Me logging on to the website tomorrow to buy a couple of items and then be bitter that I spent over £100 on these girls AGAIN:

Well... I was right then :arrr: I got the Baby bundle and the 2CD, and with shipping it cost me around £100... jesus...

No new things in the vinyls either. It feels like this is thrown in online due to the leak of the album, so I am going to wait to see if more things pop up in the end. It's all very underwelming so far.

Funnily enough, the CD is the most interesting thing, and THAT is saying something....

I went Mel B bundle (I love that pic of her), Emma vinyl, 2 cd set and zoe vinyl. Shipping was ridiculously cheap only £6.95 I was expecting a fortune.

There are a few other things I want but I'll wait to see how I am money wise closer to release.

I don't really think people can complain with any of it. If the individual vinyls had the extra tracks they would have to be double vinyls and like £25 each, same with the cassettes. This has at least kept the prices fairly reasonable for the individual cover items.

It will be nice to see them back in the top 10 which I have no doubt they will do with all these formats.

Also I don't know for certain but I'll try and check but I'd guess Feed your love was originally meant for Spice but used for Wannabe too when they decided to make a physical release for it. So that's maybe took the shine off having a proper previously unreleased song on it.

Well, hun... we certainly can, specially when the content is so lame. The only great thing is the different formats. The tracklists are still shit across all formats.

But whatever! There are bound to be a few more formats coming (like HMV and Amazon exclusive, etc, so I will wait for those for the moment).

I know why it was done obviously but wiping away the album version of 2 Become 1 doesn’t seem right. It’s the same as changing the ending to the Viva Forever video. We need to accept something for what it originally was and it shouldn’t be allowed to be changed.

I'm glad it is the single version that is being made the main one in the album. 'Boys and girls feel good together' always sounded off to me and there is nothing wrong with correcting a past mistake.

Also they are not 'wipping it away'. You can still get the album version in all other editions of the album, including currently on iTunes, Spotify, etc.

OK I am expecting a couple more editions, mainly:

- a HMV-specific vinyl

- a Amazon-specific vinyl

- a group-cover/new cover vinyl (not that awful picture disk)

Emma Bunton said in a statement: "From the first wannabe baby steps to conquering the whole world with a team of Spices, thank you doesn’t seem enough to all of you who have supported us, followed in our footsteps, walked in our great big shoes and who have shared our dreams. It’s been 25 years of pure magic. Spice Girls forever!!!"

Geri Horner added: "To our diehard and loyal fans; without you there is no us – sending endless love and gratitude. Whoever you are, whatever your dreams – live them, be them. The Spice Girls motto is testament to that."

Commenting on the album's milestone anniversary, Melanie C said: "25 years, wow! I have so many wonderful memories of writing, recording, promoting and touring this album and so many people to thank. This is the record that set us off on our incredible journey. A huge thank you to our fans and family all around the World. Thank you for always being there with your unrelenting support and making our dreams come true. My love and gratitude always.”

Melanie B added: "All I ever wanted was to be accepted and to make everyone around me – gay, straight, brown, black, shy or loud like me – to feel they can celebrate who they are and to be free to be themselves. All I hope – 25 years on – is that message has been heard loud and clear. It’s true that in the end love IS all you need so I thank everyone who has ever bought a Spice Girls record or stood in the rain to greet us or got dressed up in pink, in a tracksuit, a ginger wig, a leopard print catsuit or put on Vic’s iconic pout!"

Speaking of which, Victoria Beckham said: "We couldn't let 25 years pass without thanking the fans for their incredible support. There are so many people who have played a part in the success of the Spice Girls throughout the years, you know who you are and we thank you."

The 2CD packaging looks very nice. There's a lot of pictures of it here: https://amazon.co.uk/TBC/dp/B099C8R1D6 (someone already noticed that Who Do You Think You Are has an incorrect lyric lol - and I've noticed that on the back cover track list they've forgotten to point out that the Love Thing remix is previously unreleased). I feel like they should at least have a 1 CD version of it though. I'm not too sure why UMC is less focused on CDs - they're still the top selling physical format.

Currently it doesn't seem like HMV or Amazon have an exclusive version, but they're all selling the individual member vinyl editions, the Zoetrope picture disc and the 2CD. It seems like the cassettes are a store exclusive.

So far I've ordered the 5 cassettes from the official store. Because the store takes payment instantly, I couldn't justify anything else there for the time being! Thankfully I'm not tempted to have all the slip mats. At a push I might get the 'Baby' one though.

I actually appreciate that they've replaced 2 Become 1's version. I don't think the original version will be scrubbed from online anyway. I think they could have included the radio versions of Who Do You Think You Are and Mama to expand the album.

I'm still disappointed by CD2's track listing though, it's very haphazard. Missing off B Sides makes it feel incomplete, given that they included just two of them. There was an opportunity here to include remixes that weren't previously released commercially, there's certainly plenty of them.

By the way, the release date is the same date as Ed Sheeran's new album, so that automatically rules out a return to #1 for Spice.

Ordered the 5 indivual cassettes. I'm going to get the vinyls this week, just can't afford it all in one go today.

I can't wait to get the Deluxe.

Jay where did you see those quotes from the girls?

There was going to be a HMV exclusive but they wanted more than just a different cover so it fell through.

:( these girls, honestly...

We'll never get a proper unreleased-songs album are we?.....

I am starting to think that the Spiceworld25 version will be just the same, with perhaps one unreleased track and thats it. Boring.

I mean I feel like it's really nitpicking though. If we hadn't had Feed your love on Wannabe which was last minute then you'd have had demo's, new remixes and an unreleased song on the new album.

They were never going to please everyone but the main things we wanted -

Individual vinyls

Cassettes

Deluxe cd version

Demo's and unreleased songs.

It ticks those boxes maybe not all perfectly but good enough.

Spice Girls stolen my money today... Lol

The spine of each cassette having the letter/girl on it is a nice touch - another aspect to encourage people to buy a complete set. They'll look like this if placed together:

Jay where did you see those quotes from the girls?

They're from a press release! I copied them from their thread on Popjustice, but now I see that the quotes have been used on Official Charts Company and Billboard:

The fact that Love Thing has an unreleased remix implies that it was intended to be a single at some point, doesn't it?
  • Author

Possibly although apparently this remix is taken from a demo cassette from 1995?

http://ultimatespice.online.fr/spicegirls/...icecassprlt.jpg

1. Love Thang (demo)(7") - 3:43

2. Love Thang (demo)(12") - 6:27

3. Love Thang (demo)(TV) - 3:43

4. Love Thang (demo)(Instrumental) - 3:54

The version on iTunes is 6:24, so presumably it's track 2.

I'm still disappointed by CD2's track listing though, it's very haphazard. Missing off B Sides makes it feel incomplete, given that they included just two of them. There was an opportunity here to include remixes that weren't previously released commercially, there's certainly plenty of them.

Agreed! (I also can't stand sheeran, so that makes me even more bitter LOL; I at least liked Run DMC/Nevins so blocking Stop was easier to swallow)

Of all the B-sides ... Take Me Home was a great choice, but ... ONE OF THESE GIRLS. Seriously!? :(

With regards to remixes, are we sure there are plenty of unreleased ones? I was always under the impression that the SG never had many commissioned to begin with. School me if I'm wrong, Jay. B-)

Here's a list of Spice era remixes that were included on promos, but not included on commercially released CDs/cassettes! (Although some may have been on commercially released vinyl)

Wannabe [Japanese Promo CD Edit] - 2:46

Wannabe [Demo] - 2:57 (I mean, we have it on the Wannabe 25 Vinyl/Cassette/Digital of course, but it seems like a missed opportunity to include it on this CD?)

Wannabe [Edit Version] - 2:10

Wannabe [instrumental Slam] - 6:20

Wannabe [Junior Vasquez 12" Club Mix] - 9:20

Wannabe [Junior Vasquez Club Dub] - 9:20

Wannabe [Junior Vasquez Gomis Dub] - 6:42

Wannabe [Junior Vasquez Single Edit] - 2:54

Wannabe [Motiv 8 Mix - Korean Sampler Edit] - 3:52

Wannabe [Vocal Slam Edit] - 3:42

(^ Haven't included Soul Seekerz remixes because technically they don't belong to the 'Spice' era)

Say You'll Be There [Junior's 7" Mix] - 4:25

Say You'll Be There [Junior's X-Beats] - 8:30

Say You'll Be There [single Edit] - 3:43

(^ There's also apparently an original version with the rap we hear them do on the Volume 1 VHS)

2 Become 1 [Demo] - 3:58

Seremos Uno Los Dos - 4:05 same as 2 Become 1 [spanish Version] {this was released in certain countries, but never the UK}

Who Do You Think You Are [Morales Bonus Mix] - 4:40

Who Do You Think You Are [Morales Club Mix Edit] - 3:48

Who Do You Think You Are [stent Promo Version] - 4:00 (this is a longer version of the radio version)

Love Thing [Demo]

-----------

I would definitely have preferred "Wannabe [Vocal Slam Edit] - 3:42" over the Dave Way version, one of the shorter Morales WDYTYA remixes would have been great to include too.

Stop trying to convince me to get the remaining 4 cassettes I haven't ordered.

I mean I feel like it's really nitpicking though. If we hadn't had Feed your love on Wannabe which was last minute then you'd have had demo's, new remixes and an unreleased song on the new album.

Sorry pal but for me, this is not nitpicking at all. Most fans have been asking for unreleased songs, or demos of unreleased songs. What we got was lame, and you know it.

The physical variants are cute and all, but it's just money grabbing at this stage as the only thing that brings what the fans wanted - unreleased songs - is the CD. Great, but if the vinyl and cassette variants only have different coloured covers, then there is very little incentive to get them, in my opinion, as we already have so many vinyl variants of those same 10 tracks released over the years....

That's my issue. The 5 covers is cute but it's not worth spending like £300 on. That's just cash in.
