I'm not one to agree with Geri but the best 'unreleased' song I've heard or heard parts of is 'we're gonna make it happen' every time I hear it it gets stuck in my head.

Ok, I’m a bit of an insomniac, so I went down the rabbit hole. These are the only discrepancies that I noticed. I hope this helps some. I’ll try to find the appropriate links from Spice News or other

I never found credits for All We Need, so that is definitely interesting to see. It’s been a good 15 years since I searched publishing for the Touch era writers. I kinda lost interest and was more int

I think what I love the most of this and Feed Your Love is that they show how risky they could be as a group. Both songs were deemed too 'explicit' for their fanbase which is why they were not included at all in the original releases, not even as a bside.

But both show a level of experimentation that was very little seen in girl groups at the time, both sonically and lyrically. A girlband singing about sex and blow jobs, and about calling a guy a c**t? Unprecedented, for sure. They did manage to get away with some sexual innuendo of course, specially in 2 Become 1, Last Time Lover and Naked, but beyond that, not much cos they had their young fanbase to entertain, I guess...

Sonically, both songs really take unprecedented paths to a nice blend between British trip-hop (think Elastica, Blur) and R&B (Janet Jackson) that is quite interesting in my opinion, and could have been really revolutionary in ways that could have expanded the message of acceptance and inclusivity quite nicely!

Really, really glad we got this. At the moment, it is one of my favourite demos from the 90s we've heard so far. It would go:

1. Right Back At Ya (pop)

2. Feed Your Love

3. C U Next Tuesday

4. A Day In Your Life

5. Pain Proof

A lot of the others out there are quite bad imo. I never liked Strong Enough (shit lyrics, jesus christ...) or Give You What You Want (too similar to any of the singles from 5ive).

Now we need to hear WOMAN, Serial Killer and Overnight! Those are the next Spice Holy Grails :P

Does anyone actually have the latter?

^ As other people have mentioned TLC were very cheeky with their lyrics! These songs were totally inspired by them.

Aint To Proud To Beg

Get It Up

Creep

Red Light Special

These are quality songs where the title explains the content!

It took a while to be picked up on but there's now articles about the song having leaked.

Daily Mail: "Spice Girls 'are left red-faced as 30-year-old song with VERY X-rated title is leaked online'"

The Mirror: "Spice Girls horrified as unreleased song with X-rated title emerges on internet"

The Sun: "Spice Girls mortified by re-emergence of X-rated demo of song with filthy title..."

Hmm to think they *might* have avoided such sensationalist headlines if they'd just included the demo on Spice 25 under the title of Likely Stories. Now if anyone's interested in hearing the song after this story they'll just hear it on an unofficial YouTube upload instead of giving them official streams.

These girls

Gerita was right to ban this song, as it both stops them from having anti-feminist sentiments but at the same time they get headlines in the press.

Cunning Queen. Only Diana could plan this better.

The British press continues to be stuck in a gutter of lies and recycled quotes to make up fake articles... I truly detest the british tabloid press, f*** them all.

Of course Spice25 would have had a bit more publicity if C U Next Tuesday was released in it, and it would have probably been received in a much better light than this, in the context of that release.

Lol. These tabloid headlines really are something, aren't they? Are the girls honestly horrified, mortified, and red faced by this song? The tabloids aren't even reporting the correct title...

Ultimately, I'm a little lost on why there's so much pearl-clutching with this track. Yes, I'm fully aware that they're referencing a naughty word. But. I don't know. Not only are they not actually saying it, they're not even totally spelling it out? Is this really that upsetting? Yes, there were kids who bought their records, but the Spice Girls always had a bit of edge. To me, this song's not out of step with the group we see in the Say You'll Be There and Who Do You Think Are videos. But what do I know?

I'm late to the party on this, but I'm finally getting a listen...and by and large, I do like the song. Personally, I prefer Feed Your Love...and I don't think Likely Stories is deserving of album placement or anything. It does get off on the wrong foot with Victoria's vocals being a bad fit for those opening lines. It needs someone bolder like Mel B. BUT. All that said, it's catchy. I like Geri's little additions here and there. Quirky. Fun. Would have made for a good b-side at some point. For me, this certainly beats Spice Invaders or just skipping a fresh b-side like Stop and Viva Forever did. Was the naughty line the only thing preventing it from inclusion somewhere? If so, was it just impossible for them to figure out another line to put there? The world of music's filled with songs that started with far edgier lyrics than the ones we know now...just ask Chic's Le Freak and Little Richard's Tutti Fruitti....

Biff confirmed that the leaked song is called Likely Stories:

For those who missed it:

Mel B is on the lead in the clip.

Is she? I mostly hear Victoria.

It’s full on Victoria. I don’t hear Mel B at all.

I hear Victoria and Emma.

One thing i dont understand or believe is that this comes from a vinyl? that´s such a weird thing to leak from idk

  • Author

Oh maybe it is Victoria!! For some reason it gave me Mel B vibes at first...

This is a vocal stem though right?

Very interesting that Biff songs are now leaking. You would think Biff would have these songs under lock and key. Especially after what happened to Elliot Kennedy.
Seems it's only chorus vocal stems with some background vocals. Better than nothing but a bit bizarre, particularly that they're randomly on vinyl?!
