Well it's not 5k sales of vinyls/cassettes it's 5k of physicals/downloads/streams. As I said they will do 1.5k streaming sales this week or maybe more if people stream more this week.

Obviously they have 2 formats physically too. This is a new release as well not an old album just get a quiet release on vinyl.

I'm told it's doing well but will be nip and tuck if it charts due to obviously streaming pushing it down.

Sure, I get that, but it is technically a new release mostly for the already fans. Id be surprised if it sold much more than 1k in physical formats :arrr:

Keep downloading Wannabe everyone, the takeover of 7 digital download charts continues.

Wannabe is #1, #2, #3, #9, #10, #11, #12, #16 and #17 on the track chart and the EP is #8 on the album chart. The Spice Girls are also the top artist on the artist chart too.

I'm going to do 5 downloads on 7 digital today just because I think it would be funny to see them have the whole top 10.

It will definitely do more than that. The GH picture disc did 2.6k first week in the UK vinyls.

Forever and Spiceworld were very different as they werent a rush out to get it or pre-order it first week kind of release. They were I'll pick it up at some point kind of thing and to have a physical format of those albums on sale for casuals.

This definitely has more effort put in, the official store sales, 2 formats, more promotion (when it all kicked off with the pre-order it was in the Sun newspaper etc which obviously Forever didn't get that kind of exposure). The social media are pushing it harder, it has a merch collection to go with it. This has a proper team behind it to push it.

Succeed or fail it's all extra sales for Wannabe.

The vinyl looks much better when in your hands !!

Well...

Interesting that the classic logo has been redesigned to incorporate the new logo. I'm not keen. 🤫

Quite disappointing that Feed Your Love is the only unheard song demo they have to include? :(

The CD2 track list is a bit all over the place? They've omitted Bumper to Bumper, Baby Come Round and Sleigh Ride, but included Take Me Home and One of These Girls. They haven't included the Wannabe demo. Including a few old remixes is a bit lame.

Last Time Lover and If U Can't Dance demos leaked in 2014, so they're not new per se, but at least they'll be tidied up. They had the option to include Love Thing and 2 Become 1 demos, but they've not. Interesting Who Do You Think You Are demo is "new" to us, that wasn't a part of the 2014 demos leak.

Anyway for me, at this point, tracks 2, 5, 10 and 12 are unheard, so not a huge amount to look forward to, but I'm excited for those tracks anyway. "Spice Chat 2" makes me wonder about the existence of a "Spice Chat 1" lol.

Spice chat 2 has also the subtitle “Shall we say goodbye?” That’s intriguing 🤔

Wannabe is currently at #86 in the chart update

Nice to see it there, but sadly absolutely no chance of Top 100 on Friday :( I would estimate approaching 1,700 pure sales (including downloads) and 600 streaming sales, and approx 2,300 overall.

A little disappointing for the physicals, but it was always a long shot that it would be a decent seller with those prices

Oh well, it seems guaranteed to be #1 in the physicals chart and #1 in the vinyl singles chart, and a possibility of Top 5 in the sales chart. Who knows about downloads, but hopefully it'll squeeze in to the Top 100.

Very disappointed with the Spice 25 tracklist, I hope there’s more songs yet to be announced as only Feed My Love on there, was hoping for at the very least another 2 unheard of demos

Agreed, I find it disappointing as well :( I didn't have particularly high expectations, but I'm still let down. It all feels a bit slapdash and "this'll do". We know there's other unheard tracks from that era, there's no real reason not to include all the B Sides, they have some commercially unreleased remixes that could have been included instead of remixes we already have.

As ever, they'll get my money... but this could have been so much better, easily.

I knew the pre-order was coming for Spice but really odd timing to do it midweek of the Wannabe physical release week, unless they are hoping to squeeze some extra Wannabe vinyl sales this week with Spice pre-orders.

I like the cover, it's different from the original which was definitely needed. The tracklist is fine for me, happy Fees your love is on it and songs I've not heard. I'm cautiously optimistic that some unreleased material is being held back for a whole unreleased album as it's not really feasible to wait till Forever or GH 25 to release Woman or Spice is back but they would slot nicely on an unreleased album of material.

Looking forward to seeing what formats will be released, they really need to go to town and rinse fans.

I’m not as disappointed as Jay but would’ve loved to have some unreleased songs like We’re Gonna Make It Happen,Do You Think About Me,Strong Enough,Likely Stories/C.U Next Tuesday added. Also Step To Me would do been a nice addition. Kinda excited for the WDYTYA demo and the SYBT preview sounds v good. Would’ve loved if the girls themselves would’ve announced this before fans would’ve found out.

Had a chat it's Apple music who have f***ed up wasn't meant to be coming till next week. So the planned announcement on social media is in limbo now. Do they just press forward now or take it down and have it look super messy.

Sigh.

Judging by Wannabe 25 & Spice 25, Red Girl Records is much more organized than Universal. :kink:
I mean this time it wasn't their fault it was embargoed, so somewhere someone has broken a contract. They do seem a bit cursed though I will say them trying to keep everything secret until announcement is a very dated approach these days. Most artists would have been dropping hints and saying Wannabe 25 was just the start of the celebrations and releases, so if something like this happens it's not some major problem that ruins your plans.

We should have got

Disc 2:

1. Bumper To Bumper

2. Take Me Home

3. One of These Girls

4. Sleigh Ride

5. Baby Come Round

6. Step To Me

7. Feed Your Love

8. Likely Stories

9. Pleasin' Me

10. Overnight

11. Strong Enough

12. The Power of Five

13. Wannabe (Demo)

14. Say You'll Be There (Demo)

15. 2 Become 1 (Demo)

16. Mama (Demo)

17. Who Do You Think You Are (Demo)

Disc 3: New & Old Remixes

Likely Stories and Pleasin' Me are registered on publishing sites. Strong Enough leaked a few years ago. May as well officially release it so fans have it in HQ. Biff says Overnight is from Spice, though Geri is not credited on publishing sites.
