December 20, 20204 yr Equal sounds much better than minus tbh In a divided world that seems like an apt choice too if the albums message was all about equality, plus all the political unrest from protests multiplying! EDIT: I just realised I used mathematical words in that statement from Ed’s catalogue! Edited December 20, 20204 yr by awardimerry
December 21, 20204 yr Interesting vocals with the double-tracking, but makes it sound way less commercial. It's pretty nice on first listen, I don't think it will be challenging LadBaby for Xmas No.1, it sounds big but certainly not Shape Of You huge.
December 21, 20204 yr it's kinda on the same vein as SUPERMARKET FLOWERS :) an Iron & Wine reference! Iron & Wine is one of the best underground indie bands ever, so Ed trying to "be authentic" I guess with that reference Edited December 21, 20204 yr by Bjork
December 21, 20204 yr On first listen, this is by far my favourite song of his. He's gone a little bit Bon Iver.
December 21, 20204 yr It really is his Folklore moment - good call on that! I guess it was expected what with lockdown and the birth of his daughter (and his bezzie Taylor's huge success) that he'd be in a more reflective mood.
December 21, 20204 yr insta added as track #1 on HH on Spotify it sounds very classic singer-songwriter song
December 21, 20204 yr I think this is very David Gray-White Ladder territory as usual with Ed, good melody, he clearly has an ear for music and can write a song, but lyrics are just ok, nothing amazing in those lyrics but at least they're not as silly or idiotic as most of his old songs
