11. Shakira feat. Wyclef Jean – Hips Don’t Lie 171 points

So it is Shakira's massive hit 'Hips Don't Lie' which fails to qualify by just ONE point. :drama: Shakira was unsurprisingly top 10 earlier on during the vote-compiling stage. A lack of love later on ensured she fails to qualify. At least she still has 'Whenever, Wherever' in the final rate.

In alphabetical order, the top 10 songs from 2006 making it through to the final rate are:

Beyoncé – Irreplaceable

Cascada – Everytime We Touch

Madonna – Sorry

My Chemical Romance – Welcome To The Black Parade

Nelly Furtado – Maneater

Pink – U + Ur Hand

Pink – Who Knew

Pussycat Dolls feat. Snoop Dogg - Buttons

Scissor Sisters – I Don’t Feel Like Dancin’

Snow Patrol – Chasing Cars

Please join us tomorrow as Addy will be hosting the results for the 2007 heat. :cheer: In the meantime I would love to know your opinions on the qualifying 10 songs. :gaycat:

Gutted about Gnarls but never expected it to do much better here. I can deal with Shakira out, massively overrated and never at all expected it to not qualify!

YAS, slay, Pink!

I’m surprised Shakira fell short though!

Wow, surprising results, I thought Hips Don't Lie and Crazy were surefire qualifiers :o Sad about the latter particularly, but some wonderful choices of qualifier anyway, YES at MCR
I’m really impressed to see Chasing Cars qualify, I thought it was hated on here. Such a beautiful track, though I do prefer You’re All I Have.

I love the fact My Chemical Romance have qualified. There's quite a bit of diversity among the finalists so far. :cheer: And I agree T Boy, I was shocked to see the amount of love for Chasing Cars.

Beyoncé – Irreplaceable

Cascada – Everytime We Touch

Madonna – Sorry

Nelly Furtado – Maneater

Pink – U + Ur Hand

Pink – Who Knew

Pussycat Dolls feat. Snoop Dogg - Buttons

Scissor Sisters – I Don’t Feel Like Dancin’

Amazing :cheer:

Surprised but pleased Welcome To The Black Parade & Chasing Cars qualified. Sometimes Buzzjack do the right things. :D

Yassss in particular at Cascada, Nelly, Pink x2 & Snow Patrol, all classics <3 <3 <3 again a pretty great set of qualifiers *.*

and thank f*** Hips Don't Lie missed, making this even better :cheer:

2004:

Poor 'Hotel' on 0 points, given that R. Kelly's own songs got votes so that can't be the sole reason. lol that I did end up the only voter for 'Cha Cha Slide' :') Fitting since like I said in the thread I didn't know it until recently as opposed to, I'm guessing, it being overplayed and annoying to everyone in the UK. Aww I gave 'Tipsy' 56% of its points too, underrated (and poor Frankee too). Brian McFadden's solo career is kind of funny in that in the UK, it only lasted a year in 2004-2005 and immediately dried up, and his UK #1 only reached #54 in Australia ('Almost Here' was a #1 but obviously thanks to Delta) - but for some reason (perhaps Delta), he re-tried his solo career 4 years later in Australia and had a string of genuine hits here in 2008-2010, including a #1 hit in 2010 which charted in zero other countries. I don't expect 'Unwritten' would've made it either way (unfortunately) as it was only #111 of 2004 and not top 250 of 2005... have to go to the US charts to get justice for that one.

Oh wow at '5 Colours In Her Hair' not being McFly's highest - it's easily my favourite of theirs and I have it in mind as their biggest hit (even if that's incorrect with how high 'All About You' was in the next EOY). Nice to see 'Come With Me' top 40, easily my favourite discovery from this. Jason and I gave it 58% of its points. I was surprised (but pleased) 'Red Blooded Woman' made the list in the first place as I know most of her hits from this time were short-lived charters. Very surprised at 'Just Lose It' top 30! And wow at 'Some Girls' only #25 - it makes 'Sweet Dreams My LA Ex' being barely top 20 look better though! 'Flashdance' top 25

Poor GA losing both of their 2004 entries (that matter) in a row. Wow at O-Zone more popular than both!! 'I Wanna Have Your Babies' was only #110 of 2007, not especially close :kink: Aww 'These Words' and 'Milkshake' losing out too. WD 'Trick Me'!

2005:

Oh wow poor 'Over And Over', it was #25 for me! And is my 2nd favourite of Nelly's 5 songs that made it here (after 'Ride Wit Me'). I liked 'Roc Ya Body (Mic Check 1, 2)' too. Wow at 'Let Me Love You' so low for such a big song. Poor 'Locked Up' not benefiting from any lockdown topicality. 'Candy Shop' is much too low as well! Surprised the polarising, oft-hated 'My Humps' outranked the much more agreeable 'Don't Phunk With My Heart'. 'Crazy Chick' deserved better. Ok wow I'm surprised at 'Don't Lie' being BEP's highest because, although I know it well, it feels like the least big and most forgotten of pretty much all their hits  Wow at a 2005 Oasis song being top 25. Yay for 'They' and 'Doctor Pressure' top 25  lol 'Do It Well' was only #171 :kink:

Would've liked '1, 2 Step' higher! I checked and 'We Belong Together' was only 392 sales behind #1 ('Ghetto Gospel', in its 3rd week there) the week it debuted. Then it returned to #2 but with literally only 45% the sales of the #1 ('You're Beautiful'). Aww poor 'Hollaback Girl', would've really liked that top 10 (and it's my favourite song of hers). Wow at how well KT Tunstall did! Ouch at Gorillaz, but glad 'Clint Eastwood' was the one to make it

Nice to see 'Behind These Hazel Eyes', 'Dakota' and 'Don't Cha' (there's an R&B-ish one!) as somewhat less obvious ones, along with of course 'Hung Up'! I'm surprised 'Wake Me Up When September Ends' is so popular. A shame 'Boulevard Of Broken Dreams' missed out despite being top 100 of 2 separate years as I think it's a much stronger track.

Stereophonics were the biggest shock for me personally because I don't think I ever heard that song before but clearly it shows that is very popular in here.
haha I feel like it's been doing well in things as long as I've been on this site but I wasn't familiar with it until last year either (but I love it now!).

2006:

'Ridin' is way too low :( Surprised at 'Sexy Love' being more popular than 'So Sick'. Ouch 'Rock This Party' - I gave it 18 of 27 points  I actually wouldn't say 'You Got The Love' should've been replaced as it was a new remix! Which version people voted it based on, or whether people (like me) would've voted a '90s version but not this one, we just don't know. Poor 'Monster' which I think was my favourite of all the 'landfill indie' songs here (except for 'Dakota' if that counts), and 'I'll Be Ready'. Looks like The Zutons did not get bigger than they ever could've planned here. Surprised at Orson since I mainly know it for being the lowest selling UK #1 (or being that at one point or something).

Another Girls Aloud 11-20 placer! Not having the best of luck here. Wow at 'Unfaithful' beating 'SOS'. Poor 'Promiscuous' :( Great to see Cascada, Madonna, MCR, Nelly Furtado and double P!nk through! That's 6 of my top 8 actually :o

WHEN YOU BELIEVE - Leon Jackson 0
DON'T MATTER - Akon 0
HOME- Westlife 0
WHAT A WONDERFUL WORLD - Eva Cassidy & Katie Melua 0

And these are the songs that ended up on zero for 2007. Amazing isn't it!!!
#71-#61:

61 LOVE TODAY - Mika 12
62 AYO TECHNOLOGY - 50 Cent & Justin Timberlake & Timbaland 9
63 REAL GIRL - Mutya Buena 9
64 CUPID'S CHOKEHOLD - Gym Class Heroes 9
65 BIG GIRL (YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL) - Mika 6
66 (I'M GONNA BE) 500 MILES- The Proclaimers ft. Brian Potter & Andy Pipkin 4
67 WALK THIS WAY - Sugababes vs Girls Aloud 3
68 I WANNA LOVE YOU - Akon ft. Snoop Dogg 2
69 BEAUTIFUL GIRLS - Sean Kingston 2
70 CRANK THAT (SOULJA BOY) - Soulja Boy Tell’em 2
71 BECAUSE OF YOU - Ne-Yo 1

Sorry guys, I have no time to make any comment today :(

ok sorry again, I have to postpone this for later tonight :melb:

I'll text Scene, if he has time to reveal them for me...again apologies.

@Rush I'm surprised you're shocked 'Unfaithful' beat 'SOS' - I thought it is widely seen as the more popular and more remembered one of the two. (in the UK at least)

51. The View -Same Jeans 32 points

52. Kelis ft. Cee-Lo - Lil Star 31 points

53. Newton Faulkner - Dream Catch Me 29 points

54. James Blunt - 1973 29 points

55. The Hoosiers - Goodbye Mr. A 29 points

56. The Hoosiers - Worried About Ray 27 points

57. Just Jack - Starz In Their Eyes 25 points

58. Kylie Minogue - 2 Hearts 23 points

59. Shayne Ward - No U Hang Up 21 points

60. Scouting For Girls - She's So Lovely 15 points

In this section we lose a collaboration between two stars of this year's The Masked Singer UK in 'Lil Star' - this is likely to be Kelis' final entry of the decade as a lead artist. Kylie flops by her standards with '2 Hearts'. It seems Buzzjack just aren't here for that song.

41. Fall Out Boy - This Ain't A Scene It's An Arms Race 61 points

42. Maroon 5 - Makes Me Wonder 58 points

43. T2 ft. Jodie Aysha - Heartbroken 56 points

44. Plain White T's - Hey There Delilah 56 points

45. Take That - Shine 52 points

46. Eric Prydz vs Floyd - Proper Education 43 points

47. Klaxons - Golden Skans 43 points

48. Enrique Iglesias - Do You Know? 41 points

49. P. Diddy ft. Keyshia Cole - Last Night 37 points

50. Timbaland ft. Nelly Furtado & Justin Timberlake - Give It To Me 33 points

In this section we lose the collective diss track 'Give It To Me' - both Nelly and JT have qualifier so it isn't too much of a loss. Poor brave Enrique only managing #48 with his #3 hit. We also lose 'Shine' far earlier than I expected and Maroon 5 are unable to repeat their high positions in the 2004 results. Back-of-the-bus mobile phone anthem 'Heartbroken' is also a lot lower than I expected!

31-40

31. Alicia Keys - No One 88 points

32. Ida Corr vs Fedde Le Grand - Let Me Think About It 86 points

33. Mark Ronson ft. Daniel Merriweather - Stop Me 83 points

34. Christina Aguilera - Candyman 81 points

35. Beyoncé & Shakira - Beautiful Liar 80 points

36. Gossip - Standing In The Way Of Control 80 points

37. Rihanna - Shut Up And Drive 72 points

38. Camille Jones vs Fedde Le Grand - The Creeps 68 points

39. Kanye West - Stronger 65 points

40. Alex Gaudino ft. Crystal Waters - Destination Calabria 61 points

In the bottom quarter of the top 40 we lose some big ones! :o Rihanna's innuendo-filled follow-up to a certain monster hit still to come lands at #37. Too low! Gossip are also far too low! Beyonce & Shakira lose what I'm assuming is the only entry from either of them in this heat. Christina also loses her sole entry of 2007. Mark Ronson loses the fab 'Stop Me' but is still in the running with 'Valerie'.
