I can get my head around Stuart accidentally killing Calum's boss, although another death cover-up is really not what we need and there was already a decent story to be told with Stuart and Rainie without this sensationalism, but to play it as a comedy plot as well? This show really hasn't a clue. I really hope this doesn't put a shelf life on these characters.

Clunky reference to Lucas tonight; Denise was never that into religion before Lucas, it's why they had issues at the beginning of them getting back together. Not that I should expect this writing team to remember that. It was nice seeing the Trueman/Foxes back as a family, but it's hard to feel anything for them knowing where the show is going to take them. What could be a really touching story over Christmas regarding Denise doing her best to make Raymond feel at home is going to be spoiled by Lucas returning on Christmas Day and probably kidnapping Raymond.

At the minute most episodes feel like they've picked a storyline out of a hat and have like 10 minutes to formulate it before submitting the episode, so they just roll with ANYTHING to get it done, absolute state.

The Stuart and Rainie scene with the flashbacks and confessions was one of the ODDEST I've seen...! I'm somewhat interested in where it's going though I'm not sure that's because it's a good storyline...

I'm finding it really difficult to care about much in this show right now. Kim, Denise and Patrick were by far the highlight of tonight's episode. The rest of the past few weeks in particular has been absolutely ridiculous. Sharon marrying Ian MUST have a bigger pay-off coming? I can't stand Tina, and the Mick / Katy storyline is really not working for me, for weeks it's been coming across more like old friends than anything else.

I don't think the 20 minute run-time is helping, either? There's more action to cram into a shorter space of time, meaning the actual character-building moments seem to have gone out the window. I'm sure covid has impacted the production but, particularly now they've been back filming for months, they should be able to up the runtime again? Emmerdale and Corrie are operating on full capacity and that's with more weekly episodes...

Ok I’m not really on board with Stuart being made a killer after all his development anyway but to make it a comedy plot with him and Rainie getting off on it is really straining things. They’re my favourite thing about the show at the moment but this has really tainted them and they won’t get away with it so I’m worried that’s it for them. And Thompson being dead also means they never really had any plans for an old police adversary of Phil’s to return so that was needlessly pointless speculation.

What on earth is going on with this show?

The show is all over the place and everything seems rushed and plucked out of thin air.really expected the show to be in much better shape at this point after all change at the top. I do think Kat and phil are also gona get together at some point. I'm tired of even overload aswell.

A member on Walford Web managed to get in contact with former executive producer Sean O'Connor through his agency and got some info on what his plans were had he stayed on:

We wanted to do a big courtroom drama about an historical rape case. WB was never charged for Kathy's rape. We planned for WB to return and for Kathy and Linda (also raped but the assailant not convicted) to kill WB on Xmas Day after he tried to assault Linda in the closed cafe. Kathy kills him to protect Linda. His body was dumped in the canal and resurfaced at Easter. Kathy was charged with murder but her defense was her rape in the 1980s that destroyed her marriage to Pete. So the whole story ran deep in the DNA of the show.

Everything about this sounds awful. SOC also said that Jay was going to be revealed as Phil's son. One interesting thing he did reveal was that the show's problems indeed go deep than the who is executive producer: SOC said he left due to "internal politics at the BBC. You spend more time negotiating with various departments and individuals... rather than making the show".

How is it possible for all that to sound WORSE than what is happening right now?

I feel we need to take over the show as a forum. We’ll find a way to resurrect Abi.

I still cannot believe he axed AND killed off both Ronnie & Roxy, then Steven and then John Yorke only months later decided to kill off Abi. All in the space of 12 months.

All short-sighted deaths done purely for 'shock value' which have damaged the show long term.

The fact that Ronnie and Roxy were killed off amongst bin problems and school bully storylines is one of the most offensive things EE ever did.
Rosy and Ronnie being axed was a huge mistake and it’s cost them dearly
When Kate Oates was joining the team i honestly expected the show to be much much better at this point but its much the same, there has been some good stuff but there is no consistency and no big storyline that would get you over excited. I think Drunk Linda is the highlight of the show for a long time.
What ever happened to Gaynor who worked in the salon as an extra for 100 years?
She worked in the old salon and I can’t remember what happened to that?

I think it shut down after that middle class woman who bought it off Tanya left (the one whose husband Lauren had an affair). And then eventually Sharon got Phil to buy the building for her to open a bar there.
