I hope it's possible to get it to 8k but today's update was low

Someone on Spice Circle showed their fan made individual covers CDs and it made me wish even more that they existed. Imagine if they'd had those available and in supermarkets too. Could have picked up so many more casual sales.

DEAR UNIVERSAL MUSIC GROUP AND VIRGIN,

PEOPLE STILL BUY CDs, MAYBE YOU MISSED THE MEMO????

YOURS SINCERELY,

SPICE FANS

<_< :kink:

Looks like #4 is almost certain unless something suddenly sells about 3k in the last 2 days of the charting week.

I'm a bit concerned there'll be a Coldplay boost with the streaming...

Fingers crossed for #4 or #5! I really wish it could have held onto the Top 3 though.

Can we do enough last minute download sales and streams to get back to #3?

No. The sales have slowed down and the album at three will keep gaining.

Yep Elton John's way too strong on streaming for Spice Girls to be able to overcome him. (It's pretty crazy how much of a streaming force he is, even with new music!)

Coldplay aren't even at #5 they are #6. War on drugs are at #5 I'd be more worried about them suddenly finding 2.5k sales reported from their store.

They are 1,839 ahead of #5, obviously have no idea how close Coldplay are to #5 but Spice will do 400 sales minimum next 2 days so Coldplay would likely need at least 2.4k from the last 2 days to even get close.

Well, Elton kept releasing new and old music and touring into the streaming era, so it makes sense... The girls literally vanished for 20 years with a few pop ups here and there, so no wonder...

They have a lot to improve on streaming...

This is on another level though - there's so many older artists* who are not experiencing the level of streaming Elton is, with new music. This is quite rare. This is its second week on sale too. Most older artists rely on physical sales and are a bit of a one week wonder because of it.

* or even more modern artists!

Let's not forget that this is a collaborative project with young & popular artists. Of course it would get good streams.

This is true too. I mean, just the Dua Lipa duet is massive, so of course he will do well.

I mean, breathing life into old songs with current acts involved - the girls could learn a few things!..

The Dua Lipa duet doesn't contribute massively to his album's streams here, because it's the top track from it - and neither does the second most streamed track. The contribution of those songs is lowered to the average of streams achieved by the third to the twelfth most streamed songs from the album. So Dua's presence is essentially negatable in terms of helping out his album streaming sales. People are actually listening to the non-singles in quite significant numbers.

It's still uncommon for an artist like him - who has been around for decades - to attract a strong streaming audience, even with a bit of help with some modern duet partners. If it was that easy then many other older artists would dominate the streaming era.

Yeah I mean WDYTYA ft Jax Jones or Spice Girls x Joel Correy SYBT would get more streams than the original versions I'm sure.

Well the day is finally here, 4th November 1996 is the UK (and possibly other parts of Europe?) release date of Spice!

Happy anniversary everybody :cheer: Iconic, legendary, still sounding amazing a quarter of a century later.

25 years ago today... I didn't own it yet, so I hadn't heard it! It would be another 2 months until I'd get it on cassette. I bought it with some money I'd received as a gift for Christmas. I can still picture 8 year old me going into Woolworths and buying it... and then playing it over and over and over again

They had such a profound effect on me at that young age. I think their main appeal for me at that point in time was how happy and positive they made me feel. The songs, the videos, their performances, their everything... it was so appealing! Somehow I felt included in it, like I was a part of the gang. It seems that many others felt exactly the same as I did.

When they launched, I was at primary school in Year 3... and I actually got on okay. I didn't experience bullying by then, which is probably a miracle because I did stand out. I had absolutely no interest in football, predictably the main common interest for boys in my classroom. I feel like... when the Spice Girls came along, I had finally found my thing, my obsession. Just like those kids with their football. Although I have to say, even some of the boys in my class were pretty captivated by the Spice Girls. The girls most certainly were and I remember having so many enthusiastic conversations with them about the Spice Girls (of course stuff like who your favourite is - mine was Emma!).

It wasn't too long after the release of 'Spice' that I began to discover other music artists, the charts etc. So they were the start of my love of music. I suppose I could go as far as to say that 'Spice' is responsible for many of my friendships, given that our shared love for the Spice Girls owes so much to that first album and the global impact it had. It's a very special and important album.

Anyway, Happy 25th anniversary, and even though the above post probably reads like I've had a glass or two of wine, I'm actually sober  :w00t:

Oh are we talking about memories when our parents got us the Spice album?

Well, I started to cry. Cry because I didn't want to be a f***** and also cry because I wanted to keep the album. Very conflicting feelings about it tbh.
