December 21, 20204 yr Author Got this on vinyl today. Can't wait to play it - I feel it is made for those cosy nights in playing music and switching off
January 5, 20214 yr Ordered this just now as it was only £13.99 at WH Smith, seemed rude not to! It’s worth it just for the tracks that didn’t ever make it to any other album or compilation.
January 6, 20214 yr love this compilation, I think Madonna is great at doing ballads she has so many amazing ballads, my #1 being Live to Tell
January 8, 20214 yr Have this on at the moment and it's such a lovely listen, I haven't heard it in at least a decade and I'd forgotten how much I like it

March 16, 20232 yr I really like her version and the video is nice too. She looks great in it. Didn't do well on Billboard Hot 100 though. Could have been released in UK instead of One More Chance, which didn't get a music video.
March 16, 20232 yr I also love the version on LAV. Was the highlight of the rebel heart tour for me and im still gutted she was so cheap to cut it out of the DVD!
March 16, 20232 yr Was the highlight of the rebel heart tour for me and im still gutted she was so cheap to cut it out of the DVD! Still not over this! :drama: Not that it really matters because the album did its job of selling bucket loads over Christmas and anything after was just a bonus, but I'd have preferred 'Love Don't Live Here Anymore' to be a worldwide single and not bother with 'One More Chance', which just goes nowhere for me and I find the chorus quite grating. I'm happy for 'Oh Father' to have remained a quick second single in certain territories as I love it and it's nice to see it get a chart placement in the UK, even if it was #16 (that said, had they released a week later instead of in post-Christmas week then it could have been a Top 10. These are the Top 10 sales estimates for both weeks: 6th January 1996 1- EARTH SONG- Michael Jackson (123,000) 2- FATHER AND SON- Boyzone (104,000) 3- WONDERWALL- Mike Flowers Pops (99,000) 4- IT’S OH SO QUIET- Bjork (64,000) 5- MISSING- Everything But The Girl (56,000) 6- WONDERWALL- Oasis (54,000) 7- GANGSTA’S PARADISE- Coolio Ft LV (47,000) 8- I AM BLESSED- Eternal (47,000) 9- I BELIEVE/ UP ON THE ROOF- Robson & Jerome (47,000) 10- IF YOU WANNA PARTY- Molella Ft Outhere Brothers (36,000) 13th January 1996 1- EARTH SONG- Michael Jackson (80,000) 2- FATHER AND SON- Boyzone (60,000) 3- SO PURE- Baby D (48,000) 4- MISSING- Everything But The Girl (41,000) 5- WONDERWALL- Oasis (35,000) 6- CREEP 96- T.L.C (32,000) 7- I AM BLESSED- Eternal (28,000) 8- IT’S OH SO QUIET- Bjork (26,000) 9- IF YOU WANNA PARTY- Moella Ft Outhere Brothers (25,000) 10- GANGSTA’S PARADISE- Coolio Ft LV (24,000) Also a shame they couldn't get the licencing to release 'I Want You' as a single ahead of 'You'll See' - I feel like the atmospheric sounds of 'I Want You' and the 'Evita' vocals of 'You'll See' give a taste of what was to come with 'Ray of Light'.
March 16, 20232 yr I think You'll See was the perfect single for what she needed at the time. She needed a reset with the public in the UK and You'll See and this album following did it perfectly. I Want You is okay but it is a little sub par for Massive Attack tbh.
March 16, 20232 yr As I said previously in this thread, you forget just how big a hit 'You'll See' was for Madonna at that time - her biggest in terms of sales since 'Vogue'! I say about wanting 'I Want You' as a single before 'You'll See' but I forget that 'You'll See' was only released two months after 'Human Nature' in the UK (not sure why that was released so late when it was released in the US in June 1995). I find that quite surprising, I thought there had been a longer gap between the two eras. Also, I find it so random that both Shirley Bassey and Susan Boyle have covered 'You'll See'!
March 17, 20232 yr No idea Oh Father could have been a top 10. Its a favourite of mine. To think it was on an album that sold million 5/6 years before release!!
March 17, 20232 yr Album: Love Don't Live Here Anymore iTunes: #2 Italy #7 Spain #9 Australia #9 France #11 United Kingdom #19 Bulgaria #19 Germany #26 Canada #35 United States I really like the Hot Mix! I guess that explains how the song ended up charting at #16 on the US Dance Club Songs chart.
March 17, 20232 yr You'll See included her first time on TOTP for many years. The single run should have been You'll See I Want You Love Don't Live Here Anymore But by the sounds of it they couldn't release I Want You. One More Chance could have "Double A-sided" with LDLHA. Oh Father should have been released instead of Dear Jessie from Like A Prayer like it was in the US.
March 17, 20232 yr I so wish 'I Want You's release hadn't been thwarted, I'm interested to see how it would have done and it would've really stood out among her singles discography.

March 17, 20232 yr ^ DJ was huge in the UK. Outsold Cherish and Express Yourself (i think) ReallY? Didn't make it that good though, did it? I can see why they released it... that style of song was doing well at the time... but I just don't think it's much cop. Has Madonna ever even sung it live?
