June 10, 20214 yr very into 'Ancient Dreams' right now, it is one of the best she's done for a long time. Â There's a lot of potentially good sounds and lyrics on 'Venus Fly Trap', but early days with that one yet.

I'm also becoming savvy to celebrities pretending their lives are the same as ours and I think it would just be nice to see them enjoy the success they've earned. Â I appreciate I'm probably coming as this at a totally difference perspective to everyone else on this site. :lol:
June 10, 20214 yr Venus Fly Trap and Ancient Dreams really have been a return to form for me, I’m addicted to them both. Really feels like the most natural progression from Froot. Both so much fun, with an incredibly fun video for Venus Fly Trap to match. Can’t believe the album is tomorrow, so hyped!
June 11, 20214 yr This whole album is a big miss for me. Marina is all about the melodies and that's why she can get away with the clunky lyrics. But this album doesn't have any of the usual clever or dreamy melodies and it makes the dodgy lyrics stick out like a sore thumb. The only song that comes close to her previous output is Flowers.

June 16, 20214 yr I gave this album a second listen and actually really like it! I think I was just hungover and not in the mood when I gave it a spin on Sunday. It's a definite improvement on Love + Fear, a few clunky lyrics here and there admittedly but that's definitely her forte and it seems like she's at least got that fire in her belly again. A strong overall album, and doesn't feel like it goes on too long either. I do think it's bit ballad-heavy towards the end though, they could do with being spread out a bit.  Probably still my 4th favourite Marina album behind the first 3, but consider me back on board the Marina train!

June 22, 20214 yr A real strong return to form for me, after Love and Fear existed. I’d have liked a couple more songs to so we could have a couple more upbeat ones but I think that maybe more due to the rollout of the campaign - we essentially got 4/5 of the upbeat ones pre-album. Ancient Dreams and Venus Flu Trap are amongst her very best though, absolutely addicted :wub: I didn’t realise she and Jack had split which is really sad, and brings a lot of meaning to those slower songs. :( 10 Ancient Dreams In A Modern Land 11 Venus Fly Trap 08 Man's World 07 Purge The Poison 10 Highly Emotional People 09 New America 07 Pandora's Box 08 I Love You But I Love Me More 08 Flowers 09 Goodbye
