I bow down at the return of Keeble, always a pleasure.

Hopefully we’ll see Marsden down the line too.

EDIT: I’ve just read that that was an exit for Ash. I guess her stories are pretty much tied up but honestly? Why get rid of two LGBT ethnic minority characters in the same week?

The Panesars are going to run a bit thin on the ground eventually. Vinny doesn't strike me as a character that's got much life left in him either. Maybe they should bring in Suki's husband (depending on whatever his prison sentence is for), which I imagine would be their intention as he's often mentioned.

Hallelujah if true. I’ve not been able to stomach Mick for over 5 years now and the way they bring other characters down just to prop him up.

The Vic is also in dire need of change, pardon the almost pun.

Eep. Oh well, he's never been a favourite of mine. We definitely need some new/different blood in charge of The Vic
Not EE getting rid of every asian character...

And another crapola low-key exit as well.

Is there a new family on the horizon with all these?

Danny quiting should open the door to a new family joining the show.

The new executive producer will want to create characters of their own.

There are times I have enjoyed Mick and times I haven't but I would have him in the show anyday ahead of Alfie Moon.

It’s confirmed and I really think it’s the best thing for the show and probably remaining Carters. Dyer joined when the show needed a refresh and for the first year or so, it was a breath of fresh air. But Mick had been irritating for a long time and all other members of the family have been sidelined so that they can throw every story imaginable at him.

Ideally it wouldn’t mean anything for Kellie Bright. I believe Linda can work without Mick, as can the other Carters. But then I’ve never bought into the ‘Mick and Linda should never ever split up’ nonsense. Both constantly keeping secrets from one another, it would never have lasted this long in real life.

But I do worry because it’s often the way these days. Ronnie and Roxy were axed together despite the fact Roxy could have thrived on her own. Abi and Lauren got marching orders at the same time. I’m sure there’s other examples but in older times duos could survive when one left. Phil worked without Grant, Pauline without Arthur, Dot without Ethel, Sharon without Michelle.

Hopefully Linda will stick around.

I agree that the Carters were a huge breath of fresh air when they first entered the show and I really enjoyed them for the first year or two. I feel like too much was piled on them in too short a space of time though and there would be times when Mick and Linda in particular seemed to have about fifty different dramas going on at the same time, in fact this was to the detriment of Lee, Nancy and Tina who despite having some stories of their own could feel like bit players to Mick and Linda a lot of the time. The final nail in their coffin though was undoubtedly Linda's affair with Max, the whole "golden rule" that they never cheat on each other and have been rock solid since they were teenagers was broken for some utterly needless baby secret storyline that made even less sense when Max was already on his way out. The excuse was that because of Mick's own problems he was been very cold towards Linda and she sought comfort elsewhere but that just doesn't wash when we've already seen that before and it didn't result in an affair.

I do think Linda can work as a character without Mick but realistically I don't buy that he would ever completely walk away from her or the rest of his family, unless they plan to kill him off.

I can kinda see the whole family leaving the show in the next 18 months or so bar possibly Shirley as she was around for years before the “Carters family” become a thing.

The show does need an entire new family though so I’d welcome a strong new family coming into the show and potentially a seperate new couple who become new Vic owners.

I do hope the Panesar family stay though, there’s potential for all of them hopefully Ash’s exit is temporary and she comes back eventually but I’d be sad if we lost any more members of the family.
