What on Earth are they doing to Ruby?

As for the Carters, they were only good in the Vic for a year or two tops. This undermines the reason they left which was to help Linda with her recovery. Now they’re going back just to cheer Mick up? It highlights actually how toxic their relationship is. Mick is always more important than Linda and Linda’s problems are only tackled once they’ve become an issue for Mick. I was beginning to come round to them as a couple again last month but this just undoes most of that.

Sharon on her own doesn’t work either and I’m hoping this is the end of her and Phil. Just give her a new love interest with some kids and that could make it better. But I don’t know if they can afford new characters hence no new family in the Vic. At the very least, Sharon could hire Mick and Kat as bar staff to help liven the place up.

I feel like I must of either blinked and missed it or I just can’t remember when and how Kat and Kush broke up ? Now Kat and Phil have a thing and Kush and Whitney have a thing how they move on fast . <_<

She dumped him after he tried to do a runner with Arthur

Kat went off about not being able to trust Kush after he came back from running away.

The thing that I don’t get is what happened to Kush’s gambling addiction?

I hear the criticism for the Carters returning to the Vic and lord knows I was so over them being in there by the end, but I do think they're the best choice out of the current cast to be there. I certainty would not trust the current producers to create a new family for the Vic. The Carters, despite the many issues with their recent storyline, are in the best position they've been in for years and I think they'll give the Vic what it needs, especially with Nancy coming back and Lee probably not far behind. They've definitely proved that they don't need the Vic, it's more of a case that the Vic needs them.

Regarding Linda's alcoholism, at least they have acknowledged this issue on screen and I dare say they'll explore it properly when they get it back. Still, if Phil was in there for years and Sharon could deal with being there despite her father being murdered and buried there...

I'd have loved Sharon to have worked as landlady again but the writing has been atrocious. We've barely seen her work there, there's no staff, the atmosphere is dead and she certainly doesn't deserve the Vic after the hatchet job to her character.

Another "look at this issue!!" 5 minute storyline that the show had no intention in exploring. Kush will be killed off by Gray anyway.

Ooh I wonder. Especially if he finds out about him and Whitney..

A baby wasn’t the right thing for Ruby anyway but what are they doing with her? If they keep making her do this bizarre stuff, it’ll be harder for her character to recover.
I kind of liked Stacey and Kheerat together . I sensed a bit of a spark there when they had there one night stand but it probably won’t be too long until Stacey is eventually back with Martin.
Liam K I do agree with your post about the Carters, right now they are the best for The Vic from the current cast and I'd like them to explore more of Linda's family although the people running show would not be the best at all introducing and building new characters.
I forgot about Stacey and Kheerat. It’s seems the show has too. They were pretty good together but I guess they’re stuck until Lacey’s back full time.

I wonder if that was supposed to be started during the summer when they were off air and they just kind of rushed it when they came back to get it done.

Yeah but you can’t cure a gambling addiction outright, it lives with you forever. We haven’t see Kush taking any steps whatsoever to stop gambling. He couldn’t stop when everyone needed him to and now it doesn’t affect the storyline, he doesn’t do it at all.

Denise’s GCSE needs to return tbh.

And her pasta.

Some of the recent episodes by simon ashdown have been really enjoyable I have to say, I wish they had more writers like him on board.
Who Shot Phil? started 20 years ago today :o

Remember how they pushed the football back because it would clash with the 'Who Shot Phil?' reveal? Nowadays, EastEnders is pushed from pillar to post for seemingly no good reason.

I remember it all so vividly. Such a great time for EE-Phil getting shot, Mel/Steve wedding, Kat Slater and Anthony Trueman, Dot and Jim. So many iconic characters at once.
