Why couldn't the older demographics just use the existing streaming services?

 

For whatever reason Spotify doesn’t really cater for an older demographic in its playlists, which make up a large portion of its appeal. If you look at 2 of the biggest selling albums from the past couple of weeks, you won’t find Bruce Springsteen or Kylie’s music on any major playlists. I use Spotify extensively, but I never venture into their curated playlists, so I’m not really getting full value from it.

No but the albums are still there? If you are able to type "Kylie" on Spotify search field, you'll reach Disco with two clicks.

 

You’re missing the point, not everybody wants to listen to an entire Kylie album, they want to listen to a playlist which caters to their tastes, something which Spotify struggles to do for the older generation. I can see why the prospect of that is very appealing for somebody like Kylie, basically have radio 2 equivalent in a very popular playlist.

For a chart based forum it’s odd that some people are struggling to understand the benefit of being playlisted on a hugely popular playlist :lol:

Ok but why does Ariana album gets millions of listens? People are INTERESTED on Ariana album. Her album tracks are not on any playlists. Folklore got huge streaming numbers released out of the blue. People are able to find the album if they are interested...

I would greatly welcome that sales outcome when the album chart is revealed on Friday

They can but playlists and the set up is aimed at younger people and artists.

 

Imagine a New Music Friday playlist with Sheryl Crow, Kylie and so on top 10 not Drake and Co.

What? She has 3 songs in the most key playlists, Hot Hits and Today's Top Hits Lol actually never seen anything like that, the crazy support she's getting on Spotify playlist for the album not only the single. Her real streams would be only a fraction of what they are if Ariuana didn't get crazy playlist support for her album tracks. Her crazy support is unmprercedented.

 

But I agree on people being able to find albums by searching, but you're off saying Ariana doesn't get playlist support. It's 10000% the opposite

Personally think they are faveourites to win the battle, was expecting Kylie to be further ahead at this stage.

 

What is going under the radar is 'sweet melody' going top 5, pop justice for sure!

Love both! I think I would pefer Kylie winning as it would be amazing over 30 years into her career.
