I’m definitely up for it. The character’s biggest and best storyline was with her portrayal and this is the only way I think you can bring the character back properly.

Definitely my preferred actress in the role (if you have Twitter though you’ll see that you know who hasn’t taken it the best).

I think this return will hopefully push the character forward as it seemed like the character regressed slightly during the last stint on the show with the recast back to the OG actress. I do think this is a return what’s welcome though and definitely has potential they’ve definitely made the right call for me with the actress of choice though she was definitely better at the grittier stories.

Yesss Kim was the best Sam!

Would be great if they could get Zoe back as well but extremely unlikely Michelle Ryan ever would.

Maybe they can finally do something with

Ricky

too. Sometimes they don't particularly do very well with the child actors and he's a prime example of needing some kind of direction/story.

Totally agree about Kim far far superior to Daniella. I do think they have a chance of changing Phil Mitchell character if he turns informant, scary Phil just doesn't work anymore, that arc is worn thin now so they need to take him in a new direction. With Sam coming back id say they will be trying to build up the Mitchells again so we could see further family members been added.

I think the show does need a brand new family aswell and a fairly big family too, Slater size for example when they arrived, and along with that they need to build up some of the existing families and extend the familys as the show badly needs new characters. Its crazy to think there how very little couples are now left on the show, they need more couples to build up inevitable affair storylines, Denise and Jack, Honey and Jay for example aren't exactly power house couples, you would even forget they are couples and i also think they really need to build up older characters, i always enjoyed the older couples interacting on the show like Jim, Patrick, Dot etc.

I know Suki seems fairly popular with some fans but id be happy for the Panesar family to just go, i just find we are meant to believe there are this really power family but its always a damp squid result for me with anything they have been involved in. I would like to see Ricky back aswell and with Janine already back, and Sam on the way there is probably no better time for him to make a return, and there is something about Ricky that is very Eastenders.

The new executive producer does have a hard job ahead to really turn the show around but equally can make loads of small changes that can have an impact.

The Panesars are fine IMO. Jags was the weak link and he’s gone but I do wished they’d utilise/d Vinny and Ash more. Kheerat and Suki are definitely working and used pretty effectively. I’m not sure why anyone would want a big new Slater sized family if they don’t like the Panesars as I’m not sure each character would get a look in. Just like the Taylors and, if we’re honest with ourselves, the Carters.

Ricky’s only development was to give Jack another kid to make him look like the perfect father when they were making Roxy look like an appalling mother. It will be interesting to see where they take Sam with this as I feel the custody battle story is currently being exhausted with Janine and yet unlike Janine we actually saw Sam decide to abandon her child.

I think recasting Sam back to Daniella was a huge misstep. People often talk about the two Sams being like different characters but Kim’s Sam (the one I have the earliest memories of) was very believable as a successor to Sam from the 90s and the character was developed greatly between 2002 and 2005. I know they wanted the Ricky and Bianca dynamic in 2009 but going back to Danniella removed all of Sam’s development and that was when the character started feeling completely different. I barely recognised the character at all in 2016.

I had noticed the For Sale and Sold signs for the flats right next door to The Vic. I'd imagine a new family is going in there?

I'm pleased to have Kim's version of Sam back - she was around in the show when I first started watching and always felt like 'my Sam' over Daniella's version of the character. The Daniella returns were poor, if they really wanted Sam back, it should have been Kim on those occasions as well.

It will be interesting to see where they take Sam's character. I definitely think there's scope for her to fill the Ronnie shaped hole in the Mitchell family (well, pre-misery Ronnie) with Kim back in the role. Maybe we could even see the Mitchells back in the Vic with Danny Dyer leaving? Phil, Kat and Sam would be quite an interesting dynamic. Especially with the history that Kat and Sam have from Kim's era.

Kim’s sam was similar to Ronnie Mitchell where as Danniella’s was sort of like a more trashy version of Roxy but they were essentially like two totally different characters with histories with different characters etc it felt strange to have Danniella cast back but I think if the plan was to have Sam involved in harder hitting stories it was right to go with Kim. Is this a soap first i dont think ive ever known a character to go from recast to back to original to back to the recast before

Speaking of Kat I wonder if Zoe will ever return (obviously with a new head) but I’d love to see some of the slaters come back into the show and I think a return for Zoe would work and with Sam returning there’s another character there who she has history with there’s been other characters come back with new heads (like Martin) who turned out to be big successes too so I do think it could work.

Zoe should have been recast ages ago. If a character is still out there but the actor won’t return, I’d say a recast should be up for grabs. I still think they should have stuck to their guns over the Michelle recast.
The Slaters could do with expanding and a Zoe recast would work for the show, showing her reconciling with Kat after the shocking decision for Zoe to just disown her offscreen in 2015. I know it introduced the Redwater story but I don't think it was necessary to ruin their relationship. A Little Mo return would be fab too, especially with Billy still on the Square.
Not Kathy basically coming out and saying that Mila and Kioni aren’t important enough for a party.
Stacey’s Baps sent me

Are they pushing a reunion back with her and Martin do we think?

I hope not as their coupling never fully worked for me, i think Stacey needs to be a bad boy type character which was part of why her and Max worked but its more than likely they will pull them back to together, i haven't the foggiest what the plans are for Eve, i wonder what direction they will go with her as i really dont see the point of her just yet.

RIP to Leonard Fenton, who played Dr. Legg, he and June Brown had many great scenes together.

I think Donna has been a great addition to the show, she needs to get away from Bobby.. But I could see her character going in a lot of different directions. Aaron and Harvey are meh, but Donna has the most potential.
