If we cast our minds back to Autumn 2008, in an age before streaming became prevalent and chart races were a thing. Download sales were steadily increasing and the pop landscape was dominated by female pop stars. The likes of Pink and Katy Perry had just enjoyed a month each at #1 and The X Factor of that year was dominated by female contestants. In the first week of November, five pop girls - four of them, major - released their lead singles simultaneously, allowing the media to dub the chart race "Diva Week". Let's revisit all of the contenders and vote/discuss the songs on offer.

I'm glad Bey, Britney and Alesha all managed to eventually peak higher than where they landed that week. I think TBDN deserved a top 3 peak but managing to bag a #5 hit was amazing enough for Alesha.

Womanizer was iconic. Britney is my fave of those artists too.

Christina for least fave but is still a 7/10 (FM is one of Leonas song I still quite like tbh)

I didn't buy any of the singles but I do own Sasha Fierce and Christina''s GH which has KGB on it.

Britney is my favourite overall artist out of those. 2.Christina 3.Beyoncé 4 Alesha 5 Leona.

 

This was such a exciting week and it was annoying we didn't manage to get them all top 10 at the time!

Best song: this is tough but I'm gonna go with Womanizer (Womanizer/IIWAB/TBDN are my favourite song by all 3 of these artists, Keeps Gettin' Better is an absolute bop & underrated af and in my top 5 Xtina songs. All four of those are 10/10's! <3 Forgive Me is also a bop but I never really listen to it anymore, ironically that might've been my fave for a short time in '08)

Best cover: The Boy Does Nothing (I love it *.* I thought Womanizer had a better cover than that haha, the others are all nice but nothing great)

This was such an amazing, exciting chart week! And I love how Alesha's turned out to be this big, when she was clearly the one with the least profile.
