December 30, 20205 yr ^my issue is why not post the whole thing, who cares if Kylie is 45 or 46 Because its a Kylie forum, they are not going to post anything else but Kylie information, Not really relevant to them to post the sales gap between Mariah & Wham got nothing to do with that social forum. Can't put it anymore clearer than that. -------------- On a different note nice to see my ex chart mod colleague online Snow Spiider :cheer: See PM
December 30, 20205 yr Even if Wham is only a few copies behind they will both be selling less and less each hour now and by this date next week they will be back to the normal sales they have each week between January - September again. Surely the chart will be packed with xmas songs still by Friday as the streams of the normal songs have been quite low all week for whatever reason?
December 30, 20205 yr the yearly Wham! for #1 campaign need to get their act together now in that case, this is the best chance they'll ever get of going to #1. Mariah is doing better on streaming currently however, so she'll remain #1 unless there is a Wham sales push. I would say their best chance they got was the year after George died, when they would have been a shoe-in for number 1 if Ed didn't release a load of versions of Perfect! ;)

There are 12 versions of it in the Amazon top 80 right now, so even if they're both doing nothing perhaps that could be enough to make up for it if the difference really is 89 copies.
December 30, 20205 yr if you wanna help Wham the easiest thing is to buy the song on iTunes, sure there are multiple versions on iTunes, get 10 friends and buy 10 different versions each, and you got 100 sales already and you can do it on Amazon and all other platforms and thats even more Edited December 30, 20205 yr by Bjork
December 30, 20205 yr In a way i dont want mariah to be back at number 1 as she will then hold the record for the biggest fall from number 1.
December 30, 20205 yr Not posted in a while so hello to members from years gone by (and some old chart mod friends) and hello to all new posters and those I haven't conversed with here before. The Wham! vs Mariah chart battle this week is interesting. Is Mariah 79 or ~400 ahead. If someone has the breakdown, what are the splits in the totals between SES and Sales? Trying to work out of a Wham! ITunes/sales push could be enough to take it for them. Good to see you post again :o Hope you had a good Christmas (insofar as it was allowed) and best wishes for the new year!
December 30, 20205 yr In a way i dont want mariah to be back at number 1 as she will then hold the record for the biggest fall from number 1. Just think, we could have two consecutive weeks where the Number 1 single drops out of the Top 100 the following week! (Almost certainly the Top 40 anyway, which would still be a new record.)
December 31, 20205 yr I really hope Wham can make it. Been streaming them and watching you tube videos of Last Christmas If enough of us do this and publicise it, they could make it. Edited December 31, 20205 yr by Jamesmk1974
December 31, 20205 yr I really hope Wham can make it. Been streaming them and watching you tube videos of Last Christmas If enough of us do this and publicise it, they could make it. I wouldn’t bother watching the video on YouTube as: a) you’d need to watch it 1,200 times to get 1 sale b) streams after midnight tonight won’t count anyway as they’re estimated A 24 hour downloading spree would work though! Can’t see much evidence of it rising on ITunes so far.
December 31, 20205 yr Good to see you post again :o Hope you had a good Christmas (insofar as it was allowed) and best wishes for the new year! thank you Suedehead. Good to see you continue to work so hard on these forms and I regularly read your weekly chart commentary posts on the front page, they're a great read and I'm a stats fan myself too.:) Edited December 31, 20205 yr by Snow Spiider

December 31, 20205 yr Can Wham! finally make No.1 with Last Christmas? by Andre Paine December 31st 2020 at 10:21AM Mariah Carey has done it. And now Wham! could be about to repeat her trick of taking a Christmas classic to No.1. Last Christmas (Sony CG) could finally reach a new peak at the top of the charts on Friday (January 1). The single (actually a double A-side with Everything She Wants) by George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley was famously held off the top spot by Band Aid for five weeks during December 1984. In the Midweek sales flash, the beloved ’80s pop duo were just 89 sales behind Mariah Carey, who was on 34,888 by the end of Tuesday (Official Charts Company). All I Want For Christmas Is You is attempting a return to the summit after LadBaby usurped Carey’s hit on Christmas Day. Carey’s festive favourite has already earned two weeks at No.1 and is chasing a third non-consecutive week at the top. Crucially, though, Wham! have sales momentum. As festive streaming continues in late December, Last Christmas’ sales were up 11.2% week-on-week compared to 4.5% for Mariah Carey by the end of Tuesday. Wham! could now have pulled ahead of their chart rival. Wham!’s last No.1 single was The Edge Of Heaven in 1986. The duo had four No.1s between 1984 and 1986. Last Christmas has so far spent eight non-consecutive weeks at No.2 since 1984. from musicweek.com
December 31, 20205 yr ^^ Thanks Robbie, no updated mids on MW just checked, they still have last week's showing.
December 31, 20205 yr tomorrow's chart should be very interesting in which case especially if we don't get any mids today. I hope Wham! can somehow pull ahead given Mariah has already got her long awaited #1 peak.
December 31, 20205 yr 35k is more than expected for Mariah and Wham! actually. They should definitely be safe from being overtaken by any non Christmas songs then. Even though the gap was only 89 I can't see how Wham! will do it without some sort of download campaign, as the figures added since then will be a) very small and b) in Mariah's favour.
December 31, 20205 yr I can't see how LC could close that gap given they are probably behind in streams?
December 31, 20205 yr They are both gonna be streaming pretty much nil now anyway, and there's a small campaign going with people downloading all the versions on Amazon. I think they're gonna do it!
December 31, 20205 yr hope people are downloading Wham from Amazon on iTunes both Wham and Mariah are doing zero, not even top 100 and nothing on streams either, Wham is at like 900-ish on Apple Music now
