Especially as people on here were calling this a flop after the first day!
I remember this flopped in week one because it didn’t sell 300k!

Especially as people on here were calling this a flop after the first day!

No one with a brain ever thought this...

Some of the posts on here would suggest otherwise….

In all seriousness shows how hard it is to maintain 100k plus sales for more than one week these days with streaming dominating!

This is definitely a contender for biggest seller of the decade now. It’s still got a long way to go to overtake Blinding Lights but it will be 2nd on the decade list within the next couple of months.

It bewilders me that it's still Top 20 on Spotify / in the official chart, after all these months. I don't think it's anything special. This isn't me being in the anti Ed Sheeran brigade, but I literally just can't hear what it is about this song that has the public so obsessed and unable to let go of it.

It did underperform in its opening days, and that was with a huge Spotify push, but the response was underwhelming during the first days

it was like no one really cared about his comeback, was not like Adele or even Harry Styles

then the label sent a bigger check and got the record for biggest Spotify support ever and then did ok-ish numbers

although never did nothing spectacular

sure the song is decent and has past the test of time but first week was an underperformance that eventually got corrected

but Im sure the label did worry at the easy stages of the campaign, the interest was not there

and the massive fanbase either... and that showed later when the album was released and also underperformed despite the huge hits and he support and promo

I think your living in a warped different reality and letting your hatred of Ed Sheeran get in the way of the facts here. He increased sales and did over 100k for 3-4 weeks running. And the album was released in November went to no1 and is still in the top 10 6 months later. The fact the song didn’t get streamed 3 million times in day one doesn’t really matter when the outcome shows the opposite. The fact Ed never really went away probably lent to the fact he didn’t explode upon release.

I just don't get it.

He has a nice tone (I actually like his part on Bam Bam) and has some nice melodies here and there and I wouldn't begrudge him for having success if it wasn't so....extreme? Like, a couple of number 1's? Sure. TWELVE of them, though? Nah.

So many artists with more talent and creativity (and likeability) work their asses off to scrape into the top 40 and this guy writes a song in 15 minutes while making breakfast and goes straight to number 1 for months.

I just don't get it.

13 no1s

13 no1s

Sing, Thinking Out Loud, Shape Of You, Perfect, I Don’t Care, Beautiful People, Own It, Take Me Back To London, the Elton John collab, the Ladbaby one, Shivers and Bad Habits.

Sounds like I’m missing one and I don’t wanna cheat by looking at Wiki…
