March 15, 20214 yr Author It's basically a sequel to Cleopatra - even down to a lyrical reference! I mean I'm not really complaining.
March 15, 20214 yr This is like the 90s, when a dance band had a huge hit with their debut single and the follow up was basically the same with slightly different lyrics and the parts moved around a bit. Edited March 15, 20214 yr by Colm
March 15, 20214 yr Ugh I love this. I'm 110% sure she'll deliver a fire performance in Rotterdam. Can we just get her every year with a new legendary lady in the forefront? 2022: Joan of Arc 2023: Rosa Parks 2024: Princess Diana 2025: Efendi ?? Edited March 15, 20214 yr by diva thin muffin
March 15, 20214 yr f*** yeah. I really can forgive the Ctrl+C/V she did there with Cleopatra since she never managed to show that one off anyway. Straight to the top of my rankings <3
March 15, 20214 yr Thanks to Efendi, this is in my head all mornig: "Iiiii'mmmm crufiiifieeeddddddd" I hope the short sample is allowed to stay in!
March 15, 20214 yr I'm not mad at this one being so blatanly a rip-off of Cleopatra! Particularly as that never got to see the light of the Eurovision stage, or any entry for that matter! All the fun elements are in there and it feels like a while (in my mind) since we've had a proper ethno-bop in Eurovision so I'm looking forward to this and all its staging!
March 15, 20214 yr There is one significant difference for me. The only part of Cleopatra I liked was the pre-chorus There was no intervention I was lost, falling out with myself and that part was 10/10. She didn't bother with that this time so, I'm sorry. Zero points. Edited March 15, 20214 yr by Colm
March 15, 20214 yr This is SO Cleopatra but I don't begrudge any of the returning artists going for a similar vibe, whether I like it (this) or not (Dadi). This is a banger anyway, we love an ethno-bop *.* Hovering around my top 5 currently I'd say but I think I may well have it 3rd before long, I can't see it touching Italy and San Marino but we'll see.
March 15, 20214 yr The vibe of these lyrics is very "snatch game contestant has learned exactly one fact about this celebrity and drops that fact in every time" but I cannot deny a banger when I hear one!
March 15, 20214 yr I do wish they had put like, any effort into the lyrics for this song. It's still a banger, but it's hilarious how quickly the pretense of having a narrative is abandoned entirely here.
March 23, 20214 yr I don't understand how this is not everyone's favourite! I've had it on repeat since listening to it last week, I find it infectious, addictive and a total bop. I didn't hear anything from last year so I get that maybe that's why it sounds so fresh for me, but still, I feel like I'm the only one stannig this song and that's so weird. Edited March 23, 20214 yr by Hayzayy
March 23, 20214 yr I think the muted response to this SLAYAGE is the fact it was frankly EXPECTED since last year's song was such a smash.
March 23, 20214 yr It's awful. There's no redeeming features. At least Cleopatra had a10/10 solid gold pre-chorus.
March 23, 20214 yr I loved it at first bc of anticipation but now it keeps doing the very opposite of being a growing, it's not even in my top 10 rn  The more you listen to it, the more you realise there's nothing there, or nothing that wasn't done better in Cleopatra, then she plugs up half the song with "ma ma ma mata hari". Idk I'd just say it's kinda lazy to be honest, not bad, I do enjoy it, but you just think "this could be Cleopatra but it's not :("
March 23, 20214 yr Agreed that it's probably not got so much replay value as it's a carbon copy of a stronger song, but with some slick Azeri staging I think this will do great on first impression and most the audience won't have heard Cleopatra previously so will get all the good bits from that thrown in their face for the first time.
March 23, 20214 yr With a few more listens I think this is ok - but is very uninspired. I can see myself not liking it with a few more listens

Cleopatra was solid but even that wasn't one of my major faves of last year, but still it was so much better than this. Out of all the female bangers this year, I'd say this is my least favourite.
