Posted October 22, 20204 yr 7b3saBNcSls Just seen the trailer for this and it looks right up my street! Episode 1 aired last night and took a look at the year 2000: In this episode, they focus on the year it all started, 2000. Together, they share their memories of celebrating a new millennium – the fireworks, the Dome and the Y2K bug – and the biggest and best of the year’s films, music and television. It was the year that the Big Brother house opened its doors for the very first time, Kylie was Spinning Around in her iconic gold hotpants, Victoria Beckham went solo and Anne Robinson became TV’s most feared woman, keeping quiz contenders in their place on The Weakest Link.
October 22, 20204 yr Thanks for the recommendation - I just watched this! Predictably my favourite part of the show focused on Victoria Beckham
October 22, 20204 yr Me too Jay, I loved the whole segment about the chart battle! The nostalgia of seeing Woolworths *.*
October 22, 20204 yr  Those were the days! A large area dedicated to the Top 40 singles, new releases and a bargain bin of older releases
October 28, 20204 yr Author Thoroughly enjoyed the first edition! I think we all see the Noughties as being more recent than it actually is so it's interesting seeing things like chart battles being all over the news and the way questions were phrased in interviews and realising that society has moved on a lot. Synopsis of tonight's 2001 edition: Angela Scanlon is joined by media mastermind Amol Rajan and brilliant broadcaster Emma Barnett on a time and space odyssey back to 2001. Their journey takes in all their favourite film and music moments and covers all the big cultural talking points of the year. Harry Potter works his movie magic in cinemas for the very first time, the nation is gripped by a killer EastEnders storyline with the mystery over who shot Phil Mitchell, Louis Theroux has a famous encounter with the Hamiltons, and Slough becomes the centre of the comedy universe thanks to the antics of Office manager, friend and entertainer - the one and only David Brent. Excited to see them discuss Who Shot Phil?. Also hoping they'll talk about Kylie in the music section after they missed her out in last week's episode, despite mentioning her famous gold hot pants in the synopsis!
October 28, 20204 yr  Those were the days! A large area dedicated to the Top 40 singles, new releases and a bargain bin of older releases  Yes, Woolworths as well as WH Smith at one point. Those certainly were the days. Only saw the last bit of 2001, I'll have to catch it up.
October 29, 20204 yr Author Didn't enjoy last night's as much, the guests annoyed me. Kimberley Walsh is on next week's episode though as they look back over 2002!
November 7, 20204 yr Author Just caught up on the 2002 episode - Girls Aloud, Pop Idol, Britney, Christina... a great pop throwback!
November 19, 20204 yr I finally got round to catching up on the first 5 episodes the last few days. Loving the throwbacks!! I cried when Dev gave Smile a shoutout. Iconic.
November 23, 20204 yr Charlie and the Chocolate factory reboot was weird. 2005 I remember that year particularly well.
November 23, 20204 yr I love whoever the presenter of this is, so charasmatic  I need to watch the 2005 ep!
January 1, 20214 yr I loved this documentary and the last few weeks, sad it is done now. I was 13 - 22 in the Noughties, so I did a lot of growing up during this time. It's weird how long ago it feels. But yes, this had everything. Pop Culture, Movies, TV. The rise of Reality TV which I am still obsessed with. The creation of Girls Aloud which seems like ages ago. I loved every minute, but it was interesting to see the variance in Box Office results in the UK compared to North America. I worked at a Movie Theater between 2005 - 2008, so I remember working Pirates of the Caribbean (HATED the franchise), Cars, X-Men, Harry Potter. The worst movie I ever worked was 'Hitch' with Will Smith. It was packed. Every. Single. Showing. It was one of the Top 10 Highest Grossing Movies that year, so was shocked that I didn't see it on the documentary because I do not have fond memories lol. Again, sad it is done! It was my highlight of the week seeing what would come up. I did come across another similar Documentary. Celebrity A 21-Century Story. It's not done by year like this documentary. But the first episode had Pop Idol, Big Brother, The Beckhams, so again right up my alley.
January 1, 20214 yr Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is incredible and I’ve never got the hate :( Honestly one of my favorites. I worked at a Movie Theater during this time, I think it did reasonably well in North America... but it's honestly one of my favorite movies. I used to watch the DVD all the time.
