So, rumour reaches me of a planned QUADRUPLE A-SIDE in November of 2000. The Spices were planning on Hollier/ LLLTW/ Walk of Life/ Walk of Life!!

So, basically, the record label knew they were finished come 1999/2000, which is why the good producers worked with the solo Spices, and why Forever is so bad. The original 3rd album plan - and the plan was ALWAYS just to have three albums and then go solo, but how they ended getting there was with a monstrous flop and the band petering out - was to have half of it be duets of cover songs with famous people with individual Spicy Ones, and half of it be a normal Spice album. That's why they didn't plan on having many original songs for the album, and why they rushed to come up with some turgid rnb tracks in the end.

The Spices had a HUGE-sounding track called, Walk of Life, that nobody had ever heard. It was a b side, but no one had really listened to it. For that reason, they felt confident releasing it as a full single ... but only as a double A-Side. Step forward, Billie Piper! Meanwhile, Billie Piper had an unreleased song that was ALSO called Walk of Life, which the Spices would feature on. However, as the Spices were TECHNICALLY, if not really by 2000, the bigger act, the songs would be credited as: Walk of Life by Spice Girls (featuring Billie Piper) and Walk of Life by Spice Girls and Billie Piper, with their name featuring first (Billie's song). Billie would feature on the Spices' Walk of Life and vice-versa, but with the Spices credited as the main act for publicity reasons.

When Geri left, the plan to have an album of covers with features went away. However, rumour has it that still, the record company wanted a QUADRUPLE A-Side to guarantee a multi-week no.1, and were interested in the Billie Piper double Walk of Life songs to go along with Hollier/ LLLTW. The Spice Girls without Geri, meanwhile, were in CHAOS and faced an awful album. In the end, they didn't release the Quadruple A-Side and didn't go with a separate, final single of Walk of Life/ Walk of Life, either.

So! Do you think it WOULD have been a massive multi-week no.1 if it had been a quadruple A-Side in November, even beating Westlife the following week? And if it had been released separately to Hollier/LLLTW, would this Walk of Life/ Walk of Life release have reached no.1 in December, becoming the Christmas no.1? Is the collapse of the Spice Girls and any Walk of Life dual release the reason why we never see Billie Piper with them these days? Without Spice help, Walk of Life by Billie FLOPPED, dismally reaching no.25 for a single week.

This is just something you dreamt up in your head, isn't it?

When I saw the title I assumed it was the name of Billie's podcast and she was featuring a spice girl

Quadruple single, wtf

Don't forget, in practice it would have been a SEXTUPLE single, because there would have still been the original versions, solo Billie and Spices without Billie versions of each. If they released it as a stand-alone Double A-Side, then the radio would get behind one or the other, some would play the original solo songs, saying this is the best, etc, etc, creating a national debate of sorts.

I gotta tell you all a secret guys.

One time, I met Emma Bunton randomly at a B&Q shop here in Brighton. She was in the queue to pay for some garden chairs and a drill and not knowing it was her at first, I started to sing her hit single MAYBE. She quickly turned around and started singing with me and in jubilation we both cried at how well our voices blended and complimented each other. Then, after many months, she calls me out of the blue - NOT HER PA BUT HER - and asks me if I wanted to duet with her on a track on her upcoming album, Free Me.

She said she has this amazing track called, well, Amazing, and she needed a male duet partner for it and thought that I was perfect. I SCREAMED AND SAID YES BITCH OF COURSE but then when I came to my senses, I asked 'but Flawless, no-one knows me, I am not a professional singer'.

She said 'that's ok hun. I have this random name of this random singer from Latin America that we can credit instead of you. He will be a huge star in American and UK one day but no-one knows him yet here so who cares?!! This way, I mantain credibility and you will feature with me on my track HOW STHAT BABES'

And so the story goes that I, Mr.X, dueted with Emma Bunton on her track Amazing from her iconic second album Free Me. It's the highlight of my life and hopefully one day, I will get credited and receive royalties from its huge sales.

IT'S ALL TRUE AND I CANT PROVE IT AND I PROBABBLY MADE IT OUT OF MY OWN IMAGINATION BUT WHO CARES RIGHT?!?!? IT'S TRUE I PROMISE!!!!

Thank you all for entertaining my fantasies in this Thread of Spice World Fantasies

In all seriousness though, you have quite a wild imagination. But also, you have quite a lot of wild thoughts directly related to your hatred of the Forever album...

Maybe just grow up from it?...

I can even picture Mel B saying "Yeah, I remember that" when asked about this story.

But is it mere COINCIDENCE that we haven't seen Billie with them since 2000? Sounds like bad blood to me over cancelling the dual release!

This took me out

I have heard this Walk of Life version Dill Doe speaks of. Billie sang (some might say stole) Victoria’s part from the original version, which led to yuuuuuge tension between all of the girls. That was the catalyst to the Spice Girls falling apart.

Mr.X thank you for sharing your truth! I will update my iTunes tag for Amazing  You deserve that credit!

OMG IT ALL MAKES SENSE NOW!! TELL ME WHY IS ACTUALLY ABOUT BILLIE

they wrote it to reflect on the hurt that Billie caused and the hits they could have had... and which they never recovered from

But VB's high vocals in it make the song!!! No wonder there was so much tension after they gave her part to Billie, especially when VB complained they never gave her big parts!
