West Ten :wub: a bop!

I do like the Becky Hill one too, but I got bored of it quickly :( (like a lot of her songs oops)

Excited for more of the top 50 now though :cheeseblock:

48 = Leftwing : Koby ft Leo Stannard // Purple Sunshine = 323pts

Chart Run (03-02-09-11-13-17-19-22-20-16-21-28-33-38-40)

Peak = 02

Weeks on Chart = 15 Weeks

At 48 is a song which I basically found when I was going through various dance playlists on Spotify and made a top 3 debut on my chart. Purple Sunshine then went on to peak at 2 the following week, however then sharply fell out of the top 10. The song however did stabilise and managed in total 15 weeks on my chart. The song builds up throughout to bring some great drops in the chorus – it’s quite a catchy song and my most over-used phrase: is a bit of a bop.

47 = CamelPhat ft Noel Gallagher // Not Over Yet = 323pts

Chart Run (03-02-03-04-06-05-07-09-07-X)

Peak = 02

Weeks on Chart = 9 Weeks (Still Charting)

47 sees another CamelPhat track with Not Over Yet. This song is the second highest CamelPhat song and is an album track which features Noel Gallagher on vocal. When CamelPhat’s album was released, the song managed to debut at 3 on my chart and climbed into the top 2 the following week. This was such an instant song for me and was surprised really that it wasn’t released as a single. The song is still charting and spent 9 weeks in my top 10 to manage to reach my top 50 – the song is outshined however by another album track (Keep Movin’) which is still to come.

46 = New Hope Club // Just to Find Love = 328pts

At 46 is the first of 4 New Hope Club songs to make it into my EOY top 50; Just to Find Love. The song was part of the deluxe album which was released in the middle of last year and was the one that caught my attention most and seemingly other people’s too as they even made a video for it. The song spent 6 weeks in my top 10 and peak at Number 2, in total spending 12 weeks on my chart. A good song with a catchy hook, however sadly didn’t reach the heights of some of their other tracks on my chart.

Coming in at 45 is Blossoms with If You Think This is Real Life, the song had quite a lot of staying power in my chart as it spent 10 weeks in my top 20, peaking at Number 7. In total it spent 16 weeks on my chart. Whilst it isn’t my favourite Blossoms song, the song is incredibly catchy, and the chorus kept getting stuck in my head… I definitely need to check out their most recent album more.

Peak = 04

Weeks on Chart = 14 Weeks

44 sees the second and highest song by Paloma Faith on my EOY chart. Better Than This was the first single to be released from her most recent album and was a song that struck a chord with me. The song had a couple of winds on my chart initially entering at 11 and spending 4 weeks between 10 and 11, it then drifted down into the top 20 before surging back into the top 10 and peaking at 4. The song is quite downbeat but very powerful; Paloma’s vocal and the pacing of the song and how it builds is incredibly effective… another who’s latest album I need to check out more of.

Just to Find Love :wub: a great song! (although pretty much all of their album is haha)

Better Than This... I haven't gone back to at all :ph34r: Infinite Things is a solid album though, definitely check it out when you can if you're a fan of that song ^_^

At 43 is Adam Lambert and Nile Rodgers with Roses a song which debuted at 2 and went on to spend 15 weeks on my chart. I’ve been a big fan of Adam since ever since he was on American Idol and loved his first album. I’ve found his subsequent stuff to be a bit hit and miss, however this one really struck a chord with me – the bassline in particular is great throughout this – as with the last 2 entrants his latest album is one I need to check out more.

Chart Run (02-03-01-01-01-01-03-03-05-X)

Peak = 01 (4 Weeks @ Number 1)

Weeks on Chart = 9 Weeks

At 42 is the highest placed CamelPhat song this year and it probably would’ve been safely in my EOY top 20 had it had more time to rack up points. As it is, it had 9 weeks on my chart all of which were in my top 5 and spent 4 weeks at the top of my chart. The song is an album track and was the one that instantly hit me when Dark Matter was released. A great song and hook and one of my favourites from the album.

…and just missing out on my EOY top 40 is Lonely by Joel Corry, a song which I’m actually surprised is this high as I don’t remember loving it as much of some of the other songs which have since gone. However looking at its chart run, it was in my top 20 for 11 weeks despite a Number 7 peak and in total spent 16 weeks charting. It is the second highest Joel Corry song behind Head and Heart; Lonely is a fairly basic dance track and possibly nothing really new… but it is catchy and has a good hook.

Peak = 04

Weeks on Chart = 13 Weeks (Still Charting)

Kicking off the top 40 is the 2nd highest song by Eli Brown with Killer. The song peaked at 4 and in total has spent 13 weeks on my chart, however is still charting within 2021. The song is great from the lyrics to the build and chorus/ drops – it almost has a bit of a retro vibe too. As I’ve mentioned previously Eli’s releases have been quite consistently strong throughout 2019/2020… although his EP wasn’t exactly to my tastes when it was released. Killer is second to Desire which is still to chart to come…

Chart Run (X-02-04-05-06-03-06-12-14-19-25-28-30-33-37-39)

Peak = 01 (2 Weeks @ Number 1) (Peaked in 2019)

Weeks on Chart = 15 Weeks (in 2020)

At 39 is the 2nd highest song by The Weeknd with Blindling Lights. The song made it to 90th place in my 2019 EOY chart and had previously peaked in 2019 at Number 1. However come 2020, it was still riding high in my top 20 and went on to spend 15 weeks in 2020 on my chart. The song is absolutely brilliant and definitely still one of my favourite songs, it also I think showed a bit of a different side to the Weeknd who felt like to be releasing fairly samey songs. His most recent album though is great with several bops – there is still one more song from the Weeknd to come; Save Your Tears which charted well before its now being pushed as a single…

38 = HRVY // NEVERMIND = 357pts

Peak = 03

Weeks on Chart = 14 Weeks

38 sees the first of a number of HRVY songs to reach my top 40 EOY. Nevermind is a song I wasn’t initially sold on when it was released and it didn’t hit my chart for a couple of weeks, however then it clicked and the middle eight got in my head and went on to peak at 3 on my chart. In total it spent 5 weeks in my top 10 and 14 weeks on my chart. The song is lifted from the ill-fated album Can Anybody Hear Me? Which was pulled prior to release… I sort of get the reasoning behind the pull, although any publicity gained from Strictly may have faded a bit before anything further is released. But I guess we’ll see what happens in 2021.

Weeks on Chart = 15 Weeks (in 2020)

At 37 is the first of 3 Harry Styles songs to make it into my EOY Top 40; Adore You. The song actually spent 4 weeks charting in my top 10 in 2019 and made it to 119th on last years EOY. Adore You however was my first number 1 of 2020 and spent 2 weeks at the top and 15 weeks this years charting. I think this is my second favourite Harry song (behind Golden) and its extremely catchy and a great pop song. His second album has produced consistently high standard of songs and will be interesting to see what happens with Album 3.

Peak = 06

Weeks on Chart = 17 Weeks

At 36 is the second highest entry by Dua Lipa this year with Physical. I did like this song and it did get 2 winds on my chart after it initially started failing down. The song managed a resurgence to re-peak in the top 10. In total Physical spent 17 weeks on my chart, however, is second behind Break My Heart in this EOY Chart. Coming after Don’t Start Now, this probably didn’t get the engagement from me it deserved, however it stuck around my chart for an age, which I guess makes up for the Number 6 peak.

Chart Run (09-07-02-02-06-08-09-12-15-19-24-27-33-37)

Peak = 02

Weeks on Chart = 14 Weeks

At 35 is Born to Love by MEDUZA a song which failed to do anything officially after the successes of Piece of My Heart and Lose Control. Born to Love feels like a bit of departure from those styles (something which Paradise seemed to return to), however I think it works because of that. The song managed to get to number 2 and spent 2 weeks there, in total it racked up 14 weeks on my chart. I don’t think its possibly as instant as their previous 2 songs, however still a good song.

Chart Run (10-05-06-03-02-06-10-15-19-26-26-29-26-29-36)

Peak = 02

Weeks on Chart = 15 Weeks

At 34 is the 2nd song by HRVY to reach my EOY top 40 with Me Because of You, the song took a while to reach its peak, however after 5 weeks climbed to 2 and in total spent 15 weeks on my chart. The song itself is alright, although in retrospect probably isn’t one of my favourite HRVY songs – the chorus is catchy though and its does build throughout however for me doesn’t quite reach the highs of some other songs he's released.
