April 26, 20214 yr I'm struggling to see Carmichael as 'H'...it doesn't square with any of how her character has been written so far and it just feels too obvious to where the writing has been dragging us in the last episode. She may just be out to get Ted (we saw how determined she was to take Ted down last season) / on a power trip this season to assert her new authority. It doesn't seem outside the realms of possibility that Thurwell is still alive and could be 'H' too. Why would they sign up James Nesbitt and have him never appear in a single scene  Unless Jed is just trolling us all. I think it would be jumping the shark if it was any of the main three. Kate was the one who was questioning Cotton on his deathbed to get answers. For sure! Kate has always been the 'least bent' of the main 3 AC-12 officers. It would be a bizarre final twist that would make no sense in the development of her character. Her odd behaviour can easily be explained by her trying to get close to Jo this series - there's nothing more to it surely?

As they are run by the same production company, I could see it being a trolling.
May 1, 20214 yr Randomly occurred to me that we don't know much about Kate's ex who has been mentioned throughout all the series, not sure if that bares any relevance to anything or not.
May 2, 20214 yr My plan of masterfully timing my binge-watch of all of this to conclude before the final has succeeded! *. I'm glad I did as I couldn't have lived with these cliffhangers x So much to say, but generally, this series has been a massive improvement on last season (which spent way too much time trying to make Hastings look guilty when we all knew he wasn't and the big reveals weren't so big for me at least), not quite up there with S3 & 4 which I simply couldn't stop watching, but for a sixth season to still be compulsive viewing is pretty good going. If this really is the final episode (I do like that he's kept that a secret), then they seriously need to unmask H or it's just the same beats next time, it's really tough to know what's gonna happen. Osbourne is almost certainly bent and Carmichael I'm 50/50 on (glad to see her back as she is probably the best villain, that smug demeanour I just can't), personally, I agree with the theory that Thirwell may not be dead, that was added in so late and we never properly saw his face and James Nesbitt just feels like a face that wouldn't be wasted! I don't really suspect any of the main three, though with Steve's health and Hastings loans, I can't see it being an entirely happy ending for them whatever happens :( I do love how close to real life and how much anti-corruption is suppressed by those higher, coincidental with the news and airdate maybe, but very relevant and that's why I've found it so watchable recently. I love that it's inspired by real life cases, there'd certainly be more than enough material for another series, corruption will never go away after all!
May 2, 20214 yr They are all on twitter this afternoon putting out messages saying thanks for 6 wonderful seasons. Must be the last ever episode!
May 2, 20214 yr Author Clearly setting up for the next series, but that was quite a lackluster finale! Kinda how I felt with the ending of series 2, setting up series 3.
May 2, 20214 yr That would be a really poor ending if indeed it is the ending. I think it leaves it open for another series or possibly a film. But that's a terrible ending if it is definitive.
May 2, 20214 yr Author Nah there's no way it'll be the end I don't think, there were too many hints towards Carmichael in the closing scene, and that "AC-12 has never been weaker" caption
May 2, 20214 yr I think my thoughts on that episode depend on whether we get another series or not. I think there's still more to explore and I don't feel completely satisfied, and I'd be gutted if that's how it actually finished for good. If we get a follow-up then I'll appreciate it as a great episode and it definitely had twists and turns, but I'd rather it wasn't the ultimate conclusion...
May 2, 20214 yr I’m literally just waiting on the announcement of Series 7 because I’m pretty underwhelmed if that is the final ever episode! I’m expecting it to happen but I’m slightly doubting it because I thought they were going to announce it straight after... I feel there’s still so many questions and it’s not even as though we got proper closure on the trio. I just can’t envisage Buckells being the last one there behind it all, who everyone was scared of 😂 He didn’t even give off H vibes in the interview. He acted as if the OCG(s) were getting weaker as people were found out/left but they’ve seemed just as strong over the past two series, if not stronger! There’s definately more to it!!
May 2, 20214 yr It definitely wasn’t the most exciting episode but it made sense for it being Buckels especially as he has been in the show since the beginning. I’m a bit 50/50 about wether I think there will be another season. Seems like it was tied up so it could be left for good but they could easily make more if they want.
May 2, 20214 yr Well that was shite. There had better be another season coz that’s the most I’ve been let down by a prospective series finale since Will & Grace Season 8
May 2, 20214 yr Author Just occurred to me that nothing was really resolved with Philip Osborne either!
May 2, 20214 yr I thought it made sense to be a quiet enough ending, woulda been stupid if Buckles had have called for OCG help in that last interview as that’s been done twice now. Plus the chief constable wasn’t really in the nitty gritty of the series just the odd tv speech in the background so didn’t make sense to bring him in and include him but it was insinuated that corruption goes to the highest level and he was involved early on and got over promoted. So leaves it open for a new series or not! Edited May 2, 20214 yr by steve201
