Posted April 5, 200620 yr The physical release of Gnarls Barkley’s Crazy (Warner Bros) will ensure the single remains at the summit of the single chart this weekend, after registering almost 50,000 over-the-counter sales yesterday. Retail reports suggest the single, which famously reached number one last week based solely on digital sales, has already trumped last week’s sales total after just one day’s physical sales. It is outselling the rest of the top 15 combined, and is keeping Mary J Blige & U2’s One (Geffen), which itself climbs from number 19, from number one. The Zutons’ Why Won’t You Give Me Your Love (Deltasonic) heads a brace of new entries from Michael Jackson (Epic), Franz Ferdinand (Domino), Belle & Sebastian (Rough Trade), The Charlatans (Creole) and Larrikin Love (Infectious). The albums chart enters a new phase this weekend, with legal downloads counting towards eventual chart placings for the first time. This ruling is unlikely to stop Morrissey scoring his first number album since 1994’s Vauxhall And I, with new effort Ringleader Of The Tormentors (Attack) beating a host of Top 40 debuts from Pink (LaFace), The Flaming Lips (Warner Bros), Stereophonics (V2), Lacuna Coil (Century Media) and Secret Machines (Reprise). Massive Attack’s Collected looks set to remain at number two, while The Kooks’ Inside In, Inside Out is experiencing a 58% sales increase that will see it rise within the Top Ten. Lower down the chart, Gorillaz’ eponymous album has rebounded back into the Top 20, where it sold just one copy less than current album Demon Days yesterday.
