33 = Harry Styles // Watermelon Sugar = 370pts

Chart Run (X-11-07-11-11-13-17-21-19-24-27-34-39-X-22-17-20-26-29-31-34-37)

Peak = 07

Weeks on Chart = 20 Weeks (in 2020)

33 sees another appearance from Harry Styles with Watermelon Sugar, the song is Harry’s 2nd highest song on my EOY with Golden still to go. Watermelon Sugar had a bit of a mammoth chart run and even charted for a while in 2019. Eventually the song peaked at Number 7, however in 2020 spent 20 weeks on my chart and even re-entered when the song was pushed as a single. I’d say now that the song is good, however my favourite song from the album is Golden with Adore You in 2nd place.

32 = Jake Bugg // All I Need = 370pts

Chart Run (03-01-01-02-03-04-04-06-07-09-X)

Peak = 01 (2 Weeks @ Number 1)

Weeks on Chart = 10 Weeks (Still Charting)

32 sees the first appearance of Jake Bugg on my EOY chart and this feels too low for this song given its been one of my favourites of the last year, however probably not helped on my EOY by the fact it only had 10 weeks to rack up points. The song spent all of those 10 weeks in the top 10 and peaked for 2 weeks at Number 1. I'm guessing this will make an appearance in my 2021 EOY chart as All I Need is still in my top 20 - such a bop and so instant too. Jake is firing all cylinders with the singles leading up to his next album – this, Kiss Like the Sun and Rabbit Hole are all amazing. I’ve really like Jake’s stuff since his first album and whilst some of his other albums didn’t do it for me, I’ve recently gone back and binged them so much. Probably my favourite current artist – now p!ss off Covid so he can release and tour the album!

31 = Troye Sivan // Easy = 376pts

Peak = 06

31 sees the first of 3 appearance from Troye Sivan in my EOY top 40. He managed to take my Number 1 song of the year in 2018 with Dance to This and finished in 3rd place last year with I’m so Tired, this year he still has 2 songs in the running. Easy wasn’t as instant for me as Take Yourself Home, however did enter my chart at 6 before falling out of the top 10. It then went on to yo-yo up and down my top 20 for a considerable number of weeks and spent 17 weeks on my chart in total. The song grew on me massively throughout the year and I love how the song builds up… Has to be said though the remix did absolutely nothing for me at all!

Kicking off the top 30 are Regard and RAYE, to me Regard seemed like they were going to be a one hit wonder after Ride It smashed however here they return with RAYE with another bop. I’ve never been a massive fan of RAYE’s output, however the last year or so she’s released (or been part of) some great songs, also Regardless has hit number 1 on my chart this year. Secrets spent 16 weeks on my chart in total and managed to peak at Number 7 – the song was yo-yoing up and down my top 20 for many weeks before eventually leaving the chart. This is the second highest song to feature RAYE as Tequila is still to come.

Peak = 02

Weeks on Chart = 15 Weeks

29 sees the first appearances of Seeb and Zak Abel on my EOY chart, both of whom have another song each to come in my top 30. Sad in Scandinavia was a song I disregarded to start with, however upon relistening to hit it become stuck in my head and entered my chart at the hefty heights of Number 2. It went on to spend 7 weeks in my top 10 and 15 weeks in total on my chart. I really like Zak as a vocalist and has appeared on many bops over the years, it’s a shame though he hasn’t really had more success.

A bit of a big jump up next in terms of points/ chart runs as we have another song featuring Zak Abel at 28. Whilst Sad in Scandinavia peaked at 2, Bad peaked at 3 and spent 4 weeks at that peak and a total of 7 weeks in the top 10. I really like this song and its incredibly catchy/ instant for me. I think as a song it did alright on i-tunes… but alas is the case with most dance songs didn’t really do much on streaming. This is the highest Zak Abel song on my EOY and only Don Diablo song. As I said in the previous entry hopefully Zak can get some more commerical success as his features on this, Sad in Scandinavia, The Power and also Freedom are all great and he deserves some actual success.

Weeks on Chart = 20 Weeks

The dance continues next as Roses is in at 27 on my EOY chart. The song actually only peaked at 5, however had quite a mammoth chart run and clocked up 20 weeks on my chart with 6 weeks in the top 10. The song off course was one of the major dance hits of last year and actually managed to go Number 1 officially. I do really like the song and its funny at times seeing what does manage to cross over and become and hit and what songs get frustratingly left behind. I guess those involved are a bit of one hit wonder, although Imanbek did manage to score a second hit on my chart with Goodbye later in the year.

…following Roses is another song with a bit of a mammoth chart run; Be Okay. The song debuted in my top 20 and I wasn’t 100% sold on it to start with, however (as with a lot of songs) got in my head and then went on to continue climbing and peaked at Number 6. The song spent 13 weeks in my top 20 yo-yoing up and down. The song is the 3rd highest song with HRVY on and the second highest appearance of R3HAB. I guess the song is a bit basic – but still catchy though… it was unable to give HRVY that elusive official hit though.

Kicking off the top 25 is the highest appearance of both Jax Jones and RAYE with Tequila. The song actually seems quite high considering its not really a song that I return to in any great way. The song also didn’t completely pull me in to start with, however went on to peak at Number 4 for 3 weeks. It had quite a stable chart run in the end and amassed 18 weeks on my chart. I do think this is an alight song, but I think if I was doing a list of my favourite songs from 2020 I don’t think this would be as high as this – but hey ho, I guess I did like it at the time.

At 24 is the first to two Troye songs to reach my EOY top 25; IN A DREAM. The Song is great IMO and this feels a little low considering I felt like I was hammering it for a fair few weeks. The song managed to peak at 4 and had 8 weeks in my top 10 and a total of 17 week on my chart. I love me some Troye and completely devoured his last album, his follow-up EP also contained some great songs too, it’s a shame he hasn’t got more success on the charts though. The top Troye song on my EOY chart this year is therefore Take Yourself Home which hit number 1 on my chart.

All of the HRVY :wub: still so much love for ME BECAUSE OF YOU, underrated tbh!

back-to-back Zak Abel, we love to see it :heart:

Should probably finish this off! At 23 is the highest entry by Seeb and the 2nd highest song with HRVY. Unfamiliar peaked at 2 on my chart for 2 weeks and spent a mammoth 17 weeks charting, spending 7 weeks in the top 10. The song is alright, in retrospect 23rd on my EOY is possibly a little on the high side but this is still a good song.

At 22 is the first of 2 songs by Duke Dumont which managed to hit the top spot in 2020. Love Song spent 3 weeks at the top of my chart and a total of 18 weeks on my chart. The song is quite lengthy, however the build up and drop is immense and was the main pull of the song to me. Therapy is still to come on my EOY and 2020 was a good year for Duke Dumont on my chart.

Just missing out on a place in the top 20 is the highest song by Sigala (and also James Arthur) with Lasting Lover. The song debuted at 2 on my chart before climbing to Number 1 in its 3rd week where it stayed for 2 weeks. In total the song spent 17 weeks on my chart and was still charting at the start of 2021. I was expecting this song to be massive officially and more so than its number 10 peak. Sigala was the last music act I saw live before the first lockdown almost a year ago now and I think his singles (and even his album) has been consistently strong for the last few years. Even the sample in this song works well as does James’ vocal (Buzzjack sacrilege)

Definitely need to finish this off :D kicking off the top 20 is the first of two songs from the Vamps to make it. Better wasn’t an instant song for me which I guess is odd as I think I prefer it to Married in Vegas now. The song was released in the run-up to Cherry Blossom being released and I think its probably one of the best songs The Vamps have released – great vocals, catchy chorus with a great hook too. It seems a shame that they are basically a one week album based act now and despite All Night being a streaming success that they haven’t managed to replicate that success with any of their subsequent material. Better managed to peak at Number 1 on my chart and has spent 13 weeks in my top 15 and was still charting as we went into 2021. I think had it charted earlier then It may have finished in my EOY top 10.

At 19 is the first of 3 appearances by New Hope Club in my EOY top 20 with Let Me Down Slow. The song is a remix version by R3HAB which was released towards the start of 2020. Let Me Down Slow peaked at 3 eventually and spent 8 weeks in my top 10 and a total of 17 weeks in my top 40. A stripped back version of the song is available on the album, however I think I prefer the remix… but I think that might be because I’m more familiar with it. A good song, good hook and one I still return to. With this out of the running, New Hope Club have Worse and You and I still to come.

A 18 is the highest ranked Jake Bugg song with Rabbit Hole. This is the song that kind of sparked my Jake Bugg revival and have since it’s release re-listened (quite heavily) to his previous albums. All I Need has pushed my revival even more and am eagerly anticipating his fifth album. Rabbit Hole peaked at Number 1 in my chart and spent 3 weeks at the top and a total of 16 weeks on my chart. Another song with an extremely catchy hook and is probably one of my favourite Jake Bugg songs (still). Although must be said that my revival has made me come away with new favourites particularly Indigo Blue which was a smash that never happened :D
