Giuseppe Verdi / Dam Swindle - Coffee in the Morning

o9yoiLC.jpg

The leading Italian composer of the 19th Century following on from his contemporaries, Rigoletto, Il Trovatore, Otello, Requiem Mass, you name it. He has gone for a saxophone this time under the assistance of J00ps, probably named after what you need after a morning of work. It sadly hasn't quite caught on this time.

It seems all the flops left it to the last minute didn't they? x J00ps isn't doing too well, but man that scoreboard just gets tighter we now have a tie for 2nd with the winner only one point ahead, early leader Nils Frahm is slightly dropping away, but can it claw it back, and why haven't we heard from any of them yet?

Next up...Antonio Vivaldi

An interesting entry from Jupiter, shame it hasn't done better (although it's yet another of my commiserations so I won't be helping oops)

Antonio Vivaldi / Jeff van Dyck - Medieval Total War Soundtrack: Arab Battle 1

Antonio Vivaldi left a decisive mark on the form of the concerto and the style of late Baroque instrumental music and was particularly skilled with a violin, his Four Seasons suite can still be heard worldwide and is one of the most popular classical music pieces. Sadly, moving into Arab war music wasn't the wisest advice from TheSnake

Poor Snake, although I'm not sure what you expected with a sub-two minute song with no real build, at least you got a cool composer, Fields of Forever looks poised to be our first to pass 100, but it's certainly not alone in that, it's the only contender that gets significant points with others giving the stragglers a chance to catch up.

Next...Camille Saint-Saëns

Camille Saint-Saëns / Venetian Snares - Második Galamb

Camille Saint-Saëns was another Frenchman known for his symphonic poems and for the renowned opera, Samson and Delilah. He was notable for his pioneering efforts on behalf of French music, and he was a gifted pianist and organist as well as a writer of criticism, poetry, essays, and plays. God knows what kind of story he wanted to tell with his intense, breakcore-classical combination recommended by ✖ leww ✖, maybe a fear of pigeons, but it's a notable one if clearly divisive.

Thankfully, Leww does not get a deduction here, was it worth it? Well, maybe his entry was a bit too niche xx But just like that, we have a new leader as for the first time, Mike Foyle takes the lead. It's a pretty crucial time, with just five votes left.

Let's get the one flop out the way...next, Joseph Haydn

The top entries being revealed right at the end then, very interested to see who sent them!
And that was the second one where I could guess who it was immediately from the artist alone  I'm always up for hearing more stuff from Venetian Snares though and this was an excellent choice

Joseph Haydn / Jacoo - The Moments We Shared…I Miss Them

Starting as a court musician, Joseph Haydn was one of the most important composers in development of the Classical style in music during the 18th century. He helped establish the forms and styles for the string quartet and the symphony as well as the piano trio for chamber music. He has used his marvellous piano skills to represent your esteemed host, Chez Wombat tonight~ B-)

Big thank you to all who gave me points with this, I've had it as a potential for something since 2015 or so when I discovered loads of piano instrumentals, I'm pleased to be a mid-table straggler.

Ooh look at that, my top 4 are THE top 4, WHAT???? Now I voted 2nd so no foul play here, but I couldn't let this go unnoticed by doing a straight order of receipt vote, and you may have now noticed (well, Bre) that I've purposefully left the current top 4 until the end with my votes in between so it all comes down to how much they give each other, this will hopefully get some tension going for those still awake xx They were all dominating throughout, now let's see which one can hold on...

First up, our first leader of the night...Robert Schumann

I see you making this end up as just a competition of who can shoot themself in the foot the least and I do not appreciate it xx

(I do appreciate that I am in the top 4 though as finishing anywhere up there would be a new peak for me! Though watch me end up dropping back down to 5th or something anyway xx)

((and I also appreciate your entry, lovely stuff again, some of those piano entries this month were rather on point x))

Another 12 for Fields of Forever :cheeseblock:

I'm a bit surprised Love Theme Dusk seems to be so close though, I much preferred the 3 other trance entries to it (which were my top 3!)

Camille Saint-Saëns *.* represented Jadakissnia once in Worldvision over in BJSC <3

Thanks Chez! Always a great feeling to get points from the hosts ^_^

Robert Schumann / Nils Frahm - Says

A German Romantic composer who had a sadly short life, he is particularly known for his piano music, songs (lieder), and orchestral music. Many of his best-known piano pieces were written for his wife, the pianist Clara Schumann. Aww, under the advice of Bré, he has composed something slowly building and truly mesmerising and atmospheric in it's pay off, could it go all the way?

And we start suitably tight as we have a joint leader between Stravinsky and Schubert, with Cosmic Creeper inches behind. Bre is now ten points away, but is still very much in with a shout. Sorry for delaying your reveal, but thanks for keeping this thread alive :kink:

Let's see how one of those leaders fares, time for Franz Schubert

And I oop at voting for all of the other songs that were ahead of me xx (at least the number of points I gave them was inversely correlated with how far ahead of me they were...)

also hoping for Lucine Fyelon to make a late run for the top 5 pls x
