I get what you’re saying but I just don’t think it’s a priority at all, It’s all just to promote the album, if they really wanted to push for a high position they would release on a Friday but they chose not too.

No reason other that higher exposure and doesn’t get lost in rush or new releases
Kylie and her team know they are not going to get huge hit singles now - in the grand scheme of things it matters to nobody of it gets to #57 or #87 due to it being released midweek rather than on a Friday, the only people that care are fans. She will still get support from Radio 2 and media which will sell the album the only reason singles are released.

If they released on a Friday though, she would stand a better chance of getting a higher position for first week though. No, it’s not going to be a big hit like in the 80s and 00s but the release strategy is just odd.

But who cares if it’s higher in the first week, getting 42 in the first week or 78 in the first week makes no difference. Yeah ok so top 40 looks ok I suppose but that’s only when it’s streaming, iTunes and physical all within the same week and then it plummets.

It’s all about the album. Fans are just going to keep being disappointed with every single release

The thing is though, it'd perform just the same on the iTunes chart even if it was released on Friday with her fanbase all buying it. I just don't understand the rationale behind the Thursday release.
I assume it’s for the music articles that would discuss that song only for one day, all press is good press I assume 😂
Their new strategy makes me care less if Kylie gets another top 40 or even top 75 entry ever again. They don't care about first day sales and peak positions anymore, but fans should buy vinyl, remix ep etc of Say Something for a great chart position for chart week novemeber 6th. Yeah, we will do that for sure (not).

Why would it plummet because of releasing on a Friday

Say Something hadn't plummeted it's stayed top 100 on iTunes for 8 weeks.

Kylie releasing on Friday would have been fine with Taylor releasing am album same day lol, Kylie was three months pre order

Not many people will now pre order Disco because of Magic they will wait and buy on release day and a few days before. The big Kylie Fans have already pre ordered, the casuals wont. So give the single a shot of a top 40 position and Radio 1 play.

Instead they have gone for an obscure Aussie radio station to play it first on Thursday morning so it will probably be available in UK on Wednesday night?

Thursday gives Kylie no more exposure than a Friday, whoever else releases.

Anyhow they have made the decision but please stop saying Kylie can't get a top 40 hit, she can easily if wanted.

Exactly and they clearly don’t want to. I meant it will plummet from its first weeks position. Dancing only got top 40 because they threw physicals, steaming, prime time slot and iTunes at it, just for 1 singular week. I would rather they spread it out and concentrated on the album. 1 singular play on radio doesn’t bother me, I’m all about album success. Fans need to accept that top 40 singles are obviously not their goal.

I think it is going to be very different to Say Something.

The 5 Golden singles showed wide variety and I think they will repeat that route with Disco.

I would be happy with that, i think the singles really showcased golden as an album, the singles were all so different showing the album had variety, the 1st and last single just show how different some of the sounds were on the album so hopefully disco has a good variety aswell.

From The Sun

In the chorus to the uplifting and catchy tune, she sings: “Dancing together, nothing that could be better.

“Tomorrow don’t matter, we’ll make the night last for ever.”

She says: “These songs are from the same realm, which is really nice. Both were written last year and the lyrics with Say Something seemed tailor-made for some of us now. But Magic, I just adore that song.

Looks like she likes Magic more than Say Something so that's good!

Magic appears meaningful to Kylie and we all know she has created Magic in many forms for decades now.

I think it’s more of the fact that they know Kylie is not going to get a big single so if it’s #52 or #78 based on which day it’s released it doesn’t mean anything - Radio, media and TV will still support regardless so they may as well give the album some exposure by getting Kylie high on the iTunes chart on a Thursday.

The only ones that care about chart positions are fans now - the general public would believe ‘Dancing’ had been a huge chart hit rather than peaking at #38, it done it’s job of selling the album and that’s all that matters now. I’d love Kylie to get Top 40’s but just realistic that without multiple physicals, remixes and an iTunes price reduction all happening in one week it’s not going to happen - and for what? For it to go 36-out?
