I do think there will be a book to celebrate his career to date , there definitely a hint of it in that video.

 

Surely Jonny has to be in Betterman otherwise it would not be authentic , If it's not in the movie then it as to be in the documentary series where he says nothing is hidden . I am actually expecting the series to be of more in-depth detail than the movie as Netflix said they has been given footage from all over the years of Robbie's career. He has always had a camera on him following him around so we should see some interesting footage there. He has said recently in several interviews that he had sent scripts of the movie to people that are going to feature in it to see if they were ok with it.

Could we see another Wagatha Christie in the pipeline . Rob has been threatened with court action so many times. I am sure the Legal Eagles are very busy .

Robbie Williams says he has been forced to remove "four villains" from a biopic on his life - for legal reasons. The Angels singer is set to release a film based on his life. You tell all of these stories and then legally you have to pass them to see if lots of people will sue you. “So I sent the script off to lots of people to see if they would sue me — and it turns out they would.” He added: “At the start of this movie there were at least five villains. “There were at least five a**holes in the script. And now because of legal reasons there is only one a**hole in the movie and you are looking at him.”

 

The Greatest Showman's Michael Gracey will direct. Robbie said “Michael directed a little movie you might know, called The Greatest Showman. “He once came to my house and said, “I want to pitch you something’. He said, ‘Look, I have got this film and it is about an entertainer. It’s about P.T Barnum, the greatest entertainer of all time’. He showed me the script for the movie and he talked all the way through it.

 

“I thought, ‘I know what is coming,’ and he played me the songs. They are amazing, right? At the end of it he said, ‘I need you to do me a favour? Will you phone Hugh Jackman and ask him to do it please?’

 

 

“That’s a true f***ing story. Just think what could have been.”

Yes he said all this again tonight -he also said the other four TT lads couldn't back him up in his opinion of NMS so he can't say what he wanted to say because of fear of litigation. So no idea how they're going to address that in the movie because it's a pretty big part of the story isn't it. I guess there are lots of different versions of the truth.

 

I think GB is quite close to NMS isn't he.

In the past I also read that Gary is close still to NMS. Not a surprise as he had no bad experiences as far as we know. Interesting that Rob and Gary could make up with each other despite of the different experiences with NMS. I remember that I read during the Progress time that Jason was the only other one who suffered.

That horse has bolted tbh , this is what happened back in 2007 when Robbie tried to write about it in Rudebox ( The 90's ) & had to remove the lyrics & ended up paying damages as well as apologising to NMS . It's a wasted journey now as tbh nobody wants to end up in court so I can understand why he would not get backing from the other guys in the band

The exposure that he will get from the movie will be huge especially if it is shown in the US where it sounds like it will be, an audience where many may have never heard of him or his songs before

 

It's hard to know when it will be released as a lot of the film festivals are spread throughout the year . Will it actually be next year

Musician Biopics Must Evolve to Keep Rocking On

 

Musician biopics look like they're here to stay, but there are several things these movies need to do to avoid creative stagnation.

 

At the start of 2021, news broke that a biopic on the singer Robbie Williams would be going in a bit of an unorthodox route compared to other musician biopics. In this film, the singer would be portrayed, at least to some degree, by a CGI monkey, a detail the real Williams has not denied in recent interviews about the movie. The idea of making a musician biopic with an extremely expensive CGI character despite the fact that these movies, unless they’re about Freddie Mercury, rarely cross the $300 million threshold worldwide…that’s insane. It’s also why we need to see more bold creative swings like that.

 

Who knows if this Williams biopic, reportedly titled Better Man, will be any good. But the decision to heavily feature a CGI monkey as a stand-in for the central singer is such a preposterous idea that you can’t help but admire it. That’s not a normal thing for a musician biopic to do and that’s why more entries in this genre should be taking a cue from this decision. We don’t necessarily need CGI primates running around all these biopics (though I’m not say we don’t need that either), but we should see more of these movies to take unexpected creative chances. The musician biopic has delivered the occasional Rocketman and Elvis in recent years, but it’s otherwise been mired in punchlines about its predictability. Daring to embrace elements as outrageous as CGI monkeys more often could be the start of ensuring the next wave of musician biopics avoids the sour notes of the past
