Hope you don't mind me starting this thread, there doesn't seem to be an existing topic for this from when the Rachel / S Club forum briefly existed! Somewhere to discuss anything and everything S Club related.

This unofficial compilation is coming out later this year.... and it looks WEIRD. "Essential" yet no sign of Show Me Your Colours or Stronger (in normal form anyway)? That ARTWORK????

The plus side will come from a potential streaming release, if it actually gets released there. B-sides So Right, Hello Friend, Our Time Has Come, If It's Love, The Long & Wnding Road and Discotek are not currently available, nor is Sunshine UK bonus track Right Guy. Shame they didn't add a few more of the b-sides, and most notably, Stand By You - a 7 UK bonus track that's one of their best songs but not available digitally :( There's a few remixes that were only previously available on promotional CDs as well so that's a bit of an incentive.

I'll likely buy this for collection purposes but it seems like a STRANGE creation  and far from what I'd create for an essential S Club collection...!

They need to do a Step ‘The Last .dance’ and include all b-sides.

Even though this isn’t an official S Club 7 release. If they do we form I hope they do something similar to what Steps did.

Had no idea Stand By You was a bonus track! One of the strongest on that album for bubblegum pop

Someone needs to get S Club on the PC Music train

Yeah I was always disappointed iStand By You wasn’t on the Australian edition of 7. So much so that for Christmas 2000 I requested the u ported version of 7 from the HMV in the city, just so U could have it.

Nice to see S Club 7’s Essential higher than I’d have expected too. I picked it up for £5 in Asda - there are quite a few good album tracks missing that are more notable than some of the songs on here (Stand By You, Show Me Your Colours, I Really Miss You), and I’d also liked to have seen Let Me Sleep, the longer version of Two In A Million (the two versions on here are practically identical) and the Eiffel 65 remix of Reach.

The sequencing is a little odd too in places - Say Goodbye the fourth track!?

Also it’s a shame the album isn’t on streaming because a few of those b-sides that are included would have been nice additions to be able to stream.

Just posting this here from the mids thread as it’s more relevant to an S Club 7 thread.

Albeit they aren’t returning, but an unexpected return to the album chart is a good enough reason for bumping this.

The other thing I found surprising about this release was the inclusion of a remix of Bring The House Down, which has a drum track similar to Spiller’s Groovejet.

The fact that this track has quite a trendy (for late 2000) sounding remix and was included on the Greatest Hits in 2003 makes me wonder if it was planned to be a single before presumably they were asked to do Children In Need that year. Or perhaps it was planned for an early 2001 release and canned? Remixes aren’t generally commissioned for pop group album tracks for no reason.

I hope they can stay top 40 on Friday, it hasnt dropped much at all since the first mids so hopefully it holds on, sales though are probably very close between number 25 and 50 which is the worry.

The remixes were commissioned after Children In Need. It was planned to be a single but they decided to move onto their next album instead.

Thanks for the info, I think it could have been a safe top five for them but it was probably best to move straight onto Don’t Stop Movin’ to maintain the momentum. I just realised there’s a Stronger remix on here too, I don’t think that would have worked as a single.

Wish it was available for streaming. Really love Hello Friend!
Really not bad, I didn’t expect this thrown together cash in album to go top 40!
