Today won't drop off as much either as large swathes of the country are locked down and supermarkets shut.

In my country the drop was drastic though, From 140k to 40k in a day (here Xmas eve is the biggest streaming day).

last year Wham went from 1.6 million on Xmas to 250k the next day, same for Mariah

would be amazing if Wham could somehow make their way to the official #1 this week, it seems unlikely but those numbers are so insane that they'll at least be top 5 alongside Mariah even with them dropping off a cliff from today.

Wham won't last long. It is the worst seasonal song (about Easter) ever made. People will get bored of it.

I’m no mathematician so this may be off, but I think if Wham and Mariah had a similar percentage decrease compared to last year they should both be on around 400k tomorrow which should keep them at #1 and #2, and even then it’ll be Saturday streams which will likely help them too

Not that it'll make any difference but I was watching a Britain's Favourite 80's song show last night and 'Last Christmas' came in at #1 in the poll so it could have some effect but it might also not as I don't think it was on the main BBC or Itv channels. There was a George Michael documentary on later too.

 

Those Spotify numbers are incredible though. Top 23 over 1 million *.*

They've been recently reporting sales even higher than Spotify

so who knows? they may have reported 2 million streams for Jess and the advantage is that she's not on ACR so her streams are not halved

Agreed - and if Jess follows the same pattern of Ellie last year she might hold up slightly better than the other Christmas songs from today.

This could be turning into a battle of the Christmas songs instead of the anticipated battle of the non Christmas songs.
