Nobody Wants To Be Lonely still being in is a nice surprise.
Another banger. Wait was this from the first era, or was it just a feature on Ricky Martin's album? If the former, I expect that to be out more than WAGW at #15. If not... then wow! Top 14 for that

I believe it was a feature on Ricky Martín’s album.

'Tell Me' and 'Not Myself Tonight' were two of my faves back in the day; they probably did about as well on this rate as they could have. They aren't exactly her most popular

No classics out yet which is good.

KGB is really poor.

How was this a hit and some of her much better songs flopped!!!

#16. I Turn To You | 7.326

Highest Scores: 10: (Jonjo, Nightcrawler, Euphorique), 9.5/9: (Tawdry Hepburn, Lukuzz, Riser), Lowest Scores: 3: (Bjork)

At #16 is one of Christina's earliest ballads I Turn To You, released in March 2000 as the third single from her self-titled debut album. The track was written by American songwriter Diane Warren & first recorded by R&B quartet 'All-4-One' in 1997 for the Space Jam soundtrack with production Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis. It didn't receive much attention at the time, until Xtina recorded it. Upon release the track got mixed reviews but became a huge success in the USA by reaching a #3 peak, becoming her 3rd top 5 hit in a row. Elsewhere it wasn't quite as successful as the previous singles, but still managed to be quite successful with a top 10 peak in Canada, top 20 peaks in New Zealand, Spain, Ireland & UK, as well as top 40 peaks in Austria, Belgium, Switzerland, Australia & Netherlands.

The song is an expertly written ballad thanks to some fantastic song-writing by Diane Warren whose written such smash hits as ('How Do I Live' by LeAnn Rimes, 'Un-Break My Heart' by Toni Braxton & 'Because He Loved Me' by Celine Dion), & this has all of the hallmark sounds of those inspirational numbers with big soaring vocals. Yes its well & truly cliched & very dated, but that doesn't stop this from being fabulous yet sappy at the same time & given that this is now more than 20 years old now, it isn't gonna sound quite as fresh anymore, not that it did back in 2000 as this does have a very 90's feel to it. However that's okay as its still a beautiful little number that while it may not be as strong as the album's other big hits, its still a rather decent little nostalgic number.

I've gushed over ITTY so much already, but it really is wonderful. It walked so 'The Voice Within' could run! I really wish it was more well remembered/well known. Was it's release in the UK limited or something? But then again a 4th single from a big selling album would always struggle (unless you were Britney and you get another #1 with your 5th :') )
I had no idea ITTY was a cover !! I also thought it went to number 1 in the states .

#15. Nobody Wants To Be Lonely (ft Ricky Martin) | 7.543

Hightest Scores: 11: (Jonjo), 10: (ready for it, Euphorique), Lowest Scores: 5: (Tawdry Hepburn, #VoteGarden.keh)

Heading into the top 15 with her smash duet with Ricky Martin; Nobody Wants To Be Lonely, released in January 2001 as the 2nd single from Ricky Martin's 2nd English album Sound Loaded, which was originally a solo track, but re-recorded to feature Xtina. Upon release the song became a worldwide smash hit by topping the charts in Croatia, Hungary, New Zealand, Poland & Romania, as well as top 5 peaks in Finland, Greece, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Netherlands, Sweden, UK, Germany, Norway & Portugal, then top 10/20 peaks mostly everywhere else.
In the USA it was one of the first major single releases not to have a commercial CD single release, & due to changes in the rules regarding chart regulations, it was allowed to chart & managed to reach a #13 peak (probably would have went top 10 if it had an actual physical release). Of note the song was nominated at the 44th Grammy Awards for 'Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals', but lost out to 'Lady Marmalade' in which Xtina also collaborated on.

One of Christina's finest duets of her career, both she & the awesome Ricky Martin are on fine form here with this romantic yet sexy little Latin Pop ballad with some stunning production which allows their smooth vocal blend together quite beautifully, as well as allowing some great chemistry between the two singers. Yes this track is very of its time & now feels very much forgotten by today's standards, but on the whole its still a very decent number.

'Nobody Wants To Be Lonely' is incredible and so, SO underrated! I gave it my 11 coz it needed it the most! What a great collaboration.
I want to add to the love of ITTY. And Christina looks AMAZING in the video! Reminds me of Tara Reid from American Pie during that time.

#14. Lady Marmalade (ft Lil' Kim, Mya & Pink) | 7.63

Highest Scores: 10: (Nina West, Jordan Lee, Slick), 9.5/9: (Liam, ready for it, Nightcrawler, Lukuzz), Lowest Scores: 3: (Tawdry Hepburn)

At #14 is the last of Xtina's standalone releases with Lady Marmalade, which was recorded alongside Lil' Kim, Mya & Pink, with production & vocals by the ever brilliant Missy Elliot. The song appeared as part of a medley in the film Moulin Rouge!, with this collaboration version appearing on the soundtrack of the same name. As you may or may not know the song was originally sung by American girl-group Labelle back in 1974 & has been covered many times throughout the years, including All Saints in 1998. This version is more updated with changed lyrics & transferring the song's setting from New Orleans to the Paris nightclub Moulin Rouge. Released in March 2001 & became an instant smash hit by topping the charts in several countries such as Australia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, UK & USA. In fact in the USA it spent 5 weeks at the top, 26 years after Labelle's original version had reached the summit, making it the ninth in history to top the U.S. chart as performed as different artists.

I just bloody love this song, its just fantastic, a fine example of how to not only update a classic hit, but to breathe new life into it. Each of the female singers on this really brings something to the table with Pink's swagger, Mya's slow-jam cooing, Lil' Kim's fantastic ab-libs & raps, then of course Xtina's powerhouse vocals which really amps things up towards the end of the track.
Let's not forget about Missy Elliot's fantastic production skills which made the whole thing happen with its metallic synth tones, as well as celebrating the diversity and skill of the four women involved who each have 4 different styles & approaches to this track that makes everything work brilliantly. Even to this day after 19 years its held up rather well & still remains a worthy addition to the discographies of everyone involved.

always had a soft spot for Nobody wants to be lonely

I love Diana Warren and most of her ballads but I Turn To You is beyond bad imho and one of there worst things that woman has ever written

Can't bear it, I'm pretty sure I must have given it a lower score than 3.
I'm thinking the exact same

Maybe I didn't wanna be TOO harsh, but yeah. Not a favourite of mine at all. :puke:
