The streaming figures for Platinum Collection vs. studio albums is interesting. You’d assume the streaming total for a greatest hits would be bigger than those of studio albums, kinda suggests to me that the only people who stream Steps are people who are actively fans of Steps.

Me too! It's annoying how Music Week back then would round up/down the first week sales.

 

Hopefully Platinum Collection ends up being consistent with its streaming. Once the pure sales dry up this album most definitely won't hang around in the Top 200, but hopefully it'll tick away in the background to a better extent than their recent studio albums.

The Ultimate Collection passed 300,000 on 13th March 2020 and is on 338,787 as of yesterday. That's an average weekly sales figure of 305 copies.

 

Gold: Greatest Hits 1,131,168 on 28th April 2017, 1,140,938 yesterday... that's just 35 copies a week.

 

This suggests that streaming units almost always went to The Ultimate Collection, with a minimal amount to Gold. Presumably Platinum Collection will get the bulk of it from now on? :thinking:

 

The Ultimate Collection was removed from digital platforms in 2020 whereas Gold has been purchaseable and streamable in February 2020, so Gold would have been able to pick up some pure sales. Kind of surprised that it appears it didn't take over from The Ultimate Collection in receiving streaming sales.

I would like the platinum collection to achieve a gold certification which I am sure it will eventually wonder how long it will take!?

Yes. Silver is 60,000, Gold is 100,000 and Platinum is 300,000

 

What the future holds part 1 is hopefully fairly close by now as it was on 84,000 on the last update hopefully it is closer to 90k by now. I think we got some inside info that Part 2 was on 45k but I don’t know where this came from. That one needs to keep pushing for the silver cert.

 

With this being a greatest hits it should hopefully trickle sell better than the studio albums and the streams for TUC and Gold will hopefully now go to this. I just hope they don’t plummet next week now and can stick around the top 10 / 20 for a few weeks!

I knew you were but we can always live in hope, if sales that week are pretty low in general Steps could sneak into the top 20 or at least thats what im hoping, i know it will be a 1 week wonder like their last live album so the top 20 would be great for it, i wonder will they do signed versions etc or will it just be released in hope it can sell around 2 or 3 thousand by itself,

It makes me wonder whether After the Love Has Gone is over 200,000 sales. It’s already silver certified, but that was for shipments in 1999. The last sales we know for it was 167k in 2009. In August 2022, ATLHG was ahead of Scared of the Dark. But we can’t tell from that info whether ATLHG was over 200k or not.

 

Heartbeat/Tragedy still not being 2xPlat is a bit :thinking: too.

I think only When I Said Goodbye/Summer of Love has a chance, on 163,554 in June 2009! Unlike After the Love Has Gone, it was never certified at the time of its release, so we know for sure that it's still not reached 200,000.
