First time since sour release we’ve only had two songs top 20 from Olivia! Interested to see what new song charts

UK vinyl variants, released 20th August:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Standard-Vinyl-VIN.../dp/B092HCV2N7/ Standard Black

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B092HJK31C/ Dark Violet

https://store.hmv.com/store/music/vinyl/sour-(2) Crystal Fuchsia

https://www.roughtrade.com/gb/olivia-rodrigo/sour/lp-plus Magenta (Pre-order has sold out)

https://shopuk.oliviarodrigo.com/*/*/SOUR-C...nyl/6XLS0000000 Crystal Vellum

I think I'm most drawn to the Amazon "dark violet" version! *Pre-orders it*. The vinyl sales will contribute to the album's 14th week in the chart.

Sour #1 in midweeks

Favourite crime #22, stream so it goes top 20 x

Tbh it's still probably my 2nd favourite album track but the immediate wow factor of 'brutal' has actually worn off disappointingly quickly for me oops. 'favorite crime' taking over as my favourite album track, sounds like it could have been well at home on one of Taylor's last two albums x (which kind of makes it feel a little baffling to look back on Sam literally ranking it as the worst song on the album oops). I feel like the songwriting on it is probably the most mature of any of the songs on the album - not that there's anything wrong with it but on most of the other songs it's pretty obvious that they were written by a teenager who's pretty new to songwriting, just makes 'favorite crime' stand out that little bit more.

tl;dr still out here shilling for more 'favorite crime' appreciation xx

I'm not a fan as everyone knows but 'favorite crime' was definitely the best of the album tracks. Like Bre says, it sounds mature and a bit 'folklore'-ish.

I'm still totally baffled by her having this astronomical success though. I don't know anyone in real life who likes her

Well, I know a LOT of people irl who do like her (my niece - who is 11 - and her friends being the main people). Music is always targeted predominantly at that age group. Especially acts like Olivia.

She also has a surprisingly big adult fanbase too (and I know a fair few adults who like her too). Just look at Tik Tok. The amount of videos on her songs with 20+ year olds really into her music and recreating heartbreak moments etc.. She's the first major superstar for the new generation imo.

I enjoyed hearing favorite crime in the chart show today. I've just added the album to my play queue as I've really enjoyed most of the tracks I've heard from it.
This is still remaining at #2 in USA despite being ahead on everything but sales :cheeseblock:

This cassette actually has alternate artwork, which isn't shown on the above page!

I also forgot to say I gave this album a listen when it was out to see what the hype was about.

She's actually really quite talented and she's good at what she's doing. I find a lot of the content a bit hard to relate to as a teenager singing about heartbreak, and although I had lumped her in the same bracket as being one of those annoying "cursive" singers like Billie Eyelash/Mimi Webb/Tate McRae etc. she's shown real versatility in her voice compared to what I expected based on the singles I heard beforehand (obviously 'Brutal' is the absolute standout)

I see a lot of potential in her to grow as an artist from here, so I'm looking forward to seeing what she does next!

Her new insta post/story is back to suggesting brutal could be the next single. Unsure tho due to the radio push traitor seemed to be starting
Quite tempted to get that - I love the alternate artwork
