Hmm.. I hate to be that girl but this is really harsh and dare I say.. a little gross?

Public perception of them has changed, correct, but it was not down to them. Piers Morgan, a white right-wing man with a large following and is lauded for "kEepIng iT rEal", spent literally the entire month of November, and mostly December too, slating them on one of the UK's biggest, if not THE biggest, televised platforms. Sharing their pictures and consistently slating them, it's all down to sexism and how he wanted to control the narrative of the "feud".

To say that Little Mix are the ones who need to put the effort in to get the public to change their opinion of them is so incredibly sexist when it was a MAN who made that change. Little Mix have never been anything other than their authentic selves, so it doesn't really make sense to say that they should change it because then they'd be fake? And probably get called out for that too.

They're women in the industry, of course they're going to be painted badly, but they're also a girl group who have actual views and opinions and want to make a change, so they're penalised again. They don't need to change anything. They're in a natural decline that happens to literally all artists unless you're massive.. and even then no one is safe. Pop music isn't the norm anymore. They still sell, hell they're getting top 10s 9 years into their career. They don't need to change anything.

The Saturdays got support well into much lower depths of their career. Little Mix not be top teir big anymore but they've cemented themselves as British staples, they're still debuting top 20, and as long as they can continue to get top 40 hits I can't see them losing support for a long time? They're U.K. pop legends tbh!
Tbh the fact that they can still debut in the top 20 this far into their career is a great achievement. Especially considering the fact that other previously successful pop artists are struggling to go top 40 or even the top 100 with their latest singles (eg. Katy Perry, Ellie Goulding, Zara Larsson).

The Piers thing really got blown out of proportion. Stripping off IS something that is used to sell records in the industry and that's what Piers pointed out. He complimented the girls many times and said they were extremely talented and he wasn't personal with them until they started calling him names and trying to act like he had called them talentless sluts or something. I think many people can see that their 'Strip' video and the naked photoshoot was done for marketing and PR and to get attention towards the album, it's not a bad thing. That's what pop stars do. They do stuff like that to sell records. You're saying he 'literally' spent about a month and a half slagging off Little Mix on TV? Upon a quick Google search it seems like he spent about 5 minutes discussing it on GMB on two seperate occasions and sent a few Tweets out. They're the ones who wanted to put a lookalike of him in a Wasabi video?

And for the record I don't think public perception of them has changed at all but I don't think anyone - unless you listen to Capital FM and watch music channels all day - is even aware that they've brought out so much songs since LM5. They haven't performed on TV since Bounce Back and that was a huge flop.

This is not it.

What they did fits with the song theme, had a purpose. It wasn’t random, the song wasn’t even a sexy song. Men use their bodies to attract attention all the time and this was not what they did there and if it was there was no need for Piers to point it out. There isn’t any point in him doing so, you can’t say it wasn’t slutshaming because the mere fact that he took time off of his show to reinforce the message that they were resorting to their bodies to sell music is sexism at is purest form. Don’t want to get too deep into this discussion, but it definitely wasn’t as simple as pointing something out. It’s a shame you think so.

I love this thread.

This is honestly me before and after what about us

Aight, no, let's back up.

Sex sells, yes, we all know that. But that photoshoot was not intended to be sexy, if you found it sexy.. then cool that's your deal. But the photoshoot was not intended to be sexy, it was intended to be liberating, considering the song it went with was Strip. Which definitely isn't sex. It's meant to allow "lesser" bodies feel sexy, but it definitely isn't a sexual song. That sort of campaign is quintessential Little Mix.

He consistent badgered them, especially Jesy, especially her pictures she was uploading. The whole argument was "they aren't good rolemodels", that's why he attacked them. He swiped at them first. Then Julia Hartley-Brewer joined in and $l*t shamed them- which was especially hypocritical considering when 5SOS did their similar shoot she was drooling.

Pop stars do use sex to sell, but not all of them, and if they were going to use sex they would be overly sexy. Not sat completely naked with insults written all over them. Piers was not nice throughout the entire thing, he attacked first, Jesy responded and then they were quiet for ages and he kept going. Regardless of how many times he did it (It was throughout a long period, like it or not-it was constant) he did it unprovoked.

And then when they did Wasabi live, he even tried to reignite the drama despite the fact he had signed the release and so did his bosses at Good Morning Britain.

Defending a man for $l*t shaming an innocent girl group and then making it out to be their fault? chile I thought ATRL was the messy forum.

Not in the Top 20 in the first look, which is not surprising. Just hope it’s not too far.

Is Ava doing very well on some other platform? I don’t get how Holiday’s behind her when it’s above on Itunes, Spotify and Apple Music.

I love how somebody managed to reach "sexism" out of my reply. Jesus Harold Christ, that escalated quickly.

I'm very much behind them and want them to continue succeeding. Also I find it "gross" to suggest I'd take the vile Pierced Organ's side in their argument.

Ava Max is doing very well on Amazing streaming, which is double-counted on the 1st Look Chart relative to Spotify/Apple,

that's why Ava Max is always higher on the 1st Look Chart than on the final Friday chart.

How’s this doing on Amazon Streaming?

78 which explains why it isn’t too 20.

Oh right, hopefully it increases soon?

Down to 50 on Spotify but i was expecting it to drop out with it being the Sunday update tbh.
