Hi Adam!

Glad to see Daisies and Stuck With U appear here  I wasn't a fan of the latter when it was released, but I've grown to love it loads now!

I also need to check out the Frock Destroyers' album because Break Up Bye Bye was iconic

Hey Calum!

Yeah I was the opposite with Stuck With U, loved it when it first came out but it totally aged on me really quickly!

OMG do it, Frock Destroyers are such a guilty pleasure of mine! The album is full of innuendos of course but there are some bops! I recommend 'Her Majesty' and 'Big Ben'

40. Ava Max - Take You To Hell

Release Date: September 18, 2020 UK Chart Peak: DNC
Adam's Chart Run: (10 weeks) | Peak: 03 | 8-5-3-3-9-8-19-19-28-40-x

At #40, we have the second entry from Ava Max. Her debut album Heaven & Hell features two sides, one being Heaven and one being Hell. Take You To Hell opens the Hell side of the album and introduces us to the darker side of Ava. As you can see this track spent a while in the top ten for me, peaking twice at #3. There's not much more I can say other than this is a solid album track from Ava, the stronger tracks are yet to appear I think. I love the message of the song though - treat her right and she'll take you to heaven... but if you don't, she'll take you to hell. A QUEEN.

39. Ariana Grande - positions

Another entry here from Ariana with her monster hit single positions. This song had a huge SIX weeks at number one in the official chart, and only lost it's reign due to the influx of Christmas songs. For me, I really wasn't impressed by this at first. But like a lot of people, it really grew on me and I actually think it's one of her best singles now! Listening to the album in full, it's very clear why this track was chosen as the lead single as it is the most commercial. It's still charting from me and I expect it to climb further when the Christmas songs drop out on Friday. I don't think it will re-peak but it's a solid effort from Ariana, and isn't getting old for me yet!

EDIT: Also, just a quick note... HOW EPIC IS THE MUSIC VIDEO?! :cheeseblock:

38. Lady Gaga - Free Woman

Release Date: May 29, 2020 UK Chart Peak: DNC
Adam's Chart Run: (11 weeks) | Peak: 20 | 21-25-20-26-32-44-x-35-31-24-30-46-x

#38 sees the first of multiple entries from Lady Gaga. Let me tell you, the amount of times I listened to Chromatica in full is beyond me! Free Woman peaking at #20 is probably a result of multiple albums plays. It's by far not my favourite from the album, but I do like the hook and it's very Kygo-esque! It probably would've done quite well over here as a single tbh, the UK loves a good electronic drop.

37. Marshmello - Be Kind (with Halsey)

Release Date: May 1, 2020 UK Chart Peak: 33
Adam's Chart Run: (10 weeks) | Peak: 07 | 44-17-10-7-8-13-16-30-39-45-x

Be Kind was released earlier this year and I thought it was a really good song! It seemed to be very loved by other members of Buzzjack, probably a little bit overhyped in my opinion. Halsey is an artist I've never really cared for other than when she featured on Closer but she sounds great on this. Marshmello always seems to release bops in my opinion and this is no exception.

Giving Lemons a listen now - a nice summery track as you say, I would imagine it would be a grower as well.

Diamonds is probably the best song I've heard from Sam to date, and Be Kind was another I didn't expect to like as much as I did, that chorus is excellent.

Hey again :hi:

Lemons is cute isn't it, sounded really fresh when enjoying the sun in the first lockdown!

I agree with Diamonds, Sam's outdone themselves this year!

36. Lady Gaga - Stupid Love

Release Date: February 28, 2020 UK Chart Peak: 05
Adam's Chart Run: (11 weeks) | Peak: 12 | 28-15-12-12-13-24-32-32-39-x-40-48-x

Ah, Stupid Love... It's weird to think Lady Gaga also had a top 5 hit this year with SL. The success of Rain On Me definitely makes it hard to remember Stupid Love. It only managed a #12 peak for me, but then again I started charting when ROM came out, so it definitely overshadowed. It would have been had a top ten peak for me had I been charting back in March. Stupid Love came out when I was training for an entertainment job this year, so it definitely reminds me of that time. Probably the last time I remember actually enjoying myself at parties before lockdown happened. Seems so long ago now! It's an alright track, not her best single at all but I loved it all the same when it was released, and it still sounds good playing it just now! There's better single choices on Chromatica though IMO.

35. Katy Perry - Cry About It Later

Release Date: August 28, 2020 UK Chart Peak: DNC
Adam's Chart Run: (10 weeks) | Peak: 02 | 9-4-2-4-8-16-22-24-24-24-45-x

I will never forgive the UK public for SLEEPING on this song! Katy's second and I think final entry lands at #35. Cry About It Later is a whole bop and I won't accept any further comments on it. Much more like her roots, it's a dance-pop bop! All about forgetting about your worries for the night and enjoying yourself. As I said earlier in the chart, Katy's material has been below par since Prism, but this comes as somewhat of a glimpse of what we know Katy Perry can do. It managed to peak at #2 for me and probably deserved a week at #1 because I was spamming it for a good week or so. Bravo Katy. :music:

34. Diana Vickers - The Boy Who Murdered Love

Okay... so it's a 2020 EOY chart and we have a song a decade old here  I'm keeping it in my 2020 chart as it is this year that it has earned it's status as #34.

Diana Vickers was my absolute favourite artist for many years when I was growing up and this song has became one of my favourite songs of all time. It's a very unexpected appearance in my EOY chart but I just can't skip this song when it comes on. It's pop perfection and I am constantly bopping to it! You can see it plodding along for 15 weeks in my chart this year. Who knows if it will appear again in 2021, I wouldn't count it out! It's criminal it only managed a #36 peak back in 2010 as it deserved so much more. I wish Diana released more music, but I'm glad she has found happiness in her acting and musical theatre career. I saw her in the Rocky Horror Picture Show and she was fab. She's also been the lead in a movie called 'Awaiting', check it out!

At #33 we have yet another entry from Miss Ava Max . Belladonna is my absolute highlight from the album and was one of multiple number ones from Heaven & Hell on my chart. It's dark, it's catchy and the production is FANTASTIC. Also special mention to the whistle notes at the end... didn't expect that when I first heard it! Ava is an incredible vocalist and I really hope she tours once the pandemic ends, because I'd love to see her live.

Release Date: November 4, 2020 UK Chart Peak: 23
Adam's Chart Run: (7 weeks) | Peak: 02 | 16-5-2-3-4-9-14*

Confetti is one of the newest tracks in my EOY chart. Released as a promotional single two days before the album dropped, this is SUCH A BOP. If it wasn't for Sweet Melody totally dominating my chart for the past two months, I have no doubt this would have been a #1 for me. One of the few songs Jesy Nelson wrote for the album and she didn't disappoint! I'm really going to miss her :(. Confetti is still charting for me and has only dropped out of the top ten due to the Christmas rush, and honestly I wouldn't count it out for making #1 in the future... well if it can stop Sweet Melody from smashing . I'm so glad it managed to chart for the girls, it really deserved it! A few more Little Mix tracks to come, I'm sure.

31. Ava Max - My Head & My Heart

Release Date: November 19, 2020 UK Chart Peak: DNC
Adam's Chart Run: (5 weeks) | Peak: 02 | 8-4-2-3-3*

Finishing off today's update at #31 is the most recent song in my EOY chart and is the fourth entry from Ava Max. This song is strongly becoming one of her very best and has been in my top 3 for three weeks now and I'm still charting it. To be honest, it may end up being the first song to dethrone Sweet Melody at #1. She really doesn't disappoint does she? Another dance bop from Ava, this time using an infectious sample from All Around The World. I really hope this is given a push in the new year because it could easily become another hit for her, it's so radio friendly.

We start today with another musical at #30. Come From Away is a show focus around those events that unfolded on September 11, 2001. Let me tell you, there is not a dry eye in the theatre at this show. I won't give anything away but I REALLY recommend you check this show out if you ever get a chance! Me And The Sky is such a great track and I went through a stage where it was my favourite song.

Adam's Chart Run: (10 weeks) | Peak: 01 | 10-3-1-2-4-13-15-13-26-32-x

Ava, let's talk. WHY ON EARTH WAS THIS NOT A SINGLE!?!? :nono:
A complete and utter bop, and along with Who's Laughing Now and Belladonna, this is the third track from Ava Max that managed to hit number one for me. I adore this song, it's so well done. Production-wise it's faultless, it's literally pop perfection... I kinda just wish the end went that little bit further? It would have benefitted from a great final build up. Nonetheless, this is one of the best songs Ava has ever done and fully deserved it's spot at #1 for me, and probably deserved to stick around in my chart longer than 10 weeks.

Adam's Chart Run: (9 weeks) | Peak: 07 | 12-9-7-9-16-20-25-29-37-x

Tones And I has become quite the one hit wonder hasn't she! Dance Monkey was such a massive hit but nothing else seems to have taken off for her. I think it's a shame because she has some really great songs that people should check out. Ur So F**kInG cOoL is so annoying to type! But a proper sassy song about those typical people you can't stand because they're so far up their own backside. Tones' voice sounds great on this and I'm glad I came across it back in May.

I don't think anybody expected such a decent song from Joel Corry. I enjoyed Lonely but the opinions on here seemed quite negative towards it. I don't think any of us were prepared for Head & Heart. I would go as far as to say it was the song of the Summer wasn't it? I've never really heard of MNEK before this (although I now know he helped write/produce Confetti so big ++++ for you, MNEK ). It only managed four weeks in my top ten but it stuck around for quite a while and rightly so. I still enjoy H&H to this day and it looks like it may be heading back to the top ten in the official chart soon. What an absolute BANGER :music:

Adam's Chart Run: (12 weeks) | Peak: 08 | 26-14-11-10-25-14-15-9-8-16-37-44-x

New Music Friday is the gift that keeps on giving! I first came across Far Away From Home when scrolling through NMF. I'd never heard of any of these artists but I am so glad I came across this song! It's a proper bop and probably one of the least popular releases this year. Some may say it's another generic DJ track, and it kind of is, but I love it all the same
