The Pretty Reckless' last album only charted at #23 (following their first two both making the top 10), would be quite a comeback if they're contending for #1 this time around!

Pale Waves' debut got to #8 and slowthai's got to #9, I expect both will be contending for the top 5 at least this time but not sure about #1 - definitely rooting for slowthai to get the #1 though, all 3 of the singles I've heard so far from it have been great. I could see the #1 ending up just being The Weeknd by default on <10k sales or something though.

Pale Waves' debut sold 7.1k in 2018 (a bit higher than I was expecting!), I think they could push for 12k+ this time - especially if its close in the charts

I could see Pale Waves opening with similar sales to last time.

Surely we can't rule out Foo Fighters remaining #1? Their second week drop was 68% for their previous album, which would mean 13k+ with this album if they dropped the same. I imagine the drop will be a bit steeper but could still top 10k which I think is all it'll take to remain #1.

Yeah it's possible Foo Fighters could still get a second week at #1 as well. (Possibly coming for the rare 'massive drop from #1 after being #1 for 2 weeks')

I was thinking Pale Waves would have a chance at #1, seem more popular now than before, and got plenty of radio support.

They're also signed to the Dirty Hit label which I'm sure it's gonna go the extra mile to get the #1

EDIT: just checked and they have 5 different cassette formats :D Super expensive now but sure they're gonna go for 1 pound by Thursday

Pretty Reckless still #1 on albums, with Foo Fighters at #2 and Pale Waves at #3

really surprised at Pretty Reckless still being #1... looking at their sales, debut album opened with 11K, 2nd album with 9K

and then their 3rd and most recent album opened with just 4K, so I wasn't expecting this apparent popularity...

How much do you have to sell to get top 10 in the iTunes album chart?

Glad to see The Pretty Reckless and Inglorious doing well!

Like 50 downloads or something.

Ah OK. Not much then, thanks

the schedule is pretty dead this week and next

and then lots of releases on the 1st week of March

didn't know David Gray has a new album out! Not released physically yet though

I'm not sure what the selling power of Mogwai is but perhaps The Weeknd's GH could go to #1 by default this coming week?

Ghetts will probably do decently on streaming but not on the level of Slowthai, I don't see him challenging for #1.

last Mogwai album opened with 6K:

It is 20 years next month since Glaswegian rock band Mogwai's debut album Young Team gained a toehold on the chart, debuting at No.75 on sales of 2,683 copies. Their 10th regular studio album, Every Country's Sun, is also the highest-charting, debuting at No.6 (6,331 sales) to surpass their ninth, which became their first to make the Top 10 when it debuted and peaked at No.10 (7,783 sales) in 2014. They have been in the chart since then with Atomic, the soundtrack to a BBC war documentary with instrumental soundscapes fashioned by the band, which reached No.20 (4,242 sales) last year.

I think it'll be Ghetts at #1 but probably sub-10k. I can't see The Weeknd getting it, he'll probably do 5k or 6k.

Maybe Gary Barlow can get there after his performance on Saturday Night Takeaway tomorrow night. :D

the Ghetts album is unexpectedly good, not what I had expected, very melodic and almost r'n'b-esque

there is a nice track with Emeli Sande

should be an easy #1 but mostly cos of lack of competition

I think it'll be Ghetts at #1 but probably sub-10k. I can't see The Weeknd getting it, he'll probably do 5k or 6k.

Same here, I can't see the Weeknd getting it, I can't see the #1 album above 10k at the moment.

I think she would've had a good chance if the vinyl release had lined up this week as well but sadly that's not until April

Hoping for a top 10 re-entry though.
