So I'm listening again and everything is making much more of an impression second time round. Don't think it'll ever get in the holy trinity of DW>Sweetener>TU,N but I'm loving the vibe of the album.

08 shut up - I really like the production

08.5 34+35 - this BOPS

08 motive - this also bops

06 just like magic - this felt a bit filler-y, would probs be bottom 3 on TUN for me

07 off the table - their voices work really well together but it's a bit dull. the bridge is cute

06 six thirty - exact same as my JLM comment

06.5 safety net - yh it's fine

08 my hair - I really like the vibe of this one

07.5 nasty - it's good, idk if I'll go back to it much tho

04 west side - filler, dull, the production is really irritating as well, skip

08.5 love language - this bops, it's clicking with me, it standouts a bit as well. omg the last 15 seconds, that switchup came out of nowhere I thought it was a new song

08.5 positions - not her strongest lead single but it bops

07 obvious - it's fine, don't think I'll return to it much

08 pov - nice closer & cute track

tbh I went in with low expectations, especially considering the reactions from most people ik with similar taste to me that listened to the leak, so I'm pleasantly surprised & glad there's a few tracks I'll at least be returning too. In terms of Ari albums, DW remains a very strong #1, followed by TUN & ME. I'd say I'd place this 4th, I'm glad the lowlights on this track are just dull rather than outright bad like a certain one of her other albums.

Actually looking forward to listening sometime this week! On paper this doesn't sound like my thing at all  but I've really liked the lead single (though probably isn't a top Ariana fave of mine just yet), and I had a flick through this morning to catch the vibe and it's sounding really good!

Just finished my first listen and overall it's a pretty good album! Exceeded my expectations after seeing a lot of mixed/negative reception.

Not going to lie when I was listening to the first half I was beginning to get worried as most of the tracks weren't really grabbing me, but for me the quality definitely got a lot better from Safety Net onwards.

My favourites are 34+35, love language, safety net and pov. I think others will definitely grow with more listens though.

I never got 34+35 until I heard her explain it at the end lmao how embarrassing is it I have a degree in MATHS ;_;

Based on names alone I was expecting my preference of the collaborations to be 01. The Weeknd 02. Doja Cat 03. Ty Dolla $ign but turns out it's the exact opposite of that  I like all of them but feel totally enamoured by 'safety net' right now - perhaps a career highlight for me already :drama: I'm going to listen to the album a few more times before doing a full ranking but so far I'm pleased with it. My main issues with 'My Everything' and 'Sweetener' is that, highs aside, they felt like musical whiplash - but this record is so cohesive and smooth. I think 'positions' could end up being my 3rd favourite Ariana album behind 'Dangerous Woman' and 'thank u, next'. Too early to properly determine that but signs are pointing that way.

The Spotify support for this is looking incredible btw! Hopefully another #1 album for her.

I really liked it. I don't feel the absolute need to put it straight back on repeat like I have done with the rest of her albums but it still sounded so lush and she killed the vocals as ever. I don't think this is ever going to be one of my favourite albums but I'm sure it's going to grow on me loads.

Here is my rankings after my first listen

1. positions

2. 34+35

3. nasty

4. love language

5. safety net

6. west side

7. off the table

8. obvious

9. motivate

10. pov

11. my hair

12. just like magic

13. six thirty

14. shut up

safety net is definitely the highlight of the record for me as well. Ty is sounding amazing and the production is spot on.

Taste!

Would people be free for a listening session of the album tonight? The hype is in the air and the rest of the weekend seems to be booked up on BuzzJack.

okay full ranking right now looks a little something like this:

01. safety net (feat. Ty Dolla $ign)

02. love language

03. positions

04. pov

05. motive (with Doja Cat)

06. nasty

07. my hair

08. just like magic

09. west side

10. off the table (feat. The Weeknd)

11. shut up

12. 34+35

13. obvious

14. six thirty

This record is gorgeous and feels like it's only going to grow more and more. I'm so relieved after the mixed reception to the leaks.

After two listens this is my current ranking!

1. pov

2. safety net (feat. Ty Dolla $ign)

These two are pretty much equal I love them both so much!

3. 34+35

4. positions

5. love language

6. my hair

7. just like magic (think this is the biggest grower so far for me!)

8. obvious

9. off the table feat. The Weeknd (another grower)

10. west side

11. shut up

12. nasty

13. six thirty

14. motive feat. Doja Cat (don’t know why but this one just isn’t clicking with me at the moment)

Overall I'd probably say this is 4th in terms of Ariana's albums for me after Dangerous Woman, thank u next and Sweetener.

Her vocals are on fire. The whistle notes extending to entire sentences during 'my hair' :cheeseblock:

I wish I'd booked the day off work as I'm really struggling to concentrate

I think I put this as my 3rd favourite album of hers behind Dangerous Woman and thank u, next.

It's very consistent.

1. positions

2. nasty

3. my hair

4. 34+35

5. safety net (feat. Ty Dolla $ign)

6. love language

7. pov

8. motive (with Doja Cat)

9. just like magic

10. west side

11. obvious

12. six thirty

13. off the table (feat. The Weeknd)

14. shut up

I actually think as an album this is better than the last two! I enjoyed the first 4 tracks, then found 'Off The Table' and 'Six Thirty' tedious listens (although I liked the way The Weeknd referenced 'Love Me Harder' in the former)

'My Hair' is the absolute highlight! It has flourishes of what I loved about the Dangerous Woman album so much, and those whistle notes. 'Love Language' is a brilliant instrumental which I feel has kinda gone to waste a bit here.
