because The Weeknd released his 'My Dear Melancholy,' EP and charted 3 new songs ahead of it, meaning 'Pray For Me' was clearly being counted as The Weeknd's song despite being from a soundtrack. So theoretically there doesn't seem to be a limit on how many songs an artist can appear on in the top 100 even as lead artist, it just comes down to however the OCC wants to deal with any given soundtrack. (I guess it probably just depends on whether they list the 'artist' of the soundtrack as 'Various Artists' or as 'Motion Picture Cast Recording'). The weirdest case so far of an artist getting around the 3 song limit was the one week XXXTENTACION had 4 songs in the top 100, presumably implying that 'Arms Around You' was not registered as being an XXXTENTACION song despite him being unambiguously the lead artist and it not being from any album, compilation or otherwise.
June 8, 20206 yr the problem is when there are multiple artists equally billed in a song, it should count as 4th song but it doesn't, like in the XXX example he had 3 songs as XXXTentacion + 1 song as XXXTentacion/Lil Pump/Maluma/Swae Lee it was the same with Guetta too iirc
June 8, 20206 yr ...they normally do, my entire point there is it's weird that the XXX example wasn't. The David Guetta situation was different because he was only the first named artist on 3 of the 4 songs.
June 8, 20206 yr Has anyone else noticed that the song at #100 on the Video Streaming chart doesn't exist. "Teeway/M1llionz - Siamese Twins" The song is actually called Big Risk (it does mention Siamese Twins in one lyric though).
