Highly regret not giving Giving You Up the 10 it deserves.

'Body Language' having all three singles in the Top 40 despite not being an album that's not held in the greatest regard by a lot of fans does show that it did have the best choices for singles. Would have been topped off by 'Secret (Take Me Home)' being released fourth but I appreciate the label were keen to get the greatest hits out.

No major surprises for what's placed in the first half of the countdown, although I would have expected 'Shocked' to be Top 40 and I'm rather pleased that '2 Hearts' managed to achieve an average as high as 7!

The GAG!, the GOOPERY in at the #39 spot is Your Disco Needs You, released in January 2001 as the 5th & final single from her 7th studio album Light Years.
The song was written by Kylie herself alongside Guy Chambers & Robbie Williams & lyrically talks about the power of Disco music. Despite being a hugely popular album track it wasn't given a single release in the UK as it was deemed too camp & gay by the label, which caused controversy amongst fans there, sparking protests outside her UK record company lobbying for this to happen. Upon release the song was critically acclaimed & did get a limited release in Australia where it peaked at #20, as well as getting a release in a few other countries where it managed top 40 peaks in Germany, Switzerland & Poland. In the UK it did manage to make a minor dent on the charts due to strong import sales at a #152 peak. Honestly thought this would have done a whole lot better on here & actually quite saddened that this could only manage to scrape the top 40, but at least its got a pretty decent average. There's always been an element of camp in Kylie's work, but never has she embraced quite as heartily as this fabulous number & of course loving every minute of it. Her charisma, commanding vocals & absolute conviction makes it a soaring success. Despite its criminally limited release this has thankfully managed to survive the sands of time, thanks to it being a firm staple of her live performances & why shouldn't it, this is just an incredible piece of music.

At #38 is What Kind of Fool (Heard All That Before), released in August 1992 as the lead single from her first compilation album Greatest Hits & would be Kylie's last original single to be released from the PWL label, as the follow-up was a cover. Upon released the song gained mixed reviews & became a moderate success by reaching a #14 peak on the UK singles chart as well as also reaching a top 20 peak in Australia. Elsewhere the song wasn't quite as successful by hitting top 40 peaks in Ireland & Belgium as well as scraping the lower end of the German charts.
Kylie herself has stated in later years that she's not fond of this song & only samples of it have ever featured in some her concert tours. The song is a very decent effort with catchy hooks & a pleasant melody to it that does show some maturity for her at the time, but did kinda feel like a step backwards & leaving the PWL label was a smart move, as Kylie clearly was running out of steam by this point & needed a new direction, which would be waiting for her around the next corner.

At #37 & round off this trilogy is Music's Too Sad Without You, released in October 2018 as the 5th & final official single from her 14th studio album Golden & features English singer Jack Savoretti. The song was written by both artists & producer Samuel Dixon & has been described as a Country-tinged ballad. Originally both artists were gonna record a cover of Boney M's 'Rivers of Babylon' as their duet, until they came up with something original. Although it would have been interesting to hear their take on said cover, but thankfully they came up with this gorgeous duet with Jack's gravel voice against Kylie’s sad yet amazing vocal are a perfect combination. set against some stunning production which really captures the heart & emotion of the song. A perfect closer to the standard edition of the album.

Succumb to this illusion, so strong, so deep

I spent all this time thinking the lyric was "succumb to this elation, so strong, so deep".

Anyway, I've REALLY been loving 'What Kind of Fool' more than before over the past year or two.

She does sing "so get to this elation" earlier in the verse. I did have to check that though because I definitely hear "elation" in the song and didn't quite remember the "illusion" lyric.

What a fall from grace for 'Your Disco Needs You' - 9th in 2018 to 39th. I don't get why Kylie fans have turned on it. :(

3 great songs there and MTSWY doing better than I thought it would, I'm very surprised how low your disco needs you is.

Pleasantly surprised at how highly the Body Language singles have ranked! There is justice for BL after all ^_^

Also pleasantly surprised at Music's Too Sad making the Top 40. One of my fave Kylie ballads ever.

I love What Kind of Fool (Heard All That Before), always have, I know fans think it was a step down musically but for me it’s a highlight.
Did It Again underrated here !!!

It was a step back musically but I still really like it.

2 of her absolute best gone out there - What Kind Of Fool is just sublime pop, she sounds amazing, it's stood the test of time really well and was the perfection summary of the simple, PWL sound of her first few years (fitting of course for a GH single...). Your Disco Needs You is just sheer perfection. It's even better live, I remember the first time I saw her in 2008 and she sang that it was just such an insane reaction. Low top 40 is ridiculous for such a definitive song.

In my mind a celebration, the sweetest of sensation

36. I Should Be So Lucky | 7.54 Highest Scores: 10: (Nina West,, ___∆__, ready for it, Feel the Fever, elf, Qween), Lowest Scores: 4: (vibe)
35. Please Stay | 7.56 Highest Scores: 11: (Spiceboy), Lowest Scores: 4/4.5: (vibe, dandy)
34. Wow | 7.68 Highest Scores: 10: (Liam.k, elf), Lowest Scores: 3: (Spiceboy, blacksquare)

Another BIG SHOCK in at #36 is the one that really started it all I Should Be So Lucky, released in December 1987 as the first worldwide single from her debut album Kylie. After the huge success of "Locomotion" in Australia, Kylie travelled to London to work with Stock Aitken & Waterman to further pursue her recording career. Legend has it that they wrote this track in 40 minutes, while she waited outside the recording studio, after they'd forgotten she was arriving & the rest is history. The song would become a worldwide breakthrough smash hit by topping the charts in several countries including UK, Australia, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Israel, Finland & Switzerland, as well as hitting top 10 peaks in several other countries that would set the course for a long & successful singing career that would continue to this very day. Everything we know & love about Kylie can traced back to this one little pop song that immediately positioned her as a force to be reckoned with. The song itself is a stellar classic with fantastic innocent yet forceful vocals that really captures the message of the lyrics beautifully.
For many years it was ignored and ridiculed but the song has had the last laugh & like it or not this will remains one of Kylie's signature tunes & the one the most people best identify her with. As it stands this is just pure 80's pop perfection.

At #35 is the highest ranking song to not score any 10's (but did manage a single 11 score) Please Stay, released in December 2000 as the 4th single from her 7th studio album Light Years. The song itself is a disco song with strong Latin influences which would be a first for Kylie & upon release the song received generally positive reviews, but the fact that it was chosen as a single caused some controversy amongst fans as many felt that this was a weak choice & wanted 'Your Disco Needs You' or one of the album's strongest moments released instead. Despite this the song became a success upon release by peaking at #10 on the UK singles chart, becoming the album's 4th top 10 hit there & rounding off a successful comeback year for her there. Elsewhere it wasn't quite as successful as the album's other singles with a top 20 peak in Australia, top 40 in Ireland & lower peaks in Sweden & Netherlands. Personally I wouldn't have picked this as a single myself, but once I saw the fabulous music video, I instantly fell in love with it & felt yeah this was a pretty decent choice. A shimmering pop number with beautiful yet romantic Latin tones that adds a touch of class to this number alongside Kylie's light & soothing vocals that makes this an all-round great track.

At #34 is Wow, released in February 2008 as the 2nd single from her 10th studio album X. Originally the song was considered as the lead single alongside 'Like A Drug', before '2 Hearts' got chosen, then Kylie wanted this to be the American lead, but was again withdrawn in favour of 'All I See; in an attempt to appeal for a more Urban market. Upon release the song received positive reviews & became a smash hit on the UK singles chart where it reached a #5 peak & became her biggest selling hit in several years there. Elsewhere it was also a success with a top 10 peak in Ireland & top 20 peaks in Australia, France, Netherlands, Hungary & Slovakia. From a commercial standpoint this was probably the best choice Kylie could have gone with after the mixed reception to the lead & personally I just love it. Right from the fast keys the open this song to the rush of synths prior to the opening of the first verse this track is just glorious pop perfection with fantastic energy & fun catchy melodies that sparkles alongside its memorable killer hooks with one hell of a earworm effect.

Please Stay should be higher. I don't get the shock of I should be so lucky, personally I find it cheesy she has far better songs so I'd say it's placing is about right

'I Should Be So Lucky' has its place, but I don't ever really listen to it.

'Please Stay' I do quite like, but it's fair to say it's gone on to become one of her most non-entity/forgotten singles.

'Wow' I loved at the time, but I struggle to get enjoyment out of it now. I don't know if that's through overplay or simply having outgrown it.

Wow trades on a very obvious (and undeniable) hook, but I don't think it's the sort of song that stands the test of time at all - unless you're new to Kylie. It's like fast food, it's satisfying but you'll be hungry again in a few hours.

Please Stay did as expected as a lot of fans are pretty dismissive against it, I’ve alway been a fan.

Wow is overrated in my opinion, I always skip it.

I have always liked please stay but its one of her most played songs for me, i have always liked wow but prob dont listen to it as much as i used to, lucky ive always loved and very signature kylie song but its the live versions i love and listen to alot of.
