June 18, 20214 yr Author 7. WOMANIZER- Britney Spears (46,550) #3 No 1 in 30 weeks in 2008 Coming off the back of her worst performing single (to that point) “Break The Ice” this track took 4 weeks and an X Factor appearance to finally enable the song to dent the top 3 but it never sold weekly than its debut week when it entered at No 4. June 18, 20214 yr 136,000 sales and only No.3... Phew!! That Britney performance on X Factor is nowhere near as bad as I remember. I always thought it felt a bit like a "walk-through", but it's actually pretty good.
June 18, 20214 yr Oh I hadn't expected to see any Tears For Fears in this rundown so that's a really nice surprise, I had no idea that it had sold so well. Deserved though, it's a great and unique song.
June 18, 20214 yr Hmmmm, hasn't that already been mentioned? Maybe I've imagined it! I may we'll have missed it.
June 18, 20214 yr I guess there's a strong chance that whatever was #3 in December 1984 will feature in here due to it being up against such a big selling top 2 that year. Whatever was #3 when Will Young and Gareth Gates sold so quickly could also be a chart event that would mean a potentially high selling #3 too, but I'm assuming a lot of the biggest ones will be from December due to the generally inflated sales.
June 18, 20214 yr Everything that was #3 behind Will & Gareth had already been in the Top 2 (Hero, Whenever Wherever, Me Julie).
June 18, 20214 yr Really don't like 'Womanizer', and you could really tell she wasn't at all present during that XF performance.
June 19, 20214 yr Author 6. HOME- Westlife (42,161) #3 No 1 in 32 weeks in 2007 They had already had 14 UK chart toppers but this could easily have become their 15th. Co-written by Michael Buble it was originally a No 31 hit for him two years prior to this Westlife version, it was apparently chosen for the band by the fair hand of Mr Cowell himself. 2XhcpN1qq4g
June 19, 20214 yr Author 5.SOMETHING KINDA OOOOH- Girls Aloud (42,114) #3 No 1 in 33 weeks in 2006 Enduring an absence of two years from the top 3 Girls Aloud and Xenomania combined to give us this little gem which put the girls back in the good chart books. Heralding their first GH set “The Sound Of….” The original plan was to release a song called “Dog Without A Bone” but that was shelved when they wrote this track (though it would see the light of day as a B-side in 2007). June 19, 20214 yr Something Kinda Ooooh is one of Girls Aloud's best, it truly deserved the #1 spot :(
June 19, 20214 yr 'Something Kinda Ooooh' is my favourite Girls Aloud single. The week after the single sold 42,114 it remained at number 3 while sales dropped by almost 50% to 21,695. The album did enter the charts at number 1 on that second week though, on a sale of 84,354. That was only the third highest weekly sale for the album. In the two weeks leading up to Christmas 2006 it sold 95,785 (#8) then 129,888 (#11) on the Christmas chart.
June 19, 20214 yr That first Girls Aloud best of is a really good compilation, a very concise and strong set of pop singles
June 19, 20214 yr Something Kinda Ooooh is fantastic, definitely deserved #1! That Westlife drudge on the other hand...
June 19, 20214 yr I agree that Something Kinda Ooohh! is one of GA's best. Very instant. A deserved No.1
June 20, 20214 yr Did she sing live on XF? thats why it sounds so bad? I'm not wholly convinced she's sung "live" since 2004. 'Something Kinda Oooh' absolutely should have been a #1! They timed that really badly.
