Biography

Wes Nelson

22-year-old Staffordshire born Wes Nelson has just released his brand new single, See Nobody. A glossy, confident, effortlessly charming track that is centered around a ridiculously melodic hook, written by Wes and produced by Ayo Beatz [Fredo, Dutchavelli, Young M.A]. Featuring rap star Hardy Caprio, the super smooth Afrobeat-meets-R&B single brilliantly showcases Wes’s considerable talents as a vocalist and songwriter. - Spotify

Hardy Caprio

Croydon rapper Hardy Caprio (born Hardy Tayyib-Bah) gained early recognition for his work when he was nominated for the Get Rated award at its inaugural ceremony (its aim is to celebrate new talent). Caprio grew up in Croydon, South London, as did grime star Stormzy, but he went to school in Bromley, a more well-off area of South London. His dual existence showed him that the drama he experienced in Croydon could be avoided. He began putting out his own music, which resulted in the EPs Hardy Season and The Hollywood EP.

His vital moment came with 2017 single "Unsigned," landing at #45 on the U.K. charts and garning tens of milions of streams online. Pushing into 2018 with a run of singles, the rapper found notable success with March's "Rapper" (charting at #34) and July's "Best Life," the latter peaking at #26 with its summery afroswing influences. With his name firmly established in the U.K. scene, Tayyib-Bah moved from strength to strength in 2019. Kicking off the year with "Unsigned" (charting at #70) the rapper soon found his biggest hit to date with the DigDat-assisted "Guten Tag": quickly becoming a staple on U.K. playlists, the back-to-back braggadocio landed at #18 on the U.K. singles chart. A further collection of singles - including reflective piano-ballad "9 Months" and a series of collaborations with artists from SL to T Mulla - saw the rapper through to mid-2020, ahead of the release of his debut mixtape. Titled With My Eyes Closed, the tape featured key tracks like "Guten Tag" and "Best Life," alongside collaborations with One Acen, Wretch 32, and Maleek Berry. - Apple Music

Biography

Justin Bieber

There’s a moment in a 2020 interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe where Justin Bieber begins—quietly, hesitantly—to cry. “It was hard for me being that young and being in the industry, and not knowing where to turn, and everyone telling me they love me, and just turning their back on you in a second,” Bieber says, each clause kicking up memories like dust. The point isn’t to weep with or for him—he had more dreams come true in his first 25 years than most people manage in a lifetime. But he’s also one of the few pop stars of his generation to have truly grown up in public, weathering the cable newsification of celebrity culture in the internet era while still trying to develop as both an artist and a person. Even early on, you could tell he had his eye on the future, balancing a doe-eyed wholesomeness with earnest attempts at hip-hop and R&B, material that suited him as a kid with material that reflected his growth into adolescence and adulthood. Some teen-pop singers end up trapped in amber; Justin Bieber has, knocks and all, kept swimming.

Born in London, Ontario, in 1994, Bieber was famously discovered when his future manager, Scooter Braun, stumbled on some performance videos that Bieber’s mom had uploaded to YouTube to share with family and friends. Braun, who understood not only Bieber’s appeal but the potential of the internet, encouraged him to keep making videos and keep the equipment cheap—an approach that not only helped Bieber’s growing fanbase to understand that he was still just a kid like them, but drafted a new blueprint for how artists could reach audiences in the digital era. With the exception of a voice change around 2011, 2009’s My World, 2010's My World 2.0 and 2012's Believe are more or less of a piece: the sound of a boy trying to stick the landing into puberty. Released in 2015, Purpose showed Bieber developing a more thoughtful connection to his material, including collaborations with vanguard pop producers like Diplo, Skrillex and benny blanco. After a five-year break during which Bieber underwent significant personal changes—including a detox from touring life, a diagnosis of Lyme disease and a epiphanic marriage to Hailey Baldwin—he came back with 2020’s Changes. “People have been putting me on a pedestal,” Bieber told Apple Music. ""I didn’t ask for that. Obviously I love making music, but there are a lot of people that love making music and they’re not in the position that I’m in. I’m just trying to steward that wisely, steward my relationship wisely. I want people to take a look at my story—hopefully, my words can make a difference.” - Apple Music

benny blanco

Before Benny Blanco was a name people put their chips on, the man born Benjamin Levin (in Reston, Virginia, in 1988) used to pretend to be JAY-Z’s lawyer to get label execs on the phone. It didn’t work, but it was a sign nevertheless: Here was someone with the hustle and ingenuity to make things happen. Raised in the suburbs of Washington, D.C., Blanco started making hip-hop beats as a teenager, messaging artists on MySpace from his school library and sleeping in McDonald’s while trying to land meetings on weekend trips to New York. His work—in particular a hyperbolically sleazy collaboration with party rapper Spank Rock called Bangers & Cash—caught the ear of industry powerhouses including songwriter-producer Dr. Luke (Katy Perry, Kesha, Britney Spears), who enlisted Blanco as an apprentice.

From there, he became one of the most bulletproof forces in modern pop, writing for and producing artists from Ed Sheeran (“Don’t”) to Kanye West, Ty Dolla $ign to Sia, The Weeknd to Maroon 5 (“Moves Like Jagger,” “Payphone”)—resulting in a résumé that effortlessly yoked together the vanguards of mainstream pop, hip-hop, and R&B. In 2018, Blanco stepped out as an artist in his own right, releasing his guest-heavy debut LP, FRIENDS KEEP SECRETS—an ongoing release that he plans to continue to add songs to over time, and a rare, progressive turn for someone so well established behind the scenes. “I’ve been doing this for 12 years,” he told Apple Music. “After that long, it’s good to switch it up.” - Apple Music

I don't really agree with the logic that if it leaves the top 100 and re-enters the chart, it is new entry ...
I can't decide if this or Holy is worse, at least Anyone is a bit of a step up
ew :puke2: lonely is horrific

Tea, one of the worst songs of last year.

Thank god for "Anyone" being back on form after every single he released last year being his worst ever.

too bad Champagne Problems missed, much better than all the ones we've heard so far,

especially Lonely, ouch, Bieber moaning is unbearable, mutes computer

I don't really agree with the logic that if it leaves the top 100 and re-enters the chart, it is new entry ...

It's literally listed as "NEW" on the information Scott will receive, it's an OCC thing.

I don't really agree with the logic that if it leaves the top 100 and re-enters the chart, it is new entry ...

Biography

Born Tijs Michiel Verwest in the small Dutch city of Breda in 1969, Tiësto went on to become more than just a world-famous electronic musician—he largely created the model for a powerhouse DJ in the 21st century. He got his start in the mid-’80s, when the skeletal sounds of Belgian new beat ruled Holland’s clubs, but it was trance—sleeker and more emotive—that moved him. His first proper DJ mix , 1997’s Magik One (First Flight), showcases his signature style in dreamy synth melodies drawn out above tough but streamlined drum grooves. As trance’s foremost ambassador, he pioneered stadium raving with solo DJ concerts in sports arenas; in 2004, he played for millions at the Summer Olympics opening ceremony in Athens. And his Club Life weekly radio show and mix series, one of trance’s premier global platforms, became synonymous with the genre itself. But you don’t become the world’s No. 1 DJ by sitting still. By 2011’s Club Life: Volume One Las Vegas, Tiësto was following through on a shift that had begun with his 2009 album, Kaleidoscope, a blend of high-energy trance and airy pop melodies that heralded the next big rave revolution: EDM. With 2014’s A Town Called Paradise, he made good on EDM’s anything-goes promise with a collection encompassing soaring toplines, massive drops, and other big-room thrills without turning his back on the aching melodies that made his name. As the decade drew to a close, playful collabs with a new generation of producers who had come up in his wake—The Chainsmokers, Oliver Heldens, DJ Snake, Hardwell—only served to confirm his versatility and cement his legacy. - Apple Music
