I dont think many people outside the fanbase would have said Steps have outsold the Manic street preachers in general in the Uk.

I'm surprised that Steps have sold more albums than them in the UK! :o
It does showcase how overlooked Steps are with their overall success to many people.

Not sure yet but hopefully I'll be able to find that out soon!

Would Steps ever release an album in January?

The quiet sales period, it seems like it'd be a guaranteed #1.

I guess not as their sales would be lower as a result of releasing in that time period. Something like a live or remix album is best released then.

I have updated the Steps singles and albums sections. Still need to get around to completing Claire's sections

Ooh I've got the sales information, the format breakdowns:

What the Future Holds Pt. 2

25,287 - Total (Sold 2 copies pre-release)

25,285 - Weekly Total

17,781 - CDs

3,568 - Downloads

2,406 - Vinyl

824 - Cassettes

706 - Streaming

Which means this amount of sales was added after their Thursday midweeks:

+2,624 - Overall

+1,432 - CDs

+960 - Downloads

+187 - Streaming

+26 - Vinyl

+19 - Cassettes

-----------------------------------------------------------

Compared to the Manics:

27,352 - Total (Sold 7 copies pre-release)

27,345 - Weekly Total

17,189 - CDs

6,331 - Vinyl

1,920 - Downloads

1,361 - Cassettes

544 - Streaming

Their increases after the Thursday midweeks were:

+4,354 - Overall

+3,222 - CDs

+675 - Downloads

+247 - Vinyl

+173 - Streaming

+37 - Cassettes

So in the end... it was a surge in reported CD sales that really benefited Manics.

I don’t think I’ll ever forgive BMG for not having more vinyls available and maybe cassettes too to close that gap for #1 😭😭😭😭😭

It was a bit of a shame to see that the cassette being reduced to £5 on Townsend on the last day only resulted in a literal handful of sales of it
