They are interested in the single.....

They may say they are not but they are. Kylie could have released nothing and still got big pre orders on Thursday and Friday of this week from loyal fans.

She is regularly clearing playlists, Tiktok, lyric video etc. It's all to draw attention to the song, not just the album it's on. Most casual Kylie fans will not pre order an album 3 months in advance but maybe will stream, download a song.

BMG helped Kylie get a top 40 hit in 2018 with their marketing and mid week digi bundle release on her website. They have gimmicks that can work.

Selling CD single at 4.99 or 5.99 she would get plenty of sales and those prices should cover the cost.

You seem to forget that a successful song can also promote an album by getting a good chart position...

I am not telling BMG to spend a fortune but they are capable of generating sales and I hope they still have something up their sleeve.

Her YouTube views should go up considerably when the video arrives also. And the remixes will also boost streaming with various versions.

The main thing stopping Kylie from singles success is simply Streaming playlists. The end.

Indeed! Although I assume she "lost" a fair few of downloads from her fanbase on Thursday so it maybe makes sense that her streams are better.

Around 1700 sales lost from Thursday and also probably a little bit of streaming also from inquisitive listeners

52 (NEW) Say Something

Sales: 3218

Yesterday: 1746

Digital: 1174

Streaming: 2044

Video streams: 29,498

186 (RE) Step Back In Time

Sales: 314

Yesterday: 124

Yesterdays rank: 169

Sales WoW +40%

Another 3k and she might stay top 75, good to see sbit getting some sales now aswell.

OCC don’t receive Thursday streaming data in time for the Friday chart, so they estimate it based on the trends of Friday-Wednesday streaming. With Kylie released on Thursday, that means that OCC wouldn’t have been able to include whatever her Thursday streaming sales would have been.

Sorry but a CD single priced at under £6 would likely make them next to no money considering only a few thousand people (if that?) would actually purchase it. They're not going to do it if they're not going to make a reasonable profit.

Also I never said they weren't interested in the single - I said they weren't interested in the chart position of it (i.e. whether it charts at 52 or 152)

I know this. What I meant was. The inquisitive casual listeners will have listened and streamed it on Thursday instead of Friday when it would have counted to this weeks charts.

I disagree. Charts equal success to many people and a top 40 chart placing would get it played on Radio 1 etc and potential new fans and album purchases.

And sometimes keeping fans happy and releasing a few physical singles will pay off in long term. Happy fans = spend money on tour tickets, merch etc while on the Kylie. Com store

If 'Say Something' sold at the same rate for the rest of the week, it would finish on 10,202 which would have been enough for #45 last week! :o

I doubt it'll end up selling that much, tomorrow will give a clearer picture.

I do not inderstand those figures. No way did it sell more on Sunday than it did on Friday and Saturday combined......

Unlikely. Will joe public (and your casual Kylie fans) care that Dancing got to #38 in the singles chart or if Say Something was to reach the top 75? Probably not. Will they buy a physical CD single in 2020? Probably not. They would, however, buy / stream the album and buy concert tickets.

The only people who would buy a physical single would very likely be going to concerts anyway, so I think it's strange to say that releasing a physical CD single (perhaps at a loss to the record company) would lead to more ticket sales and thus be a worthy investment all in.

I meant while they are purchasing a CD single from the Kylie Shop they may have a look at other stuff on sale. It could draw Kylie fans to browse and also draw them to her store rather than buying Disco off Amazon. Plus it isn't going to lose them that much money.... Gosh people release albums and sell them for 3.99 straight away. I am sure they could take a few hundred pound loss to give her a boost. Even having a physicals number one in UK Official charts is good promo

A Top 40 or Top 75 is recorded and each further one she achieves adds to that total.

Achieving one of these placements does add to artists with the most Top 40 or 75 hits.

With the charts changed so much some of the current acts such as drake are getting top 40 hits even as features like no tomorrow so kylie is prob well down the list now but is still like to see her tally going up.

Looks like Madonna going to get a huge hit and leave Kylie struggling for a hit single lol. I almost think Dua Lipa only said she wanted to work with Kylie because it was GQ and Paul Solomons connections probably forced her lol

Dua Lipa releases Levitating remix featuring Madonna and Missy Elliot 14th August.

Kylie will probsbly release her Say Something remixes on 13th August lol

This is the sort of thing Kylie should be doing more. Or have bigger features with top stars.

I imagine a lot of it is from missing data being added. Updates from across the weekend usually need to be taken with a pinch of salt - as I say, tomorrow's update will probably give a clearer picture of how its selling and where it might end up on Friday's chart.
