17 = Eli Brown // Desire = 450pts

Chart Run (05-03-03-05-08-08-10-11-15-18-16-20-22-24-25-29-29-38-40)

Peak = 03

Weeks on Chart = 19 Weeks

At 17 is the highest entry by Eli Brown with Desire a song with a massive 90’s dance feel and one which spent a mammoth 19 weeks. The song entered my chart at 5, however climbed to its peak position at Number 3 the following week. The song then went on to have quite a lengthy chart run as all the remaining songs do left on my EOY. The majority of Eli’s output over the last 18 months has been great… although his EP and song out last week weren’t really to my tastes. This is a bop though and still a song I return to.

Chart Run (02-02-01-02-03-04-06-07-10-12-13-16-23-31-35-33-39)

Peak = 01 (1 Week @ Number 1)

Weeks on Chart = 17 Weeks

At 16 is the second song from the Vamps to make my EOY chart and their highest song this year. Married in Vegas seemed to be a return to the more guitar based sound for the Vamps after a few years of dabbling in more dancier music after the success of All Night. Married in Vegas is a great song though with a good hook and extremely instant too. The song debuted at 2 on my chart before climbing to the top spot a couple of weeks later. It spent a total of 17 weeks on my chart before exiting and finished 2pts away from the top 15. As I said in the entry for Better, it’s a shame that this didn’t really dent the official charts as it’s a great track. I guess until they start getting put on more prominent Spotify playlists its will always be a problem.

Better slaying! Honestly it’s fast becoming their favourite song of mine :cheeseblock:

Hoping to see a good result for Good Vibes *.*

Kicking off the top 15 is Trouble’s Coming by Royal Blood which sort of took me by surprise when it was released and how infectious it was. I’ve never really been a Royal Blood fan and found some of their previous output kinda heavy – however this feels much more accessible and much more instant too. The song debuted at Number 2 and then went on to climb to the top spot 3 weeks later where it spent 2 weeks at the top of my chart. The song went on to spend the rest of 2020 clocking up points and was still charting into 2021. Royal Blood have also gone on to score a further Number 1 with Typhoons in 2021 and I’m looking forward to hearing the album when its released.

14 = Karen Harding x Digital Farm Animals // Undo My Heart = 465pts

At 14 is the highest appearance of Karen Harding who scored a big hit with Undo my Heart with Digital Farm Animals. Her highest charting song in 2020 came in at 23, so she’s done well here with Undo My Heart which is a song which spent 2 weeks at the top of my chart. The song debuted at 3, however climbed to the top spot the following week and went on to spent 10 weeks in the top 10 and 17 weeks in total on my chart. The song starts off fairly slowly, however builds throughout and has a great hook and is an all round bop. She released a single this year which although is currently charting, isn’t really in the same league as this song.

At 13 is Topic x A7S’ smash song Breaking Me; this song took a while for me to get going, however eventually debuted at 16 and went on to climb up my chart to its Number 2 peak. In total the song spent 14 weeks in my top 20 and 18 weeks in total on my chart. Breaking Me was one of a few dance songs to manage to crossover and be a hit officially too. There’s some great vocals on this song and an extremely catchy chorus. Its good to see that they’ve not become a one hit wonder their track with ATB now charting too.

12 sees the second highest song with Becky Hill and highest Sigala track this year. Both managed to reach Number 2 last year with Wish You Well after it spent 6 weeks at the top of my chart. Whilst I do really like Heaven on My Mind, it wasn’t as instant as Wish You Well, however as with most of Becky’s output I did become obsessed with this. The verses are a bit stronger for me than the chorus, however last part of the song is just infectious. It’s a great song for the summer and still one that I come back to…. Is it as good as Wish You Well, no. However still a bop and Becky with Sigala is a match made in heaven. The song eventually managed to peak at Number 2 and spent 11 weeks in my top 10 and 17 weeks charting in total.

Just missing out on a place in the top 10 is Mel C with Who I Am. The song came out of nowhere really and is just a great infectious pop song. I hadn’t really listened to much of Mel C’s output for many a year, however gave this a listen when I saw it near the top of the I-tunes chart and just thought it was great. The song debuted at 3 on my chart and climbed to number 2 the following week where it stayed for 3 weeks. Who I Am spent 10 weeks in my top 10 and 19 weeks in total on my chart. I still play this a fair bit and things its one of her best songs. Who I Am misses out on my EOY top 10 by just 10 points, however means all of the top 10 managed to accumulate over 500pts!

Peak = 02 (Peaked in 2019)

Kicking off the top 10 is a song which has spent in total 25 weeks on my chart, 23 of which were in 2020. Golden debuted in my chart at Number 2, however went on to have a rather lengthy chart run at the beginning of 2020; the spent 12 weeks in my top 20 and even had a second win when the song was eventually pushed as single later in 2020. Golden was instant for me and by far my favourite Harry Styles track; extremely catchy with an excellent hook and just a great all round bop. Its Harry’s highest placed single and would’ve been challenging for a top 5 position had all its chart run been in 2020. Looking forward to seeing what bops Harry releases next after the success of Fine Line.

At 9 is the highest entry by HRVY on my EOY with Good Vibes. This is 2 places lower than his highest track on my 2019 EOY, which saw I Miss Myself get to Number 7. Good Vibes was released in the run up to his Strictly appearance and is a feel good summer bop. The video is fun and the song has a good, catchy hook. As with the rest of his output, this didn’t really do anything officially due to lack of streaming, however is still a good song. Good Vibes entered my chart at Number 3 and went on to climb to Number 1 the following week. It spent 10 weeks in my top 10 and was still charting at the start of 2021. I’m looking forward to see what is released next and if it has any impact officially.

8 sees the highest charting song by Becky Hill with her collab with Shift K3Y; Better Ofd Without You. The song was released early in 2020 and debuted at Number 9 before climbing to the top 3 weeks later. It stayed at the top for 3 weeks and spent 20 weeks in total on my chart. Who doesn’t love a dance bop from Becky?|? and she’s amassed a shed load over the years. Whilst this possibly isn’t anything new, its highly infectious and has a brilliant chorus. I’m looking forward to seeing what she releases next and if she returns to the dance bops after the more laid back Space.

At 7 is Break My Heart by Dua Lipa which is a song which I sort of became obsessed with during the first lockdown. Whilst a lot of Buzzjack raved about Physical, this and Don’t Stop Now were infinitely better (IMO off course). This song is great, extremely catchy and a fantastic hook. The song debuted at 6 on my chart before climbing to number 1 3 weeks later. The song spent a total of 20 weeks on my chart and a total 14 weeks in the top 20. Hopefully Dua brings out another banger soon; we’re good is ok, but not at the same level as this.

At 6 is the highest song on my EOY chart by Duke Dumont with Therapy. I remember when this first dropped and thought is was absolutely amazing… and still do to be fair. Then it was followed up by Love Song which was similarly brilliant. The songs sound very retro in many ways and reminiscent of the 90’s. The build up throughout the verses to the chorus’ work really well and this is a song I’m still playing now. The run of songs by Duke Dumont over the last couple of years has been ridiculously strong and the album is great too. Therapy debuted at Number 1 on my chart and went on to spend 22 weeks on the top 40 including 11 weeks in the top 10. I should say there is a massive gap between my top 6 and the rest of the top 10 and only 17 points separating 6th to 1st place.
