Its certainly a lot different to her usual uber-cool mid tempo R&B style of songs that we are used to, I think it doesn't even really sound like Mabel vocally. I quite like it, good fun but could do with being a bit more dance and a bit less poppy to make it sound cooler, as it is a little bit on the cheesy side.

Omg THIS to this and omg THIS to everything Ler Ha Wallace said too!!

Now that I've listened to it, it looks and sounds VERY Spice Girls (biggest girl band of ALL TIME by FAAAAR, followed by TLC and DC, even though they were smaller than Backstreet Boys) . It sounds like something the Spice Girls would release today had they lasted 2 decades instead of two years. She even looks a bit like Geri Halliwell Spice in it too.

As much as I hate this with a passion I’m gutted for Mabel (Down to 86 on Spotify) She’s talented, Seems so genuine and lovely and I’ve been such a huge fan from the beginning.

I really hope the next single is better, I’m confident it will be.

Hate it with a passion seems so much for a song like this, I'm all for having your own opinion etc ....but this is a fairly inoffensive pop song? Each to their own 🤣

I agree, I do think there will be better on the album as much as I do love this, it's mostly MNEK produced apparently and I usually love most of his productions.

Still love it, but so disappointed with how this is doing so far :nocheer:

It does seem strong but I do! The way she hyped up a brand new ‘Real me Era’ and came out with her worst song (From her entire catalogue not just singles) isn’t helping either.

I genuinely keep turning off capital when it comes on....

Her sound was always effortlessly ‘cool’ sounding and LTK’s vocal doesn’t even sound like her.

Gosh people are so dramatic and negative

At least give the single a week before writing it off. Most new songs fall on Spotify on Saturday doesn't mean her career is over

It's showing potential on Apple, and not only in the UK

Apple Music:

#30 Ireland

#45 United Kingdom

#76 Cyprus

#91 Finland

#96 Austria

#98 Germany

#100 Bulgaria

#110 Lithuania

#115 Slovenia

#128 Malta

#178 Bahrain

It’s no different than the people Saying it’s the song of year and going wild over it. People are only raising eyebrows because I have a strong opinion opposing the ‘Giving the gays want they want’ wigs are flying etc...

All of Mabel's singles climbed to their peaks so I'm sure this will too, I wouldn't read too much into its Spotify positions until a few weeks' time!

I'm enjoying this but I do have to try and ignore the lyrics because they are really poor and basic. They don't even rhyme most of the time. I like the musicality to the song but it feels like such a large step-down from anything from her album or even Boyfriend.

I wouldn't be too surprised if this were to do nothing in the charts because it sounds nothing like the rest of her hits so I could see a lot of her previous fans not liking it.

I'm struggling to see what's happening in this thread... Sounds like what BJ normally lap up to me.

I love this, sounds HUGE. Though that means it'll, almost certainly, underperform (everything I think sounds huge tends to flop 🤣)

That merch has a very strong "straight girls on a night out in a gay bar"-vibe to me. Just like the song basically, maybe that's my biggest problem with this release.

Yeah same! It's a fun club bop with some silly lyrics. That was the intention and that's the appeal. I can understand that sound is not for everyone but it's really not that far off the sound of some of her previous singles.

The overreacting and piling on in here is bizarre. Some of you need to lighten up and not take the song so seriously

This has already been reduced to 59p.

Anyone else surprised this hasnt gone top 10 on intunez?

Not really. She has tiny fanbase. Only Don't Call Me Up went top 10 on iTunes in its first week from her previous singles I think

I'm not going to lie I am slightly underwhelmed by its performance so far and thought it would at LEAST go Top 40 with ease on release but ...that's now looking unlikely :(.

Mabel's team are fantastic though so hopeful it can rise in popularity!
