Earlier this year, both Kylie and Dua expressed an interest in working together after admitting they were big fans of each other’s music.

And on the topic of this: I think a lot of fans have very high expecations when remixes etc come about, expecting complete transformations / new versions when in reality the most we get are slight tweaks and additional backing vocals. It must also be extra hard to arrange things like this in the currently global climate. I haven't heard this yet, but am expecting to prefer the original which usually takes AGES for the artist to create and is their original vision of the song, whereas remixes tend to be quick-fire add-ons with not as much thought added.

The thing is Kylie and her team are great at responding to fans calls for things - when she premiered New York City in NY social media was ablaze with demands for her to release it so she did and it basically got ignored and dragged by the fanbase, the same is happening now with this tbh.

 

My expectations are never high for collabs anymore as I’ve learned over the years to just enjoy them for what they are rather than what they could have been, they tend to never live up to the social media hysteria (Sigala & Attitude Magazine I’m looking at you :kink:)

But they never said it's a new song etc. We didn't even know it was coming until a few days ago.

 

It's a treat for both fans who loved the performance on Dua concert and wanted it to stream. That all everyone has said. They all said loved the version, loved the video of them two together etc and now they release it no one wants it?

 

Has anyone thought they may work together on something new in future.

 

The song also promotes Real Groove. The song didn't even go top 150 on UK iTunes after a prime time TV appearance and it's sitting at 850 on UK itunes despite a few plays this week on national radio

 

They have to to release new versions and little changes to sell the downloads, to get people streaming. This will help. It was doing nothing, even with Xmas tunes out of chart it would have done nothing. Look how Magic did with a radio edit. It's all helpful.

 

I would expect another remix in next few weeks or an EP with maybe Magic and Say Something tagged on to boost streams for album again.

 

If you prefer the orginal then just stream that it's fine. It's just variations of the same song

People loved seeing them together and were hoping for a proper collab and this doesn't live up to that expectation unfortunately.

 

I don't even remember Dua singing at all during Kylie's Real Groove performance to be honest. She was dancing the whole time.

Up to number 4 in Australia and it's only 8.20am and nothing been mentioned anywhere yet about Studio 2054 remix.

I played the clip on my phone and heard her

Without headphones.

 

I usually play all my music with headphones anyway

 

With paid for sales very low Top 10 is manageable on iTunes in the UK.

Hopefully it can get there.

I'm a bit torn how I feel about this.

 

The remix does sound nice, and it's a fun little bonus at the end of the year. However, like most fans, I think I was just expecting more from a Kylie x Dua collab and I would have loved if Dua had her own verse and would be a bit more visible on the song. I do love the part where she says Kylie's name.

My ears (and many others) are perfectly fine. You being so blindly defensive is exhausting honestly. I can't speak for the Kylie fans but the reaction I have seen online and on Twitter from Dua fans is really negative.

 

Dua only having potato quality background vocals in the chorus is definitely not what anybody wanted or expected.

Yea, the difference between the Levitating remixes (DaBaby one and the one that's basically Madonna duet feat. Missy) and this is gigantic. But it's all right, a good track.

i am very critical when i want to be. But this is a Kylie Minogue song with a little addition from Dua Lipa because she sang it at Dua's livestream. It is not a huge collab, huge release, it is a little bonus to get a few more streams for a Kylie track as well as release because Kylie and Dua fans ASKED for it!!! everyone loved the collab on the livestream a few weeks ago, Dua only sang the chorus then too.....

 

if you cant hear Dua all the way through this song then i am not sure what device you are listening on. the voices blend nicely and little ad libs of Kylie "Dua got the Real Groove" "Kylie!" "Studio 2054" all nice additions.
