There is no evidence of this, if there is I will gladly apologise.

No I don’t actually and that is all collated through 1 company so it realistic that someone can get that information. My point is that 1 person would not be to get sales data from 2 completely different companies.

How do preorders numbers actually work. Is it just based on how many copies for example Amazon/HMV buy in for their shops/online to meet demand for orders etc? Or does the record company get alerted for every single sale of a CD pre release, or do Official Chart have a secret data collection from each outlet etc?

The closeness of those preorders doesn’t bode well for Kylie. But to be fair Little Mix have really been working for it, with multiple batches of signed copies, lots of prereleases to generate interest etc so they deserve them. It’s so odd that Kylie has barely engaged this era, Graham Norton is going to have to do a lot of heavy lifting for her to still be in this race.
Double post - but just to add, Kylie relies soo much on in your face TV and radio promo and she has done pretty much none of it this year.

Kylie and BMG will want longevity of the album more than number 1. They are not releasing in November for a number 1 album. They want to be able to get promo and sales. BMG are doing same for the likes of Mcfly and Steps with releases and strategies like Kylie.

Kylie doesn't get Radio 1 or Spotify playlisted. She needs to promote like she will below. It's also no need to do all promo in same release week, it needs to spread out over several weeks and try to keep the album top 75 until after Xmas

Well what have we got lined up so far for release week?

6th Nov. Graham Norton. Interview & Magic single

7th Nov. Global Livestream of Infinite Disco

Week-long: chart battle with Little Mix on social media/news

Possibilities. Radio 2 Zoe Ball on Friday Morning? Lorraine snippet/interview?

Other possible promo Nov/Dec

J Ross - Likely

Children in Need - Possibly

Strictly - Likely

The One Show - Likely

TV special - Wish List

BBC Breakfast - Probably

GMB - Probably

Sunday Brunch - Unlikely

Loose Women - Unlikely

This Morning - Likely

Royal Variety - Possibly

More Radio promo?

Infinite Disco screened on TV? - Possibly

The Voice - Possibly

Jools Holland - Likely

Releases: Disco on all formats. Vinyl versions of Say Something and Magic . Will we get digital bundles for both from her store midweek? Likely. Will we have any more remixes on the Friday 6th...maybe F9 of Say Something?

Black Friday: Deluxe Vinyl of Disco released

11th Dec: Japanese version of Disco released

Fingers crossed she gets at least 1/2 of those TV slots etc.

There has literally been nothing to do since she released the album on pre release. It will be scheduled. Give her a chance! She has done loads of interviews and photo photos etc. Subtle.

The TV Promo will come as it always does

I'm veering towards thinking Little Mix will get this now, they've really smashed it out of the park with the new single and I think that will do well.

Rooting for Kylie though!

Jools Holland ends on Nov 6th btw, and she's not on that one.

Oh i meant like a pre recording for the New Year thing he does? Or an Xmas Special one.

Maybe singing an Acoustic version of Say Something

Imagine Kylie doing a New Year Disco stream or even her Infinite Disco Livestream from 7th Nov being shown on New Year's Eve on BBC ♥️

They where happy in August with the pre orders. This was obviously before Little Mix announced. I really don't think BMG and Kylie are too bothered, in fact they probably using the battle and the Kylie 5 decade thing as easy free promo.

I am sure Kylie would rather have 100,000 sales spread over Nov-Jan than a number 1 album selling 35,000 then plummeting in week 2 and out of top 100 by December.

Can Kylie Minogue crack the US with her Disco album?

Can Kylie Minogue crack the US with her Disco album?

BMG UK boss Alistair Norbury has told Music Week that the Kylie Minogue campaign for new album Disco has so far been a “perfect storm”, based on its early international success.

Following her signing to BMG, the label scored a No.1 album with Golden in 2018, her first chart-topper since 2010. Golden has 156,423 sales to date (including 22,726 from streams), according to the Official Charts Company.

BMG and Minogue repeated the chart feat last year with Step Back In Time – The Definitive Collection (released in partnership with Rhino), which has sales of 124,479 (30,732 from streams). So hopes are high for her 15th studio album, Disco, released on November 6.

“We’re having a fantastic time with Kylie,” said Norbury, BMG UK president, repertoire and marketing. “We’re 100% ahead of where we were [at this stage] on Golden already. That’s on every metric: streaming, social media, Amazon pre-orders, D2C pre-orders, video views. And what's very exciting is the US response, which is the biggest response since the heyday, and there’s already lots of interest at US radio.”

Golden peaked at No.64 in the US Top 200 albums. Her biggest Hot 100 hit remains 1988’s Locomotion (No.3), while Can’t Get You Out Of My Head made No.7 in 2002.

Lead single Say Something has achieved new career peaks for Minogue in the US. Earlier this month, it opened at No.19 in Hot Dance/Electronic Songs and No.3 in Dance/Electronic Digital Song Sales.

In the UK, the single has so far peaked at No.82, with 13,265 sales to date. Radio 2 is on board once again for the singer, with the track on the station’s A-list. Minogue has 5,780,104 monthly Spotify listeners.

Norbury said the coronavirus restrictions have altered the roll-out of global campaigns, which previously involved expensive international promo trips.

“What we’ve achieved on Kylie is that perfect storm, where we're currently setting up to sell more records than last time without the cost of promotion, because she's not going anywhere,” he told Music Week.

“When we launched the Golden album, we were all in Soho House in Berlin with Kylie and Hartwig [Masuch, BMG CEO] and it got off to a great start. But this time, she launched the album from her house. So, while you will see some very exciting, big promo things coming, they're going to be much more focused.”

Norbury suggested it was an opportunity for labels to reassess the scale of promo plots for global artists.

“I'm hoping that there's a re-education of how we will promote moving forward,” he said. “Yes, we will still do big things, but we don't necessarily need to zoom around the world and do TV in every country and everything that's offered.”

Of course BMG want Kylie to get the number 1 album...

They want the exposure of an album in each decade etc..

Honestly, Kylie stans need to chill out a bit it's becoming ridiculous.

Kylie's hardly a big seller anymore, she relies majorly on her hardcore loyal fanbase.

I mean a top 100 single, it's hardly groundbreaking! The way people are talking is like she's scoring massive number 1 singles...

She's not even top 20 on iTunes with her latest instant grat.

Kylie's last two albums are certified gold. In this day and age, and relying mostly on pure sales, that's a good outcome! She is a pretty big seller and there's clearly public interest in her too, considering how many people went to see her Glastonbury performance and how many watched on the TV too.

I'm not denying she does well but some people need to just take a breath.

I think it's you that needs to chill lol. Kylie fans are well aware of her chart positions and sales etc. We are just chatting

!!!

I put Kylie because I think she has the older audience who are more likely to buy a physical copy. I would love Little Mix to do it though.

It’s a good thing we aren’t talking about a competition in the singles chart then isn’t it? I’m sure I don’t need to explain to you about the difficulty a 52 year old woman is going to have with getting radio play outside radio 2 and any Spotify playlist exposure.

u cant really compare... Kylie has been an internationally renowed pop star legend for 33 years selling more than 80 million records worldwide, while Little Mix is a manufactured girl group created by Simon Cowell a few years ago as the female One Direction without any major success outside their home country...

Haha let's not pretend Kylie isn't every bit as manufactured as Little Mix were. She was given a music career because she was a pretty popular character from a TV soap and was manufactured in exactly the same way by Pete Waterman. She doesn't write her own songs and relies on others for her career. She hasn't been a "renowned pop star legend for 33 years" she was very much seen as pop fodder in her early days, she has been a legend since 2000 onwards. Also Little Mix have been together for nearly 10 years now, hardly "a few years ago."

I'll always be a Kylie fan over most other acts, but comments like these are incredibly hypocritical.
