How are Ian's family not frantic that he has vanished.

The way they pick up and drop storylines since its return has baffled me. It leads me to forget what's happened as they leave it way too long to continue them

I've not watched this week's episodes yet so I can't comment on that, but the Beale family do know that Ian is alive because he sent his solicitor to sign the pub over to Sharon whilst Kathy was present. I guess they would still be concerned he's gone but not to the extent they would have been if they didn't know he was alive or not.
So I guess Stacey will be off for some jail time for a change to cover Lacey’s maternity leave. The Peter and Ash stuff is absolutely awful.
Speaking of dropping storylines, what happened to Jean's cancer scare? She ran from the hospital weeks ago and literally nothing has been mentioned since unless I'm mistaken?
I think the Jean storyline is continuing as Jean constantly mentions lines such as you have your life ahead of you or life is too short. I believe these are to make us see that Jean thinks she is dying.
Yeah Jean has been mentioning it in a Biden kind of way in her scenes but I wish we’d know if she’s ill for certain. ‘Guess if she’s dying’ is a bit off.

I have issues with the stories and characterisation, but in terms of writing and acting, the show has kinda been enjoyable as of late.

I don't agree with the direction they've gone with Ruby and I don't think this is worth trashing her friendship with Stacey, but Lousia is doing a really great job. I actually feel sympathy for Ruby despite the manipulation, like I can see the desperation and pain. I'm also liking the human touches like Kush remembering Zaair, you know, things that aren't necessary to the plot but are routed in character.

I think it's ridiculous that Lucas is even back on the square nevermind people just accepting it (or even being totally unaware of his past i.e. Karen) and I don't understand the point to the story, but Zaraah has been fantastic in the role of Chelsea and has given a very layered performance; Don is so charismatic as Lucas; and it's obviously great to see Diane Parish given something to do.

Is it common for CCTV systems to have microphones attached to them nowadays? Even if Stacey does get sent to prison based on that footage, she did steal thousands of pounds from Ruby's bank account and unless I missed something, I don't think she paid any of that money back. It seems to have been forgotten about.

She also got a very reduced sentence for murder and got a way with assaulting someone two years ago. It’s karma really.

I imagine when Louisa Lytton gets pregnant, Ruby may face a similar karma of her own.

I just wish soaps didnt have to write out characters when on maternity leave as usually their absence or exits are daft, like staceys last exit was all over the place and then she just returned with no fear of the Mitchells at all. I have said it before i just wish they would get Lacey for example to film 10 or 15 random scenes in the vic or in the iamspamspamamiwith the kids and slot it into episodes and not bother with the short end departures.
I know what you mean, storylines accommodating for maternity leave are often very messy, but I suppose there's no guarantee of when Lacey returns or even if she comes back at all!
They could literally just say she’s playing with the kids upstairs or have characters reference talking to her the other day. There are plenty of characters floating around onscreen with no storyline, viewers wouldn’t question someone out of a story being offscreen.
Watching Eastenders 2008 and we’re up to Janine’s wedding *.*
I couldn’t quite keep up with Karen, but was that confirmation Keanu and Bernadette have the same dad?

It was a bit of a mind fuck but she said "[child] two and four - dad's two and three", so they have different dads. It would have been so much easier if she just said the names of her children.

Def could do this, I just think from a flow point of view it would be better and I always feel maternity exits dont make sense or they are totally out of character.

Congratulations to Louisa Lytton who has announced she’s pregnant with her first child!

Congrats to her! Ruby off to prison then!

The show focusing more on Bronson’s death than Chantelle’s really says it all about what it’s become tbh
