I always saw Kelly as more of a mentor to LM than Tulisa and I think it's down to actually seeing her care about them and guiding them down the path that they went on to eventually win X Factor with. If it wasn't for her mentioning their "En Vogue harmonies" I really don't think we'd have been given that 'Don't Let Go (Love)' performance!

I mean, Kelly was probably more on the ball with the 'technical' side of things (picking girls from various groups and reshuffling over and over until four girls looked 'right', commenting on vocals and harmonies) but you can't deny Tulisa's dedication and emotional attachment to the girls. She adored them. I think her relationship with Little Mix was probably one of the few genuine ones the show had ever seen.

Definitely don't disagree re. Tulisa and her impact, btw. The bond they had is very clear to me and I agree closer than any other contestant/mentor on X Factor ever. In terms of critique and getting the absolute best out of them on the show (which is what got them the win) I feel Kelly was the most instrumental in that role.

But anyway, I love that Kelly has been praising them on social media and in interviews throughout their career and it always throws me off for a split second before realising she was actually a very big part in their existence as a group lmao.

I always felt a bit embarrassed and annoyed that the only other time Kelly got to see them perform live (after Move on X-Factor USA which was amazing) was Bounce Back on The Voice in Australia.

Kelly was definitely not more of a mentor to LM than Tulisa. The issue girlbands faced on that show was about their image and how they came across to the public, and it was Tulisa who helped them bond and had them over at her house etc etc.

Asides from some sound bites each week, I don’t see how Kelly offered any real ongoing tailored support to them.

I'd be praising them on social media a lot more if I literally put them together myself though.

Having re-watched the entire xfactor series recently including looking at the voting statistics each week, I think they were destined to do well from the start, especially by week 4 when they changed their name to Little Mix. It was the same week Jesy shared her experiences, and the public could relate with her vulnerability. It was also when it became clear they support each other and had great bond. And that was equally when they performed ET (which I enjoyed as much as - if not more than - Don't Let Go). That week, they came 2nd. A girl group had never done that well.

In week 6, the judges criticised them heavily for being in one direction for too long and not showing off vocals. Yet, they still came 3rd that week ( behind Janet who was a favourite at the time, and Amelia with her comeback factor).

Semifinals, their performances were highly criticised, and even Leigh-Anne forgot her lyrics. Everyone thought they were going home. That was the week they won with the greatest percentage in the entire series!

I personally think that their winning that show was beyond talent. It was their relatability, their bond/friendship, and their likeability. There was something different and very likeable about them, so their fans and voters were (and still are) usually passionate. And Tulisa helped with that image, even though it was pretty clear for all to see.

BTW, there's a rumour Saweetie is joining them on stage for the final show. Apparently she tweeted few weeks ago asking where she'd stay in London. Also they've never used her lines in confetti in any of the shows so far. I really hope it's true! They should invite Stormzy as well!

^^^ YouTube video of their purportedly lipped vocals on this tour.

Am I being naive in thinking some of those vocals sounded live? I get that it'd be extremely difficult delivering such degree of vocals every night on tour, but still....

LMOLM was skipped the other night cos Leigh had a bit of cough, or not so?

I guess I'll have to wait till Tuesday when I see them live to find out.

I haven't watched the video yet but I'd say from watching most performances from each show the majority of it sounds exact same (especially Woman Like Me) and the only obviously live sections are the ballads.

i think they always sound different and if it's not really obvious but fair play tbf

they've messed up their lyrics on numerous occasions during songs too.

I’m yet to see them live on this tour (Saturday night!!!), but I am sceptical with that video.

Yes there are obviously some parts that they lip sync which goes for every pop singer/group who have a full on show to perform each night (even Beyonce), but some of the clips in that video are actually live. We don’t really need to speculate, I think they’re more live than they’re not and actually they’re damn good singers.
