Kimberley's book put me off her too. She barely had one kind word to say about Nadine or Sarah in it! Obviously we don't know a lot of what happened behind closed doors... but after 10 years, the main comment she made about Sarah is that she didn't think they'd have ever been friends if they'd not been in the group together (which seemed to me like a bit of an unnecessary/cruel thing to point out in a book).

Kimberley and Nadine came across like they were great friends during the Popstars: The Rivals and the earlier days of the band (for a time they lived together!)... there must have been some nice stories to tell of those times, but she didn't share anything.

Whatever her issues were with Nadine must have been very fresh in her mind when the book came out. Clearly Kimberley (and Cheryl/Nicola) had major grievances with Nadine, but I don't think Kimberley's book justified why things got so bad between them. From memory, things Kimberley didn't appreciate: Nadine moving to LA, getting a solo manager towards the end of the Tangled Up era, and stuff like Nadine not being very good at being on time. Idk, it all seemed petty. I doubt many readers of that book would have thought "yeah, I see where Kimberley is coming from".

I'm not sure why Nadine having solo ambitions was so frowned upon, because Cheryl put the ground work in for her solo career during Tangled Up too (that's when she became an X Factor judge), and then she recorded 3 Words during the Out of Control era. Fight for This Love premiered in September 2009, the same month that Girls Aloud embarked on their hiatus. It's not like Cheryl wasted any time. So I've never understood why they resented Nadine for this and not Cheryl.

I was completely obsessed with Girls Aloud during their hey day, so a part of me will always find it a shame that they went on hiatus just as they hit their commercial peak. I'll always believe if they'd released a 6th album it would have been even bigger than Out of Control!

Meh, it's all in the past. If everything is better between them on a personal level now, that's good!

A 6th album without a hiatus would have met with great success.Their hiatus came at the wrong time.

Kimberleys book highlight there was 2 Girls Aloud teams, Cheryl, Nicola and Kimberley in one and Sarah and Nadine in the other.

The book in many ways diminished the perception of the group which wasn't necessary.

From Sarah's perspective though she always comes across as feeling like she was just left out a lot from the Cheryl / Nicola / Kimberley clique rather than it being 2 teams C/N/K and S/N... I'm starting to question whether Nicola is my favourite personality now, I might go with Sarah as the C/N/K clique does appear a little bitchy from the outset afterall.

THIS THIS THIS THIS!!!

Cheryl put the work in even before that featuring on Will-I-Am's Heartbreaker which went top 5.

Also I never ever got the reasoning for taking a break when the girls were at their peak, other than to give Cheryl a chance to release her solo stuff I mean she had it all ready to go in perfect timing... in which case the hate against Nadine is so uncalled for.

I was drawn to Nicola as soon as I first set eyes on the 5 of them, and I was happy to learn later that it was not only superficial attraction, her personality and solo music lived up to my expectations.

I don't dislike any of them, but I'm OK with "least liked", so Nadine ended up at #5 on the personality contest - there's a reason the others no longer wanted to put up with her, and I didn't appreciate her playing the victim in the break-up story to score points with the fans (of course she wanted the band to go on, her solo career was dead and buried at that point).

Musically, I don't have a strong preference apart from my #1 spot, but for the sake of completing my vote, I went with Kimberley as least liked.

when she saw nadines popularity on im a celeb she just changed her opinion.

May I ask what is this (quite frequently mentioned) observation based on?

I might be a bit ignorant on the subject, but I don't recall Kimberley slagging off Nadine too much since her book came out, and I'm fairly certain when she said "I think she's gonna be a great mum" in this interview, it wasn't because she knew how Nadine's going to come across in a TV show 6 years later.

Fave member - Nadine (obviously darling!)

Least fave - Kimberley (in the band she was pretty weak vocally, and she only ever seems to do interviews talking about the more famous members of the band :'))

Fave Musically - Nicola

Least Fave Musically - Kimberley

Nicola has an amazing album and of course slayed on The Masked Singer. She's probably joint 2nd with Sarah. I even like Kimberley most of the time

Along with most of y'all I preferred Sarah/Nadine to Cheryl/Kimberley/Nicola (the Rolaskatox of Girls Aloud xo) That interview they did about PCD was very telling, it was funny but Cheryl/Kimberley/Nicola mouthed off in the front about them (Cheryl in particular was very bitchy about Nicole and Melody, she's always had a problem with Nicole for some reason?) while Nadine and Sarah kept it classy in the back. I don't dislike any individual member of the group but personality wise Sarah and Nadine come off funnier and more interesting, although Sarah's CBB stint was a bit of a mess.

Ironically that interview shows the divide in the group as in a group of 2 and a group of 3 who are so differnet.

What interview is this? I've not heard of it?

Aah never seen that before. I kinda see why All Saints got to mouthy about them after seeing that interview there was a layer of cattiness to the whole thing! :o Don't get me wrong AS were OTT in the clap back but I never understood the reasoning before, I see it now.

This interview is so funny . You can just imagine Nadine and Sarah in the background thinking Cheryl needs to keep her big mouth closed.

What kind of interview is this anyway? Why would you interview a young girl band on their opinion about other girl bands. What a nasty set-up that Cheryl walked right into. (Kind of wished they had asked about the Sugababes too tho).

They used to ask questions like this all the time, Melanie C was asked in a German interview what she thought of other girl bands and she said that she loved Destiny's Child and No Angel (a German girlband I believe) and that there was a UK girlband the interviewer wouldn't have heard of called Girls Aloud who were really good too (bit of a backhanded compliment  )

Also not really a nasty set up, the girls could have said nice things it was their choice to say the other stuff too...

Ps totally wish they had asked about Sugababes too

Def a set up interview to cause a bit of controversy.

The press loved to set up female artists towards each other, and Cheryl run with it. See also her versus Lily in the Gordon Ramsey clip. It's a shame but I do think times have changed now. I don't think they would have said anything bad about Sugababes, as they always seemed to get along quite well.

  • Author
I think the press tried to create the girls aloud vs sugababes rivalry but it never kicked in thank god as the tabloiads always loved pitting females against each other.

That interview is a classic

It's funny, Cheryl really had no filter in those days! She just freely said whatever she was feeling and didn't seem to care too much about how that would come across (more evidence of this throughout the Off the Record documentary!). From my perspective, it was only when she became a judge on The X Factor that she became more media trained.

  • Author
She def became more media trained through the x factor as before that she hadnt a clue how to conduct herself in public,
