Posted December 3, 200618 yr How many weeks will Take That's album be at number one and how many copies will their new album sell? Consider the following: The album only just scraped into number one last week with 169,000 copies. This could bode badly or well. After a record speed sell-out stadium tour in the Summer And chart-topping Patience single. December TV, Radio and Magazine Publicity Blitz Most notably on TV: Take That documentary repeated on ITV last Friday. An audience with Take That on ITV straight after X-factor results. Take that Ultimate Tour on ITV2 repeated various times. T4 on Channel 4 today. Record of the Year Show with Patience likely to do well. X-factor Final performance Patience at number one for second week ensuring airplay remains high. TV advertising for the Ultimate collection and Beautiful World New Gary Barlow autobiography a best seller (currently 35 on Amazon) Little competition from Robbie Williams (who has frequently dominated album sales on run up to Christmas) Will Take That beat off the competition? Are there enough old and new fans for this album to see a Christmas gift rush like Oasis or the Beatles? Edited December 3, 200618 yr by Bond Bug
December 3, 200618 yr Well, 170k is hardly scraping to Number 1  Its a very competitive time of year, and Il Divo have sold a huge amount for a number 2 album. Wuth ongoing publicity, I can see TT being number 1 in the lead up to Christmas. The show last night will have given them a boost and will reflect in sales next week.
December 3, 200618 yr They look stable for the Xmas #1 in the album chart, I reckon they still be #1 in the single chart next week, with the same sales as todays, or thereabouts
December 3, 200618 yr Their album sales are bound to go up next week after the Audience With, and the second single getting talked about.
December 4, 200618 yr oasis only sold 14k less then Take that, and it was oasis 2nd week of sales. Though i think Take that may hold #1 this week, but they may drop after that and make way for Oasis. this week i reckon #1 Take that #2 Oasis (up 1) #3 Il divo (down1) #4 westlife #5Beatles. December 4, 200618 yr Quite good come back album sales for Take That. I think the album will continue to sell well over the next few weeks selling over double platinum status but it might not necessarily occupy the top slot every week. I think the single will be no1 for another week and then fall.
December 4, 200618 yr i think take that will hold number 1 again next week as an audience with take that should benefit sales for the coming week,i can also see there ultimate collection climbing high enough also, they have a chance of getting the x mas number 1 album although they prob will be knocked of by number 1 and climb back up again
December 4, 200618 yr this week coming will see the proper start of the gift-buying season. Take That should be one of the acts who will benefit from this. I'd be surprised if sales dropped too much, and they should take off again as Christmas gets closer - perhaps some people are holding back buying the album as their partners are probably buying it for them as a Christmas present.
December 4, 200618 yr I expected much higher sales. It will definatly be top 10 albums of the year though, over 5 million watched their 'Audience with' show so they will probebly remain #1 in both charts next week.

Look at All Saints comeback. The single was well received & bought, but the album flopped (UK#40) as they no longer had a fanatical fan base and the album received lukewarm reviews at best. With Take That, their tour did well because of the nostalgia factor, and the fact that (mainly thanks to Gary Barlow's songwriting) they do possess a lot of good songs in their back catalogue. The single did well, because it was a great song, but I suspect the only reason the album sold so many copies in the first week, was largely due to a host of positive reviews for the album in the media & music press.

To be fair Take that did release a greatest hits last year. So no doubt that got the bandwagon rolling again. Along with touring etc. All saints haven't released an album for more than what 6years. So it was always gonna be hard for all saints, they should have released 2 singles before the album came out. Edited December 4, 200618 yr by Jez
December 4, 200618 yr They may sell more than Robbie but no more than Westlife and Oasis. In total I recken they will definatly outsell Westlife but not Oasis. The reason I was expecting higher sales for TT is due to the insane amount of promo they have been doing, they're has been so much hype surrounding their big 10 year comback etc...
December 4, 200618 yr I think they should of waited till after 2006, They've had a good start but the album sales are gonna bomb in like the end of year charts
December 4, 200618 yr I mean the way people have gone on about take that sales, is like it has the biggest oppening of the year. I for one expected a bit more than 169k first week i was thinking 200k+ first week. Like someone said if they released their album the week it was (oasis, westlife the beatles,) they would have only made #4!.
December 4, 200618 yr part of last weeks high sales was fans of each group were out in droves buying albums hoping there own faves would get the number 1,if anything take that would prob have sold even more last week
