I don't know anything about B.O.B's conspiracy theories (he hasn't been on my radar since 2011 lol) but it is shocking how he fell out of relevance so quickly!

I'll break my "rule" of showing the video for the debut here as it was shown in the B.O.B. post just a few days ago. Here's some others instead

Three chart appearences in 2010, the highest peaking one of them being as one of many rappers featured on Tinie Tempah's "Game Over", but in a similar case to Gucci Mane above, we then had to wait another five years before Giggs was back in the UK Top 100.

Part of the gap can be explained by him spending 6 month in custody on remand in 2012, one of many run-ins with the police he had at the time.

He has made frequent collaborations with other urban artists, including two tracks with Drake. One of those tracks "KMT" saw Giggs get his first and only UK Top 10 singles credit.

Other than that, he charted four songs from "Warm 2 Dem" in October 2017, and two from "Big Bad" in the same week in March 2019.

DAISY DARES YOU

British female singer, born Daisy Coburn, 5/11/93

13 Mar 10 Number One Enemy (Daisy Dares You featuring Chipmunk) 13 6 wks

Total Hits : 1 Total Weeks : 6

A favourite of mine and the time, and it was a shame that the follow-up "Rosie" never got a proper release and the album never got released at all.

Daisy was 16 at the time, and "Number One Enemy" was written about sibling rivalry with her sister Scarlett. Look out for a very young looking Chipmunk in the video where he introduces himself as "munk". Now of course he uses the other half of his previous artist name, including on a New Entry on the chart revealed today.

She has been performing under her birth name since 2010, in local bands in the Brighton area and occasionally solo.

I totally forgot that second Giggs/Donae'O track existed. Was nowhere near as good as 'Lock Doh', I wish their chart peaks were reversed (though 'Lock Doh' has twice as many total streams as 'Linguo' on Spotify despite its lower peak and is Giggs' most streamed song overall so I imagine it is by far the better remembered song anyway). 'Look What The Cat Dragged In' was a tune back in the day as well, and '10/10' his most recent hit was also great among several others in his discog ~

BTW you have a typo in the name of 'Man Don't Care'!

Daisy Dares You really seemed to just fall off the face of the planet entirely after her one hit.

Thanks for pointing the typo out; with over 38000 records in the system, I'm not surprised there is an error or two and I'm always happy when someone identifies them

As for Daisy, I believe she had a falling out with the record company, they wanted to drastically change her image and she didn't.

GRAMOPHONEDZIE

Serbian male DJ, born Marko Milićević, 19/5/79

13 Mar 10 Why Don't You 12 8 wks

Total Hits : 1 Total Weeks : 8

Or Марко Милићевић in his native Cyrillic script.

The only Serbian artist in my database, he is a bona-fide One Hit Wonder, even Wikipedia lists no chart positions for any country for any song other than "Why Don't You"

He did win an MTV Europe Music Award, for the rather specific "Best Adriatic Act" in 2010, following in the footsteps of such illustrious names as Siddharta, Elvir Laković Laka and the Lollobrigida Girls. No, me neither.

NAUGHTY BOY

14 Dec 17 Dimelo (Rak-Su featuring Wyclef & Naughty Boy) 2 10 wks

Naughty Boy came to prominence with a partnership with Emeli Sandé, four of his first five chart appearances were with Sandé in one form or another, and they co-wrote the majority of songs on Sandé's huge "Our Version Of Events" album

"Never Be Your Woman" borrows heavily from White Town's 1997 Number One "Your Woman"

The "other" one of those five hits was his own massive seller, "La La La" with Sam Smith who was far from the household name we know today. "La La La" has sold over 1.3 million in the latest sales figures on the "Millionaire" thread in the Sales Vault part of this site.

Since the Sandé era, he had a No. 4 hit with a Beyoncé feature, and was a featured credit himself on the début single of 2017 X-Factor winners Rak-Su

Nowadays he's started to permeate the "celebrity" circle, with an appearance on "Pointless Celebrities" a couple of weeks ago

Rak-su, now THERE'S a pointless answer waiting to happen...

Entirely understandable why he was a one hit wonder but Gramophonedzie has to be one of my favourite one hit wonders. I am rather surprised that there has apparently never been a single other Serbian artist to chart in the UK though.

I always forget that 'Runnin' (Lose It All)' charted as high as #4 for some reason. Arrow Benjamin (who?) has to be one of the luckiest people in music to be involved in a collaboration with Beyoncé out of thin air. Having looked it up I see he also had writing credits and backing vocals on one of the songs on 'Lemonade' but Wikipedia offers no insight as to anything he did before suddenly bursting onto the scene with these Beyoncé collabs, and he's done almost nothing of note since either.

I had to do a double take when preparing this entry, I had completely forgot that Tinie Tempah had no less than seven number ones, including four in a row in 2014-5. Of course, he played the "collaboration card" very well, with four of those chart toppers being as a featured artist. Nevertheless it's an impressive total, which puts him into very rarified territory, with only 15 acts ever having more, and is second only to Eminem in terms of rappers.

"Pass Out" was a huge hit, even if some of the lyrics are a little bizzare - "I got so many clothes I keep some in my aunt's house", rhyming "Concorde" and "Scunthorpe" for a couple of examples.

To be fair, his rap style did mature as the years went by

Some of his later hits sound like two separate records spliced together for no apparent reason rather than something that has been designed to be one composition from the beginning, the Jess Glynne collaboration "Not Letting Go" being a prime example. Either half works on its own, but together they seem to have little in common.

The hits began to dry up after "Girls Like" but he did make a cameo appearance in the Top 100 six months ago alongside Not3s

GENERAL FIASCO

Northern Irish male vocal/instrumental group - Stuart Bell, Stephen Leacock and brothers Enda & Owen Strathern

20 Mar 10 Ever So Shy 87 1 wk

Total Hits : 1 Total Weeks : 1

There have been several acts from Northern Ireland who have had long and successful UK chart careers. General Fiasco were not one of them.

For some reason, they were slightly more successful in New Zealand, with both this and "We Are The Foolish" making the Kiwi Top 40.

SIDNEY SAMSON FEATURING WIZARD SLEEVE

Dutch male DJ (born 2/10/81) with American male rappers/producers Lex One (Alex Cruz), Mike Beatz (Michael Barnett) and DJ/producer Pusher FM (Pedro Calcano)

16 Jan 10 Riverside (Let's Go) 2 19 wks

Total Hits : 1 Total Weeks : 19

Originally a house record with the vocals just consisting the same phrase as the XNRG cover version above (here sampled from Tupac Shakur), the hit record was augmented by a rap track by Wizard Sleeve.

Neither Samson nor Wizard Sleeve ever bothered the Top 100 again.

To show how much of a "one trick pony" he was, Samson made a reworking of the same basic song with Tujamo in 2018, and later that same year yet another version with Oliver Heldens called "Riverside 2099". He does, however, have a more successful career thread as a club DJ.

So many many many fond memories of nights out with friends dancing away drunk as f*** to this song 🥰

MCLEAN

British male singer, born Anthony McLean, 23/4/80. He is the nephew of Bitty McLean

20 Mar 10 My Name 10 9 wks

26 Jun 10 Finally In Love 44 2 wks

Total Hits : 2 Total Weeks : 11

Bitty McLean had three top 10 hits in the early 90s, with "It Keeps Rainin' (Tears From My Eyes)" reaching No. 2 (stopped from reaching the top of the charts by Culture Beat's "Mr Vain")

Forward to 2010 and Bitty's nephew Anthony also hit the Top 10, his first hit in his own right, but he had also appeared on a No. 10 single six months earlier as part of the Young Soul Rebels with their cover of the Killers' "All These Things That I've Done", retitled "I Got Soul".

Anthony's brother Aaron was a professional footballer, playing for Peterborough United, Hull City (including one subsitute appearance in a Premier League match) and Bradford City among other clubs.

I actually preferred the quirky lyrics in Tinie's earlier hits - he lost a bit of individuality when he stopped including so many comedic lines.

General Fiasco is the first one 'hit' wonder so far that I don't recall at all (I do vaguely recognise the artist name but that's about it). That McLean top 10 hit was incredibly tedious.

STEVE AOKI

American male DJ/producer, born 30/11/77

20 Mar 10 I'm In The House (Steve Aoki featuring Zuper Blahq) 29 3 wks

16 Jul 11 Turbulence (Laidback Luke & Steve Aoki featuring Lil Jon) 66 3 wks

22 Dec 16 Just Hold On (Louis Tomlinson & Steve Aoki) 2 15 wks

08 Nov 18 Waste It On Me (Steve Aoki featuring BTS) 57 1 wk

Total Hits : 7 Total Weeks : 30

Another king of collaborations, all seven of his hits are jointly credited one way or another, but at least he has given us a wide range of partners from Linkin Park to Louis Tomlinson.

"Just Hold On" was his only Top 20, and probably sold much more on the Tomlinson name than Aoki's to be honest.

He is a very successful club DJ, doing tours reminiscent of rock stars rather than DJs, even getting a name for crowd surfing etc. and was named in the top 10 of DJ Magazine's Top 100 DJs for seven straight years from 2013-19.

(oh, and if you didn't know, "Zuper Blahq" on Aoki's debut hit was an alias of Will.I.Am)

20 Nov 10 Deja Vu (Inna featuring Bob Taylor) 60 2 wks

Very few Eastern European acts have had long-term UK chart success, including those from Romania. Inna's four hits only rails one other Romanian act, which I'll leave for someone else to guess.

"Hot", her debut single, was compared to New Order and David Guetta, while the synthesizer sounds were likened to Boney M's "Ma Baker"! Perhaps it's just better for us to appreciate it for what it is.

ROX

British female singer/songwriter, born Roxanne Tataei

27 Mar 10 My Baby Left Me 91 1 wk

Total Hits : 1 Total Weeks : 1

Nine out of the next 10 acts were one-hit wonders, so don't expect very long postings about them. Two of the nine do have a more extensive resume (outside the singles chart) though.

Roxanne Tataei, aka Rox, isn't one of the two. This song did get a little higher in some European countries (according to Wikipedia at least)
